A free nutrition and diet assessment will be completed on admission, and choice of nutritious meals as well as snacks and drinks will be offered throughout the day. Our chef creates fresh and nutritious meals throughout the day with drinks included.
A room for your own personal (most with ensuite)
An electronic Person Centred Care plan that can be monitored by relatives/friends (subject to consents): full care plan monitors all heath concerns, updates your social and recreational activities and interests, and as far a reasonably possible to meet your particular interests.
Our management and care team will liaise on your behalf with the relevant Health Professionals. This includes arranging appointments with your nominated GP, dentists, social worker, opticians, chiropodist, and audiologists. The Home ensures the Health Authority provides supplies wherever possible.

- Kirlena House operates an open visiting policy and warmly welcomes family, friends, and visitors at any time of day. There is no need to book in advance, although visitors are encouraged to avoid mealtimes where possible so residents can enjoy their meals without interruption. On arrival, visitors are asked to sign in at the front entrance for fire safety and security purposes, and to sign out again when they leave. The home is fully accessible at ground level, with wide corridors and accessible toilet facilities available for visitors throughout the building. Children of all ages are welcome and the team finds that intergenerational visits are often a real highlight for residents. Well-behaved pets are also welcome to visit, subject to a brief chat with the home manager beforehand to make sure the visit suits the resident and others around them. Visitors are welcome to spend time with their loved one in their private bedroom or to make use of the communal lounges, dining areas, and landscaped garden. A quiet sitting room is available for families who would like more privacy, including during end-of-life visits when family members are welcome to stay overnight. Tea, coffee, and light refreshments are offered to visitors throughout the day at no charge, and visitors are welcome to join their loved one for a meal by prior arrangement with the kitchen team. Free on-site parking is available directly outside the home, with additional on-street parking nearby. The home is also easily reached by local bus services and is within walking distance of central Oxford.

Visitors are welcome to park whenever they come, and there is no need to book a space in advance. The car park is on level ground and only a short, step-free walk from the main entrance, making it easy for visitors with reduced mobility or pushchairs to reach the home comfortably. Additional on-street parking is available nearby on Kennington Road for busier times, such as family gatherings or special occasions. Visitors are kindly asked to park considerately and to keep the area immediately in front of the entrance clear at all times, so that emergency vehicles can access the home without delay.

My Mum has lived at Kirlena House since April 2023, and after a short period, settled in very well. A particular member of staff keeps me informed of any worries he has regarding Mum and we are always warmly welcomed by all staff members when we visit. Most importantly, Mum always appears happy and quite content. I am very secure in the knowledge that Mum is in the best place and is cared for 24/7, which means I don't have to worry so much about her as I did when she was living in her own home.

Communication is strong among the care staff, being kept up to date with any changes or issues.
My husband has lived at Kirlena House since April 2021. He settled in quickly and has continued to do so ever since. All staff are welcoming and keep me informed on my husband's health and well-being. Kirlena has a real 'home from home' feel about it. Thank you, Kirlena, for all your continuing care.

The food looks fantastic and there is always a cup of coffee or tea on offer when I visit.
The home itself is clean and tidy.
The care given to my dad is exceptional especially as I know on his bad days he can be difficult to care for. I'm always informed about things whether that be events, hospital appointments or medical emergencies. If I need an update I am provided with one and I'm always given the opportunity to feed into dad's care plan. When visiting we are given a nice space to talk privately accompanied by tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits. On dads birthday they got him a cake and badge and sang to him which I was really impressed with. All staff are always polite, helpful and smiling. Kirlena staff have been great with settling dad in. He was poorly and needed to be seen in hosptial. Again, the staff informed me straight away, allowing me to stay on the phone whilst the paramedics were assessing him, putting them on the phone so that they could let me know exactly what was happening (I live 80 miles away).
He enjoys the activities at Kirlena; I've been to a singing afternoon which was really enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have lined up for Christmas!
We are always welcomed anytime with an offer of drinks and cake and I never feel "in the way".

The care my relative received was very good, the staff were always friendly when I came to visit and they encouraged my relative to take part in activities which helped my relative with her dexterity and walking.

They know the resident well and spend time with them, encouraging them to do activities. We are always offered refreshments and often stay for a meal, which can be taken where we are (bedroom, garden, not necessarily the dining room). I'm not sure whether all the activities on the board take place as my mum isn't particularly interested in them.
My father has been made to feel very welcome in Kirlena House care home and has settled in very quickly. Since his arrival here a few months ago, his health has improved primarily due to the care and attention the staff afford to him. Nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure that he is happy and they are even managing to get him to take some regular daily exercise - which is no mean feat!!
My mum has been a resident at Kirlena for three years. The level of care is exceptional with carers being kind, considerate and treating my mum with respect. Myself and my son are always welcomed when visiting and I feel safe in the knowledge that all my mum's needs are met. A million thank yous to all the staff.
