  • The Rise Care Home, Dawlish
The Rise Care Home is a beautiful country house set in nine acres of landscaped gardens with wonderful views over the hills and woodlands of Dawlish in the South Devon countryside. The qualified staff at The Rise provide high quality residential care for up to thirty-six elderly residents. Whilst most residents are long term, respite and convalescent care is also available.

The Georgian house has been tastefully converted to a residential home for elderly ladies and gentlemen and many of the original features have been retained. The main hallway leads to a large lounge, family room and beautiful dining room.

A lift serves the bedrooms on the first floor. There are both single and double rooms available. All rooms are appointed to a high standard and have either en-suite facilities or a designated bathroom. Each room has a 24 hour call system, television and private telephone points.

The first floor has been extended to offer an open plan dining and lounge area, with direct access to an outdoor seating space over looking some of the beautiful gardens.

From the minute you walk into The Rise with lovely decor it feels warm and friendly. My Godmother has been a resident for over 2 years .she is well looked after. The choice of meals are amazing. The staff so friendly. The care given is one hundred percent. I myself have worked in homes. Would definitely
recommend The Rise for short stays and even like my godmother she is there permanently. There are a number of activities which I think are important they have singers come into the home. They arrange coffee mornings. Residents have something going on every day. Well done from Management to all staff. For making my Godmother stay so pleasant.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Its lovely to have such positive feedback and we are pleased to hear you are happy with the care your Godmother is receiving. Here at The Rise we strive to make sure all our residents are happy and well cared for. We also feel it is very important for them to have daily activities as this apart from the "home cooked food" can be the highlight of their day and a time to meet up with the other residents and make friendships.

My dad moved into The Rise in October 22. My brother and sister are like me so pleased we chose The Rise. The staff are fantastic and the quality of care very high. As a regular visitor you quickly get to see how well the home works. Visitors are always welcomed and the staff are always happy to give
updates. I can't fault The Rise and all the staff, they are very professional and inspire full confidence. A truly excellent home!

The Rise is an absolutely fabulous facility. The staff are so kind and compassionate and clearly so fond of and lovely with my mum who has dementia. There are loads of activities to keep her entertained and the food is great: in a grand dining hall with menus so they feel like they're at a nice restaurant.
The gardens are stunning. The whole place feels like a lovely country hotel. It's amazing. All my fears about what "putting my mum in a home" would be like have been allayed. I couldn't be happier that I chose the Rise.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.931)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.931) out of 10 for The Rise Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Rise Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.931 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Rise Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.2 = 0.556

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
