My dear Mum, who passed away last month, had spent 3 years 9 months at Camplehaye. I have previously reviewed Camplehaye, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude and thanks to the devoted team who cared for my mum with such warmth and dedication right until the end. End of life care was managed with kindness, dignity and respect, and, right to the end, my Mum never lost her smile or her cheeky sense of humour, a sign that she was settled and happy. Throughout my mum's time at Camplehaye she and the team had a special, reciprocal bond, and for that myself, and my family are forever grateful to everyone at Camplehaye. I highly recommend Camplehaye Residential Home.
Thank you for your kind words, it was our pleasure looking after Mum and she will be deeply missed within the home.
Every member of staff has been kind, considerate and treated my mum with dignity and humour.
I am very happy to know that mum is receiving the very best care.
It broke my heart when she was placed there by SS but I couldn't have wished for a better home. She was not only well cared for but she was loved. Knowing how difficult alzheimers is for any carer, the staff were exceptional showing patience, consideration and care even in the most difficult scenarios.
Toward the end of my wife days the staff were wonderful and showed us much consideration and kindness ensuring we the family were also cared as we stayed at her bedside in her last few days.
I simply could not have coped at home and did end up collapsing with the weight and strain of 24/7 sole care responsibilities.
Thank god I found Camplehaye, for my wife, me and all the family.
Words of thanks will never be enough.
I shall miss visiting but am grateful that she passed in peace surrounded by love.
Thank you so much for a lovely review, SS was a larger than life character and will be missed ,her bird table stands tall in the garden as a reminder of her, you are always welcome for a coffee.
The management and staff make this home, their dedication is exceptional. All the staff in the home make it their business to make life as good for the residents as possible.Their caring attitude and patience and understanding made things as good for my father as possible. The understanding and compassion shown by all the staff helped to make my father's last months as happy as they could and stayed with him and comforted him as he passed.
They could not have done more, they also offered support to me should I have wanted it.
Thank you so much for such a kind review, your father had a lovely cheeky smile and a twinkle in his eye which we sadly miss and will not forget.
The care received at Camplehaye was very thoughtful and caring. All staff members did their very best to ensure that the time spent at the home was as comfortable as possible. Food was excellent and suited to the dietary needs.
My mum was transferred direct from hospital to Camplehaye Residential Home and from the word go we have been so impressed. The staff have been so kind and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled really quickly and decided she'd like to stay. The Christmas party today was just great with so many people involved and felt so honest - really just so impressed by all the carers and staff at the home.
Thank you for your kind review. Mum is such a lovely lady and a pleasure to have stay with us.
Friendly caring home with good working practices, safe environment, well maintained both equipment and the setting. Person centered individual care, communication with next of kin excellent, responsive to meeting changing needs of residents. High standards of staff training is apparent in all aspects from manual handling to personal care. Secure setting, wide range of activities - seasonal themes. Dogs welcomed, very important plus therapy dog visits.
Many thanks for your kind review, we do our very best to ensure that all residents are cared for in a person centred manner.
The positive happy energy and atmosphere here is amazing. The whole team of staff are absolutely fantastic, caring and superbly communicative with my family member and all the other residents. The team have music on in the lounge for their residents to listen to and sing along to if they wish to. Plus there's a television in this room too. Also great daily activities to participate in if they would like to for example themed drawing and painting, remembrance poppies, Christmas tree's etc. Not forgetting various other activities too.
It's absolutely wonderful to see how well cared for my Mum in-law is here and gives my husband and I peace of mind. Also she has a lovely room with tv when she wants quiet time on her own to relax.
The food and drink at Camplehaye is excellent as well.
Thankyou so much " Team Camplehaye" for all you do for your residents. You are all truly fabulous.
From the first initial phone call, to the transition of moving in, we were kept informed and supported throughout the process. We cannot thank the whole team enough for the love, care, compassion and understanding shown not only to my husband but also to us during his 3 week stay, which sadly were his last 3 weeks with us. Those 3 weeks were filled with a level of care that we couldn't have given my husband at home. We will always remember Camplehaye with gratitude and thank you all dearly.
Care/support: due to understaffing, the call bells were frequently left to ring. For instance, one time it took over 45 minutes for them to come in, by which time it was too late. (She needed the toilet). This was the norm rather than the exception.
Cleanliness: very clean.
Treated with dignity: mostly.
Food and drink: small portions. Didn't always get what she asked for. Was forgotten once.
Staff: kind, caring and friendly but clearly overworked.
Safety/security: Fort Knox to get into/out of but residents are left to wander. We saw them in the kitchens and they kept coming into my mum's room and touching her belongings. Towards the end, a stair gate was provided to stop them coming in at night.
Overall: acceptable. Family would need to keep up with the care provided.
The room allocated is one that is used for respite and although slightly smaller than some of the other rooms, it does meet CQC requirements and does have ensuite facilities which are perfectly adequate.
During your mother's...
Short of staff to fulfil duties at crucial times ie, toilet and being left unattended. I feel for older residents, their food should be manageable to eat ie, meat cut up, not rock hard and overcooked pasties. Call button should be always available to use, needs checking.
Entertainment is very poor, when they are doing one to one with this, all of the other residents are left to watch the telly in the main room, not with a member of staff present. They just walk through and sometimes glance over to see all is OK but in the main, they don't.
Since my wife has been a resident she has been treated with nothing but kindness. She is so well looked after and everything is done for her. I have every confidence in them and their professional ways of dealing with anything that crops up, nothing seems to upset them or put them out. They are a great lot.
My experience with the Care home has been overall very good. The staff are very helpful and take time out to ensure my dad has some social interaction through the day as he is somewhat restricted to his room. As a result, my Dad has now built good relationships with most of the staff. My Dad has reported that the food is good and wholesome and on most occasions, he can have more if he needs it.
My mother lived at Camplehaye Residential Home for 18 months. We found the care to be extremely good. All the staff were caring and attentive. My mother's room was spacious and had a very nice outlook.
