Coniston House

Visit Dad on a regular basis, take him out for lunch and watch the ships. Dad is settled and very well looked after. His room is lovely. The staff are bright, cheery, friendly and very helpful. The annual BBQ was a great afternoon of fun, laughter, chat and good food. It was lovely time spent with Dad and his friends and staff within Dad's environment. Dad loves the food and always tells us so. A lovely care home all round. Amazing staff.

I find the care and suppose given to my mum since her arrival at Coniston House to be of a very professional care and I find the staff welcoming and offering a strong duty of care to all the residence.

Manager, nurses, carers, kitchen staff, maintenance team and housekeepers all go over and above to provide a happy and safe environment for residents.

Mum has been at Coniston House for almost a year. It took her a while to settle in. Thanks to the staff she now seems happy and content. We are always made to feel very welcome when we visit. The staff are very professional and hardworking while remaining cheerful. Her bedroom isn't large, but she has all that she needs. She enjoys the activities & handicrafts and has her hair done every week. We are very happy with the standard of care, it is reassuring to know that mum is always safe and well looked after.

I visit my sister once/twice weekly. She seems to have settled in quite well. As she has dementia she finds it difficult to communicate this is because she find it quite noisy sometimes with what is going on. If possible it would be nice to have a quiet room at the home.

I am always greeted warmly and treated with respect and served a lovely cup of tea or coffee.

My dad was in a purpose built nursing/residential home in Hertfordshire and it felt very impersonal and cold. He moved to Coniston House and was greeted warmly, treated with respect and dignity at all times. His room was light and clean and he had his own toilet and sink. He was near the kitchen and the front door and could hear the doorbell going and people chatting in the kitchen and he settled in there like he was at home. The staff were amazing and kept you up to date.

My mother was a resident at Coniston House from 2007-2016 when she passed away. I saw a great improvement in the home during this time. The home had a 'family' feel and the carers were kind, helpful and knew each resident well as an individual. There was more consistency of staffing during the later years of mum's stay. There was a big improvement of the home - the outside area was developed to allow residents to go outside. Mum was well looked after at Coniston House and I always felt welcome when I visited. They employ an activities coordinator and hold family events during the year. The staff are trained to deal with patients with dementia and the residents were treated with respect.

Mum was quite happy with the quality and quantity of food and drinks provided. From being very reluctant to go into residential care, she settled happily after a few weeks, enjoying the fact her 'independent spirit' was respected wherever possible.

The care which mum received at Coniston House was exceptional. The staff were patient, attentive and caring. They treated my mum like she was their mum and nothing was ever too much trouble for her or for us as her family.

My mother was a resident at Coniston House for several years. The term 'care home' is particularly relevant because they really did care about her. She really mattered to them. The way that they dealt with her and us, in her last few weeks, also showed the same.

I always found the staff helpful and caring. The home was clean and tidy. The staff always tried to include residents and visitors in events and to ensure that the atmosphere was relaxed and caring.

I think it was the feeling of when you first entered that the residents seemed relaxed and at home. I just hope that if I or my wife need a care home in the future we find one like Coniston House

The care home which my father is in is outstanding. The care and love they show him is exceptional. They have experienced some deaths recently which they must be attached to and still, that does not stop them caring. Marked down in facilities because it would be nice for the staff to have proper rest area not a table in the resident's area. Given as much love as it was at home.
