My friend has been living at Jackman',s Lodge for about 9 years and throughout that time, I have been very happy with the care provided for him. I visit twice a week and have never had any cause to worry or complain about his care. They treat him with dignity and empathy, ensuring he receives physical,
psychological and medical care at all times. As the years go by he has needed more attention, but the level of care has remained high and I'm so grateful for all they do.

I first encountered Jackman's Lodge about 3 years ago whilst looking for care home for my wife's mother. Of the ones we visited, this stood out. The staff are excellent, extremely welcoming, friendly and professional. They genuinely engage with the residents and seem to have their best interests at
heart. My wife is kept updated via regular emails regarding her mother's care and welfare. The residents have regular events to stimulate them, most recently at a garden party where friends and relatives of the residents could attend. The home is extremely well maintained. The food that I have seen served is of a good quality and the residents seem happy with it. I have been into many care homes as part of a previous career and this is the best one by far. I hope that I will never need the services of this care home, but if I did, I would count myself fortunate to be a resident.

The care my dad receives at Jackman's Lodge is amazing. All staff are so kind and supportive of his needs and I'm always made to feel welcome too.
The home is very well maintained and kept spotlessly clean, with a lovely garden. Although my dad doesn't often join in the activities there is always plenty
planned by the fantastic activity co-ordinators.
The food is of a really high standard with plenty of choice available - the roast on Easter Sunday was delicious!
A big thank you to ALL staff at Jackman's Lodge, you do an amazing job.

If you are looking for a care home providing all the home comforts. You need look not further than Jackman's Lodge. Every possible need is catered for, including food preferences. Entertainment is also provided (a pianist, singer etc.) and staff also join with patients in activities to stimulate mental
activities and are not left watching tv all day.

Jackman's Lodge delivers a consistently high level of service. The facilities are attractive with a lovely garden that my wife has direct access to. Everything is spotlessly clean and maintained to an excellent standard. There is high retention rate for staff including agency staff. So we get to know
them very well. They are all very kind to us and extremely conscientious. They are responsive to requests. Meds are given out in time and there is good access to the local GP surgery. The food is very good, with good quality ingredients and nicely served. The recent introduction of a buffet for lunch has been a great success.

Mum has keen at Jackman's Lodge Residential Care Home for one year and the staff have looked after her brilliantly. There is hardly any turnover of staff so mum gets to know her carers. The variety of activities is excellent and the seasonal decorations are outstanding. I would like to thank all the
staff including cooks and cleaners as well as carers and seniors. They are all fantastic.

The staff and facilities are excellent, and the care for my grandmother is of the highest standard. She is now thriving again, at 98! In her words, "I'm very happy and content and couldn't ask to be in a better place. I'm looked after very well and have no complaints".

The team at Jackman's has done everything possible during the Covid pandemic to keep my 98-year-old mum as safe and happy as possible, providing care and company and keeping spirits up. The home is always warm, clean and tidy, and I feel the home listens to me and reacts to requests wherever possible.
It is large enough to provide the facilities and care required by my mum, but small enough to feel personal rather than too corporate. The owners and manager are actively involved in maintaining high standards and providing individual care to their residents, and the lovely care team are friendly and so hardworking.

I have always been well looked after. Activities are provided, but I do knitting, crosswords, sudokus and jigsaw puzzles, which take up a lot of my time. It is good to have people around as I was on my own for 20-years. Carers always around if I need help.

I have been volunteering at Jackman's Lodge for about 7 years. I run an arts and craft group once a week and a wine and cheese afternoon. I help the activities coordinator wherever I can. The staff and residents at the home have always made me welcome, everyone is so caring and friendly. I admire the
staff for their resilience especially in the current circumstances, they go over and above in their care of the residents. I look forward to going back to see everyone when this lockdown is over.

The past year has been awful, as everybody knows. Therefore I will not dwell on it. Suffice to say that Jackman's has made incredible efforts in keeping the COVID virus at bay. I can only imagine the strain they have been under in protecting not only my mother and the other residents but also themselves
when one considers that they are in the thick of things every day, just like the NHS workers in our hospitals. Congratulations and many heartfelt thanks for their efforts thus far. Albeit, unfortunately, that we are not out of the woods yet.

The whole team at Jackman's Lodge have performed incredibly well to respond to the demands of the pandemic. They have kept Mum safe as well throughout this extremely difficult and dangerous time, creating innovative means to allow limited visiting opportunities while keeping staff, residents and visitors
safe. All while delivering their usual high level of care. Thank you!

Jackman's Lodge is very homely, the staff look after the residents very well and are all pleasant to the residents and their relatives. The meals are delicious, having personally tasted them. The rooms are always clean. There are always activities for the residents to get involved in daily. I would
recommend this care home to anyone who required personal and committed care.

Senior management and staff are going above and beyond to provide a safe environment for residents during this very difficult time, all staff are trying their best, particularly one senior carer; I have no idea how she has been managing to cope, she is a real asset to Jackman's Lodge. The home is cosy,
clean and has a nice atmosphere, my family member seems to be happy and contented.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.529)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.529) out of 10 for Jackman's Lodge Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.929 for Jackman's Lodge Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.929
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Jackman's Lodge Residential Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have worked at Jackman’s Lodge for 3 years

I am passionate about care and how we empower the people we look after. I feel particularly strongly about promoting independence and individuality. Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2017

I have over 20 years experience in an Administration role

I decided to look for a position in a Care Home setting after spending several years looking after my wonderful father. During this time, I learnt a lot about the effects of dementia, . not only on the individual but on the entire network of family and friends. I undertook several courses and read up everything I could, in order to understand this terrible illness. I came to realise that it was far more complex than most people realised and also that there was, at that point, a terrible stigma attached to it.
I wanted to work in an environment where I could use my administrative skills as well as to be able to help and encourage the residents to live their lives to the fullest and to get the most out of every day. My desk is in the main hall at Jackman's Lodge and so all the residents know me, I even have a few who keep me company and help me with the filing!! Working in a care home is very rewarding, I certainly haven't looked back.

I love my job and to me the most important thing is to make people happy. I see it as my most important role, that the people in my care are comfortable and that I can be the one assisting them on a daily basis. I know the residents at Jackman's Lodge very well and they know I am a bit of a clown!
Karen, the manager, keeps getting some ridiculous costumes for me to wear every week. So far I have been a pirate, a banana, a cowboy on a horse, a Mexican...The residents are delighted and it makes me happy to see them smile.

As a Senior, I am able to give out medication but I also do everything else, from personal care to tucking someone in bed with a cuppa. I see my job as giving the best possible care whilst enjoying getting to know people's life stories. I am also experienced in dementia care.
