I have observed how the staff take care of my wife, assisting her to attend to her personal needs and being gentle with her when she is upset. I am kept informed of any particular problems that arise and of any actions taken, particularly with regard to liaison with the medical profession. Whenever
I visit, I am always made welcome. My wife has been in the home for more than a year and I am confident that she has been receiving the care that I had become unable to provide.

My mother is looked after with patience, kindness and caring. The staff are on the whole excellent, and the facilities good. I am always made to feel very welcome as a visitor. I think a bigger shower or bathroom would be a good idea, altho I believe there is a better one on the 1st floor..
More
activities might be a good idea, my mother enjoys these.

My mum moved here from another care home, and the difference is amazing. The home is clean and welcoming and always smells fresh. Mum's room and bathroom are kept spotless.
Residents dine in the dining room, which is like a guest house dining room, rather than an institutional one and the food is excellent
home-cooked fare, and plentiful!
Mum is kept clean and her hair and make-up, nails etc.(which was always important to her) are always done.
The staff are kind, caring and friendly (both to residents and visitors) and treat my mum with compassion, even when her behaviour can be challenging.
When I visit it always seems very calm, and the residents appear happy.
I feel reassured that Mum is being well looked after and would certainly recommend Ashlodge if you are looking for somewhere for your loved one.

My husband is very happy at Ashlodge and particularly enjoys the food, which I, also have enjoyed when I stayed there several years ago. The rooms at that time were very comfortable, and I am sure, as the home is still under the same management, that they are still of the same standard. As a frequent
visitor to my husband, I am always welcomed by the staff, who are friendly and pleasant. The care at the home is extremely good - I have so far met my husband in the pleasant garden as we have been enjoying good weather, and I am always given refreshments which I enjoy. We were delighted that we could get him here.

I visited Ashlodge looking for a residential home for my mother, initially for respite care. As soon as I walked in, I knew this was the home for Mum. The staff were very kind and cheerful with lots of interaction with residents. Several staff were cleaning two rooms and doing a very thorough job.
Mum
was reviewed for her to take a room, this included her medical history, medical requirements, food likes and dislikes, mobility etc. We were given permission to make her room as homely as we liked which was lovely.
Mum was well cared for, always clean and well-fed, the care provided was excellent - including night care. We were kept informed of any concerns and medical attention sought from her GP when applicable.
I did not see the activities but my father and brother did, and both said they were good and Mum enjoyed them.
I cannot praise the staff/home enough and had Mum been able to return after a short spell in hospital, that's where she would have gone.

From day one of my mother going into Ashlodge, the staff were caring and attentive. There is a warm welcome into a clean homely home.
My mother's health improved and some of her personality returned.
Nothing appears to be too much for the staff. They do their jobs with genuine care, respecting the
patient's dignity. Ashlodge is first class.

I came to Ashlodge following 3 months in hospital with a very serious illness.
I have been well looked after; diet, medication, observations etc and I have regained my health and physical fitness/characteristics to a large extent.
The staff are very approachable with that necessary combination of
courtesy, professionalism, friendliness and humour.
Interaction excellent.

The manager is "excellent" in caring for my mother constant checking tablets, water infections, hospital appointments and keeps me informed at all times on how mum is doing (very happy with this).
My experience of all the staff are friendly and caring and always greeted with a smile. They take good
care of her appearance and wellbeing. There have been some staff changes but they seem to fit in well.

My Aunt has had the best care and has been very happy in the care home. For the past eight months my father has been terminally ill and has needed constant care at home and I and my family have not been able to spend any time with my aunt but the staff at Ash Lodge have been brilliant in looking after
her in our absence and we have been very grateful.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.229)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.229) out of 10 for Ashlodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.729 for Ashlodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.729
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlodge Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 16 registered maximum number of service users is 3.2, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
