Such a caring group.
They held a supper summer BbQ with wonderful singer who engaged with everyone.
The hard work and dedication of Nigel and the whole team who worked so hard to deliver an excellent day for residents and family, was greatly appreciated.

This home is family oriented and caring. Well done all.

My mother was only in Shrublands for 2 1/2 months before she unfortunately passed away. She was looked after really well and the homely environment was really suitable for her requirements. There was always someone actively available to assist in my mum's needs. The 'farmhouse kitchen' feel was really good and being at a smaller care home was much nicer. She had a very good room too.

The management space was open to the lounge area so it was fully accountable. Nigel and his team were excellent for my mother and the family.

My Dad Tim was transferred to Shrublands just before Christmas 2025 from another county having been in hospital and another interim care home there for many months. It was serendipity and with peace and joy that he spent his last months at Shrublands. We could not have found a better place for him. It truly fits all the criteria of the 'home' part of the phrase 'care home'. As family run by Jane and Nigel, the personal care, kindness, humour of all the wonderful staff there really made a huge difference to his wellbeing in his final months. One of the best aspects of Shrublands is the large communal farmhouse-style kitchen around which the 9 residents gather for meals: every visit there would be either a roast lunch, with homemade Yorkshire puds, or a trifle, or a homemade cake for a Resident's birthday party which any visitors would also join in with - all were welcome. One younger visitor friend of Dad's said 'sign me up!

Thank you Lucie for your kind words, this means the world to us as it really validates what Shrublands is all about and what Jane's vision for the home was all those years ago. Tim was an absolute joy to look after and he is truly missed, as are yours and his many friends visits. I will be sure to pass on your kind words on to all of the staff.

Thank you for the last 8 years of my mother's life. She was looked after in every way by all the staff at the carehome. My partner and myself were welcome to visit at any time. Thank you so much to Shrublands!

Lovely small community of residents, it feels like they are living in a large house with friends. There always seems to be plenty of staff and they have time to sit and talk to the residents and play games with them where appropriate. I have not seen this level of care in other larger more modern care homes where I feel residents are often processed rather than cared for. The food is freshly cooked daily and of a great standard. Every resident is cared for as an individual.

My mother attended Shrublands Care Home in September 2025. I was so overwhelmed by the kindness shown to my mother during her time there. The staff were so friendly and were there for Mum. Mum was asked what she would like to eat at mealtimes and it was cooked in the large kitchen whilst Mum sat chatting to both residents and staff.

I would recommend this Care Home wholeheartedly. If you need respite for a loved one or indeed the longer stay, well, this is the place. A small comfortable home and so much like moving from home to home. Thank you.

My mum has been at Shrublands since January 2024 and I couldn't be happier. She has the best care and attention she could wish for, the food is home cooked daily and looks delicious. We recently attended a garden party which was so much fun - lots of food and drink (non-alcoholic)- games to play and the Bingo was great fun - and mum won too. Each time we visit is a pleasure and I am so grateful for everything the carers do. Mum has made new friends and so have we. Thank you

Our late mother was a resident at Shrublands for about 5 years until she passed away last month. The informal and cozy family atmosphere was absolutely perfect for her and the level of care was consistently very high. Mum took to Shrublands right from the beginning and felt very much at home there. She enjoyed the outdoor spaces and communal areas, and had a lovely spacious room with ensuite facilities where she felt very much at home. The team of carers were friendly, kind and efficient.
She enjoyed the excellent home-cooking and the communal meals.

Our family would highly recommend Shrublands.

My mum has been in Shrublands since February 2023 and is loving it. She has someone to care for her when she requires it. She thinks the food is wonderful, home-cooked and a good variety. She has someone to talk to whenever she fancies a chat. Can't praise the home enough!

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The care home is not posh but very homely just like being at home. It's the care that matters not the surroundings. My friend is getting love, care and is well looked after that is all she needs.

I can't thank the team of carers at Shrublands enough. They provided such great care and support to my Father and although he was only with them a short time he settled in well and Shrublands was very much a home-from-home.

My friend has been a resident for approximately nine years. She has no mobility or speech but is treated with loving care. A smile and a hug is readily available by the staff. Visitors are always made very welcome. The food is freshly cooked, homemade and nicely presented. The kitchen diner is very homely where residents can sit, play cards, have a cuppa or just chat with staff. Definitely a home-from-home. I'd live here.
