Accomodation - 2 old residential houses combined into Glendale care home works, but could benefit from some modernisation - eg: installation of lifts (to supplement chairlifts). An emergency could be a major problem (especially fire) to evacuate older, frail, disabled residents.
Staffing - blessed with a team of friendly, trained, multinationals who provide the caring needs of an older (demanding) generation of residents. Always with a pleasant attitude - WELL DONE ALL! Could need a few more staff over weekends, when delays on calls were longer than usual.
Entertainment/Facilities - although resident's response wasn't always strong, the programmes were frequent, varied & tailored to suit your residents - thank you.
Food - excellent! Choice, quality, variety - could not fault the kitchen/catering staff/

Laundry - good (generally) - but items not always returned to OWNERS!

Mum has not been well lately, she has pneumonia at the moment and is being cared for so well. Staff always ring me if there is anything they think I should know. When Mum is well, they all look after her with care and dignity.

My father went into the home following ill health, and it was a decision taken out of our hands. All staff made him feel safe and secure, which put all our minds at rest. The staff made it their mission to settle Dad and enable him to take part in activities and lunch in the dining room.

We are very grateful for the kindness, compassion and care provided by the whole team. A lovely, friendly team of staff that made us very welcome and looked after Dad in his final weeks.

Reply from Claire Douglas, Clinical Director at Glendale Court

My wife's dad went into the home in Aug 2025. It was not an easy entry for the management & staff. he hasn't got a diagnosis and he was difficult. We have been so impressed and can't thank all the staff enough. Especially the staff who deal with him and the person in charge of medicines. Always happy, always informative, always keen to help etc. The ladies and gentlemen in there seem so settled. Well done to all the staff.

Glendale Court is such a warm and homely care home. The staff are lovely and always willing to help & listen. They treat my mum with respect and dignity. She smiles when a member of staff enters the room. The assistant manager goes above & beyond to ensure staff and residents are cared for properly and cares deeply.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at Glendale Court for six months. She was initially reluctant to stay but having regular meals, toilet assistance and friendly, chatty carers has changed her opinion and she now realises that she is better cared for and less lonely than living in her old home. Mum would prefer that her meals were a little warmer and her view from her room is only a blank wall. The resident's call alarm is situated outside her room but as she is hard of hearing this is not an issue. Mum is very content now and in good health.

The staff have been committed over several years to the care of my mother. There have been times when they have gone beyond just a professional and efficient service. I think they have got to know my mother and often make her smile. I am very grateful to this hard-working team of individuals. They are kind, not only to my mother but to her family as well.
