I cannot recommend Long Close and all the staff who work there enough. We needed to urgently find a care home for our Mum at the end of Nov 2025. Within an hour of the initial phone call enquiry the Deputy care home manager visited mum in her flat, assessed her and within 2 days mum had moved in. Her en suite room is very well equipped. The staff are incredibly attentive, professional, and friendly at all times. The Management Team are an absolute delight and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has had deteriorating health issues since Christmas and the staff at Long Close have gone above and beyond to meet her increasing needs. My sister and I visit regularly but we also get a daily update on Mum which is very reassuring. Dietary needs are fully met with a good variety on the menu.
Long Close are excellent at contacting external health providers such a GP, nurses, opticians etc.

I would thoroughly recommend Long Close to any family looking for an excellent home for their elderl relative

My mother has been a resident at Long Close for the past 3 months and has received exceptional care from all the lovely staff there. It is a small, warm ,welcoming & friendly home with a lovely atmosphere. It was lovely that the deputy manager was waiting at the entrance when mum first arrived to welcome us.

The food is excellent & prepared by their chefs, always freshly made! There are activities such as chair yoga and musical entertainment every week which the residents enjoy. My mother settled in well and knew Long Close from when she visited her aunt there many years earlier, so knew when the time came that was where she wanted to be. Her recent increasing needs have been fully met by the lovely team who have kept us regularly updated which has been so reassuring for the family. We would wholeheartedly recommend Long Close & the wonderful compassionate care given.

Staff all so friendly and welcoming. Couldn't do enough to ensure the care was personalised and room was exactly as my friend needed/ wanted. Very attentive. So reassuring to know how well she is cared for and how relaxed she feels at Long Close and how quickly she has settled in. The staff have been available when needed but also helped her to maintain and regain independence.

I honestly cannot recommend this home enough. My friend who is like a grandparent to me recently had a fall resulting in a wrist fracture and has had the pleasure of coming to Long Close while she gets back onto her feet. The team are incredible and genuinely couldn't do more to make their residents feel welcome, comfortable and happy. As an NHS doctor I hear far too often about the limited and sub optimal services available for the older population. Long close has truly shown there are still places that really do go above and beyond for their residents. All staff are so friendly, the meals are excellent and (especially for someone who has historically not liked the idea of anything other than being in her own house) my friend has felt so settled and looked after that she is in no rush at all to get back to her house. Thank you so much to the amazing staff at Long Close, keep doing what you are doing, you are setting an incredibly high standard.

I feel so grateful to know my mum is living in such a special care home - where the staff are exceptional and genuinely caring plus very professional. Mum has been able to personalize her room with her own pictures and paintings, so she feels at home. As a daughter who loves her mum so much - the welcome has been incredible, where key staff and leadership were all waiting for mums arrival to provide mum, my brother and grandson with such a warm welcome. Management have been outstanding in educating family of key processes such as renewing Mums medication, registering her with a local doctor, arranging a hairdressers plus sensitively discussing what happens towards end of life, so everything is clear with no surprises. All the carers are so kind hearted and care for the residents . The food is prepared on site by qualified chefs and the food is delicious and nutritious . I can't speak highly enough about the home, which has provided me with peace of mind knowing mum is safe and happy.

Review from M B (Cousin of Resident) published on 12 May 2025 Submitted via Postal Card

My cousin has lived here for 3 1/2 years. Her needs have increased significantly, but nothing is too much trouble for the carers. They are always cheerful and respectful to my cousin, including when I arrive outside the room unannounced. My cousin regularly tells me how much she likes it here, and how kind everyone is. She chose Long Close because she used to visit a friend there about ten years ago and knew how good it was. When she moved in, some of the staff remembered her.

My cousin is now bedbound, so carers spend time, 1/1 with her, talking and doing puzzles. My cousin tells me she gets lots of visitors, sadly, she doesn't but, she thinks the carers are visitors. The home has seasonal decorations, currently Easter Eggs, bunny ornaments, and even rabbit skittles. Other events, such as Christmas, the coronation, saw the home decorated. A small thing, seasonal serviettes, helps my cousin understand the time of year. Whenever I visit a member of the management team, is about. The carers always make time to speak to me. This is helpful, when I have had a difficult visit with my cousin,

Long Close retirement home is an outstanding care home in every aspect. The owner, manager and care staff are all really friendly, warm and welcoming - this creates such a lovely, warm, happy atmosphere as soon as you set foot in the home. The staff are extremely caring and attentive to the needs of the residents, always making sure that they feel happy, comfortable, safe and cared for. They have a great programme of regular activities and weekly musical entertainment, which is really important for the residents' happiness and well-being. The care staff team usually get involved to make it even more fun for everyone - they sing along with the residents, and also get some of the them up dancing! This is really great, good for the residents and so much fun! Highly recommended care home, where you can have peace of mind that your family will receive the highest standard of care.

I come to Long Close every Wednesday morning to take a Chair Yoga class with the residents. (Have been coming here for around a year now.) The residents are always engaged and happy while joining in, and have excellent mobility, flexibility, balance and strength.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly whenever I'm here. The home is always clean and tidy, and the food smells amazing! (Roast dinner on Wednesdays!!)
I absolutely love coming to Long Close to take classes, and would 100% recommend to anyone who wanted to live here, or if someone was looking for a home for a loved one. You can really tell the residents are taken care of, and there's always a lovely atmosphere.

Thank you everyone at Long Close! Looking forward to next Wednesday!

My mother has been at Long Close for over a couple of years and in that time the care she has received has been outstanding.
During this last year, my mother has been kept safe due to the protocols that they put in place for Covid 19 this was established and implemented before the government formally announced any. This has meant they have saved all their residents and staff.

I cannot thank them enough.
