Overall Experience
The Bill House is a truly unique care home. It feels calm, which is important for those with dementia, and the residents are very well looked after, settled, and happy. The quality of care is exceptional. This is reflected in the ethos and standards of the manager and her senior management team.
The manager and her team moved heaven and earth to make it possible for my mother to move into The Bill House. For the first time in a long time, my mother now feels happy and safe.
The house and grounds are fantastic. The enclosed dementia garden and sea views beyond are stunning. Residents are stimulated and encouraged to interact and find joy in life.
The manager cares deeply about her residents, as does her team.

All of the above is what should happen in a care home. The reality is that it often does not. This review is not written lightly. It is written from experience gained over the last few years. I only wish that I had found The Bill House earlier.

Mum was in for 2 week respite care and we had concerns about her going in to a home for the first time, these were unfounded as the care she received was excellent and the home was very clean and homely. The staff and manager were also very kind and helpful.
The atmosphere was more like a hotel than care home

I think mum was sad to leave and we would have no worries about future respite or permanent care

Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely review. We're delighted to hear that your mum's first experience of respite care was so positive and that she felt comfortable and well looked after during her stay. It's wonderful to know that our home felt welcoming and homely; that's exactly the...

The care Mum received was second to none, in fact, Mum could not have received better care anywhere else. All the staff are caring, thoughtful, kind, professional, friendly and patient. I cannot speak highly enough of all of them, from Management, to senior carers, carers and activity co-ordinators. It was as if friends were looking after Mum. they really do care. I highly recommended the Bill House to anyone. Additionally, it is so clean everywhere, the sea views are stunning and the dementia friendly garden is wonderful.

My dad was at the Bill House for just over 6 months and I couldn't fault the care he received. It was more like being looked after by friends who took the time to get to know the person and not just care by numbers. My dad had advanced dementia when he came in but his last months were made as happy and comfortable as possible, my only regret is that he did not go in much earlier where he could have enjoyed the activities and the garden with such a lovely sea view. Thank you all.

My father was moved to The Bill House primarily because of his dementia, however he also presented with many other medical issues so it was important we found the right setting for him. Right from our first meeting with the manager at The Bill House we were reassured that this would be a place that he could move to and be well cared for. We were not wrong. The staff could not have been more attentive, kind and understanding to our father, always cheerful and respectful, both amongst themselves and to all the residents. The team here are amazing, the setting is incredibly beautiful and we always knew Dad was receiving the best possible care and attention right to the end. I could not recommend the manager and her team highly enough for the care of anyone's loved one.

We have found the staff to be caring, polite and helpful. My mother is well looked after and we don't have to worry. Also, the house is in an excellent location. The staff were so supportive when my father passed away and they ensured my mother was happy.

Our dear mother had dementia and moved to the Bill House, she had a wonderful last 6 months at the Bill House and was looked after so beautifully by the kind and gentle staff.
The staff always went out of their way to make our mother happy and were very patient and kind we could not have wanted a better place.
I visited many care homes before choosing the Bill House and it was by far the most homely, tasteful and stylish of any homes I saw.
The Bill House is so unique it feels like someone's lovely country house. The setting is incredible overlooking the sea and has a fantastic calmness. Our Mother especially loved the tiled conservatory room that overlooked the sea and the beautiful bedroom with sea views.

I am so thrilled that I finally found the Bill House after months of depressing research at many other care homes. The staff are truly selfless and kind and a special thanks to Irene who always had time for everyone.

My mother spent the last eight months of her life at The Bill House, including her 100th birthday. She was suffering from bad Alzheimer's, including being rude to everyone. I cannot speak too highly of this care home and its staff. It is a dementia-specialist home and so the staff have to have infinite reserves of patience. This they do have. I never saw staff chatting amongst themselves and ignoring residents, instead they were always engaging with the residents in a good-humoured way. And you know that stale urine smell you get in a care home? It's not there at The Bill House. The rooms are clean, but more importantly the residents are clean. For my mother's 100th birthday party they made their summer house available for a Sunday family party, and then a few days later on her actual birthday they threw their own party for her in the home. And did I mention the location? Right by the beach with a huge garden and lawns. I cannot recommend this home too highly.

Residents are well cared for, and over the last month, have been provided with a range of stimulating activities. A beautiful beach view and gardens are very well kept.
I feel happy that Mum's needs are always taken care of and she is well supported.
Better communication would greatly improve the service, such as a timely update on how the resident is progressing/deteriorating or being notified of appointments that have taken place.
Management is available when needed, and problems are dealt with swiftly.

A lovely home.

We are very pleased with the care my Dad receives at The Bill House. The carers are very friendly towards him and me and I know he is in safe hands. He is kept busy and seems to have plenty of one to one activity time with the carers. There is a lovely happy atmosphere in the place. The building has been recently renovated and decorated to a very high standard.
