Making a decision for your loved one is a difficult task especially when Residential Care sometimes receives adverse publicity. Cresta Lodge is owned and managed by a local family who live in South Norfolk. The company pride themselves in always looking to improve the service they offer and making sure the Resident comes first in whatever they do. The family is involved on a daily basis with each home supporting the Managers to ensure an ‘excellent’ service is maintained to all Residents.

Cresta Lodge is situated just a few miles south of Norwich in the village of Poringland surrounded by beautiful gardens, Cresta is a home for elderly people with the early stages of Dementia.

The company are proud of the homes they offer, careful to make sure they feel like a home rather than a hotel, using good quality furnishings and making sure they are well maintained inside and out.

Long standing manager, is supported by a well trained team of staff who proudly deliver person centred care, daily activities, and lovely traditional home cooked food.

My dad was taken into this carehome with very complex needs. After he had settled in nicely. He has had the very best of care. Right through from the management to all the staff. As a visitor to the home they make you feel so welcome. Keep up the good work.

The staff are very dedicated to their roles. My mother went from almost bed ridden to walking (with a frame) within 4 weeks of her stay. This enabled her to be able to return home permanently. All the staff are friendly and caring. The decor in the home could do with updating and would be really good
if there was more space in the living area when visiting.

Mum has needed a great deal of care as her dementia has progressed. All The staff at Cresta Lodge have treated her with the utmost dignity, kindness, and concern for her welfare. They have also supported the family and worked with us to get the best possible care plan in place. Mum is safe, treated
with real affection, and has access to medical care from the local surgery whenever we are worried. Communication is excellent. Cresta staff feel like family to us now.

I only have praise for the staff that work at Cresta, everyone goes above and beyond in their care of residents. The staff made it such a happy place for the residents, my mum received care that would be beyond anyone’s wildest expectations. My mum enjoyed participating in the many activities, themed
events, parties, craft making, music singer visits, the chef's fabulous birthday cakes, and his cooking and day-to-day life. She always told me that everyone there was lovely and caring, she felt special. I can look back on my mum’s time at Cresta and feel happy in the knowledge that my mum received the best care and was happy living there, we feel very lucky indeed.
Five stars for absolutely everything!

My father initially was a resident at Cresta Lodge until he died in February 2021. He suffered from dementia and was very well looked after by the team at Cresta. My mother joined him when her health seriously deteriorated. We really feel the staff know Mum's needs and genuinely cares about her. It
is reassuring to know she is being so well looked after.

My father was at Cresta Lodge for 2.5 years and throughout that time he was cared for in a considerate and humble manner throughout. We were very comforted by the knowledge he was getting the best care possible. Overall the manager and her team are a credit to the profession! Thanks very much from us
all. 100% recommended.

My sister and brother-in-law moved into Cresta Lodge last October, unfortunately, my brother-in-law passed away in July. My sister remains in their care. It is a lovely care home but I do feel the lounge is a bit small for the number of residents.

I had my doubts when my friend was first admitted, being a professional person. I thought that she might be difficult and find it hard to adjust but the staff have been wonderful and tended to her every need both real and imaginary. She has enjoyed most of the activities and joins in with entertainment.
Cresta Lodge is a lovely friendly place, no nasty smells when you come through the door. Could do with a bit more space but it would spoil it if made bigger.

My cousin is very happy at the home and more than happy to spend the rest of her days there. She says the food is very nice and a good variety. She is quite happy to sit and watch other people around her and having a laugh and chat with them.
She takes part in some activities but mainly likes to have
a doze. Also, the staff are wonderful and always on hand to offer help.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
There is always a warm welcome from the staff when visiting our mother. It is so lovely to be able to call in at any reasonable time of the day for a chat. The home is filled with laughter as staff go about their business and the residents are included in the banter. Nothing is too much trouble and
my concerns are addressed without fail.

There are a number of outside visits which are planned throughout the year for the residents and entertainers who attend the home.

The home is well maintained and always clean. It would be nice to see some splashes of colour in the lounge as so many of the residents spend a lot of time in this area.

The garden is very peaceful and is used by the residents sometimes for lunch or beverages.

Cresta Lodge cares for my mum, who has advanced Alzheimers. From her first day there to the present day, they have cared admirably for her throughout the advancement of her illness.
Staff have included the family in decisions and planning around her care. Conversations with the staff at Cresta Lodge
are friendly and sensitive.
As a family, there are no restrictions to visiting my mum.
The staff and manager are caring and thoughtful towards my mum and her family at all times.
As a family, we feel she is well cared for and safe at Cresta Lodge.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.253)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.253) out of 10 for Cresta Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.653 for Cresta Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.653
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cresta Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
