After trying out various care homes, mum has settled at Rivendale with excellent care & kindness. She recently broke her hip and the care and attention at the home was superb when she was discharged from hospital. Thanks to all the team

My mother has been living in Rivendale Lodge since September 2024 and we have nothing but praise for the level of her care as she has slowly declined. The staff and manager are, without exception, so kind, friendly and efficient. The food is freshly cooked and dietary requirements are well catered for.
My father visits every day and he is always welcomed and supported; after a stay in hospital recently all the staff came to welcome him back and many of them gave him a hug!

We have never regretted choosing Rivendale Lodge to care for mum and are happy to recommend it to other families whose loved one is living with dementia.

My Uncle lived in Rivendale for almost 3years. As his next of kin living abroad, my sister and I will always be eternally grateful for the amazing care he received. All the staff were kind, caring, and professional. They were very helpful in accommodating his own personal needs. When we visited we found it to be a calm welcoming atmosphere. We could not have wished for better care.

My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2017. For two years I looked after her at home with a visiting P.A. (carer) and 3 days a week at an outstanding day care centre. Being fully conversant with my wife's needs, they recommended Rivendale Lodge as the best match when the time came (May 2019) for her to enter a Care Home. She is a 'wanderer', constantly on her feet and so needed a Care Home with plenty of safe inside and outside space. Rivendale Lodge is ideal. I take her out twice a week and her original visiting P.A. once. We are always made welcome, and because all the staff makes a point of welcoming me by name and "Here is your husband", there is no question as to whether she still knows me! She is well looked after, well turned out, and happy. Early on she accepted that this is now her home and at her annual Local Authority review, when asked "What do you like most about being here?", the answer is always the same, "they are all so kind.".

My husband has been in Rivendale Lodge since January 2022. I cannot fault the care he has had. All staff are so friendly and caring and obviously know my husband well. He is always well-dressed in his own clothes. I have been kept up to date with any developments. The staff are always around chatting to residents with lots of laughter involved. I consider myself very lucky to have found a care home like this for my husband who has no sight and has dementia. It's not a big place with lots of facilities but it is homely and extremely caring.

Rivendale Lodge EMI Care Home looked after my dad in the last 3 years of his life. The manager and her staff were always very helpful and kind and I could see that my dad was well cared for - he was always washed, shaved and appropriately dressed and the staff were very kind and patient with him when his dementia got worse. I feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful, caring home for him.

Dad has been in residence since March 2022 and we have been very impressed with the level of care, compassion and professionalism this care home provides. Although he cannot say for himself, we can see that he is happy and settled and enjoys the companionship of other people who are similar to him.

I would highly recommend Rivendale Lodge, who looked after my mum for almost a year before she passed in February 2022. The manager and her staff were amazing with mum who could be difficult at times. I can't praise the manager and the staff highly enough and am grateful to them for the professional and loving care they gave to mum in her last year. I felt very comfortable with mum's care at all times and thoroughly enjoyed my visits to her. At the end, the staff were even more amazing and so kind and considerate, during a time which was made even more difficult with the whole COVID situation, and I will always be so grateful to them for that.

My mother-in-law spent over a year at Rivendale Lodge, until she recently passed away, still in their care. It's difficult to express how much we valued the care that she received there, or how welcome we were made to feel whenever we visited her. She was always treated with kindness and respect and became less anxious than she had been elsewhere. The staff interact with residents all the time with kindness and great empathy, noticing when those in their care need extra support or encouragement. They always seem to be happy, no matter how busy they are. We were welcome at any time in the last two weeks of her life and will never forget the kindness shown her and to us. As a family, we are content that she was able to spend her last days there. Many, many thanks. I would not hesitate to recommend Rivendale Lodge to anyone seeking an excellent home from home for a loved one.

I want to thank you for all the care Mum receives. Since living at Rivendale Lodge she has become calm and cheerful and feels secure. She belongs to a safe and caring home where you know her so well and what she needs even when she doesn't. When my Dad used to visit you helped him come to terms with her dementia and cared for him also, which he appreciated. He said, "She is in a beautiful house where up to 20 other men and women are lovingly cared for by a devoted staff; they are like a big family. I am welcome to visit every day, and I enjoy the Friday fish lunch, with the most succulent chips in Eastbourne followed by lemon meringue pie. "

It is such a comfort to know Mum is getting the best care and everything she needs from your caring and professional staff.

The standards of care at Rivendale Lodge are beyond praise. Every time I visited I was greeted by smiling caring staff. My mother in law was given the highest standard of care and every aspect of her needs was met. The standard of training was the highest I have seen in my very long career in medicine. I would without hesitation recommend this caring establishment to anyone.

My heartiest congratulations for having achieved such a commendable standard.

Jeanette Essaadi
Jeanette EssaadiJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2006

I've been the Registered Manager at Rivendale Lodge for over 20 years, and my career in care began long before that. I first started working with people with learning disabilities when I was 15, more than 45 years ago, and I've never looked back. Caring for people with complex needs has always felt like my purpose.

I'm passionate about making sure our residents live the best life they can, right through to the end of their lives. Rivendale has been a long-standing, well-led service because of the dedication of the team around me, many of whom have been here for years. Staff don't just work here; they stay, grow, and become part of the home. That loyalty means everything to me.

I believe in that service so much that I trusted Rivendale to care for my own father. It's always been more than a workplace to me. It's a family, a home, and a place where people are supported with dignity, compassion, and respect every single day.
