A warm and welcoming environment with caring staff. Beautiful gardens to relax in. Plenty of activities on offer and huge efforts made by everyone to make special seasonal events, Easter bonnet, summer fair, Christmas, Royal occasions, remembrance. Musical entertainment weekly, church services, involvement
with school children and visits from animal handling workshops. Even a grand summer outing with wheelchair transport.

My Mum's care is outstanding. The carers are amazing, so kind and patient with her and all the residents. She enjoys a good variety of home cooked meals. Mum is very happy in Yoakley residential home.

I visit my aunt there every week and can only say what delightful experience it is and has been for the past ? Years. The staff are a joy, never a long face always made welcome, despite my turning up at their busy time of te morning but I have good reason for that. Lol
There seems to be plenty for
residents to get involved in ( sadly aunty isn't that way inclined ) most of the time I think.
My only criticism....The Gardens look amazing and it makes me sad to see mine.
Reply from Tracy Huntley, Care Manager at Yoakley HouseThank you for your review it's a pleasure seeing you visit regularly and your auntie is a very luck lady. We will keep trying to engage her in activities

My Mum has been a resident at Yoakley House for the past 15 months and she is very happy living there; all the staff are very friendly and we feel she is very well looked after. Most week days they have a variety of activities to join in with and at this time of year they can sit out and enjoy the beautiful
gardens.

My mum has been a resident in this care home for several years and the care she receives is excellent. The staff are very caring and go above and beyond to make sure the resident is happy and their needs are being met. They offer a range of activities for the resident to participate in should they
wish to be involved. The home and the gardens are of a very high standard. The rooms may be a little small but they have a lovely conservatory where residents can engage with one another, partake in activities or just sit quietly. The staff are friendly and helpful should you require their assistance or have any concerns. They always make visitors feel welcome and you can also take your dog when visiting which the residents like. All in all an exceptional care home at a reasonable price.
Reply from Tracy Huntley, Care Manager at Yoakley HouseThank you for your review. We are always looking for new ways to help your mum interact an feel at ease within a homely atmosphere to ensure her wellbeing is looked after. Your mum really enjoyed the recent trip to Wingham and it was so lovely to see her smile

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother spent nearly five years in Yoakley House Care Home. This home is fantastic. It has a lovely ethos as it is charitably run and this ethos runs through the whole organisation. They manage to deliver exceptional care at an astonishingly reasonable price by today's standards. The staff are all
lovely - they become almost friends with the residents and they were genuinely sad to see my mother leave. Also remarkable for the care sector these days, a good proportion of the staff have been working there many years. This is a very good sign as they clearly love working there. The building itself, although it was built in the 80s, is very spacious and light. There are a couple of things that more modern homes might have, such as larger en-suite bathrooms, but this doesn't ultimately matter. The gardens are utterly astonishing - like an Oxford College - beautifully maintained by exceptional gardeners to an incredibly high standard. The managerial team are excellent and very responsive.
Reply from Tracy Huntley, Care Manager at Yoakley HouseThank you for your lovely comment, we were sad your mum had to leave but also happy that she is now nearer to family. Residents always come first and we always try to improve their quality of life. Your mum loved the garden and the flowers. She will be missed. Take care both of you and all the best, Yoakley House.

My dad stayed for 2 weeks respite at Yoakley House, as it was the first time he was away from our mum in 61years of marriage we didn't know what to expect. He was looked after and cared for so well and the staff were so kind and helpful and he was very comfortable there. We would recommend Yoakley to
anyone, and as dad has to go back for another couple of weeks due to mum having another operation we have no worries about him going again.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.203)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.203) out of 10 for Yoakley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.897 for Yoakley House is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.897
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.306 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Yoakley House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.2 = 0.806
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
