I feel so grateful to know my mum is living in such a special care home - where the staff are exceptional and genuinely caring plus very professional. Mum has been able to personalize her room with her own pictures and paintings, so she feels at home. As a daughter who loves her mum so much - the welcome
has been incredible, where key staff and leadership were all waiting for mums arrival to provide mum, my brother and grandson with such a warm welcome. Management have been outstanding in educating family of key processes such as renewing Mums medication, registering her with a local doctor, arranging a hairdressers plus sensitively discussing what happens towards end of life, so everything is clear with no surprises. All the carers are so kind hearted and care for the residents . The food is prepared on site by qualified chefs and the food is delicious and nutritious . I can't speak highly enough about the home, which has provided me with peace of mind knowing mum is safe and happy.

My cousin has lived here for 3 1/2 years. Her needs have increased significantly, but nothing is too much trouble for the carers. They are always cheerful and respectful to my cousin, including when I arrive outside the room unannounced. My cousin regularly tells me how much she likes it here, and how
kind everyone is. She chose Long Close because she used to visit a friend there about ten years ago and knew how good it was. When she moved in, some of the staff remembered her.
My cousin is now bedbound, so carers spend time, 1/1 with her, talking and doing puzzles. My cousin tells me she gets lots of visitors, sadly, she doesn't but, she thinks the carers are visitors. The home has seasonal decorations, currently Easter Eggs, bunny ornaments, and even rabbit skittles. Other events, such as Christmas, the coronation, saw the home decorated. A small thing, seasonal serviettes, helps my cousin understand the time of year. Whenever I visit a member of the management team, is about. The carers always make time to speak to me. This is helpful, when I have had a difficult visit with my cousin,

Long Close retirement home is an outstanding care home in every aspect. The owner, manager and care staff are all really friendly, warm and welcoming - this creates such a lovely, warm, happy atmosphere as soon as you set foot in the home. The staff are extremely caring and attentive to the needs
of the residents, always making sure that they feel happy, comfortable, safe and cared for. They have a great programme of regular activities and weekly musical entertainment, which is really important for the residents' happiness and well-being. The care staff team usually get involved to make it even more fun for everyone - they sing along with the residents, and also get some of the them up dancing! This is really great, good for the residents and so much fun! Highly recommended care home, where you can have peace of mind that your family will receive the highest standard of care.

I come to Long Close every Wednesday morning to take a Chair Yoga class with the residents. (Have been coming here for around a year now.) The residents are always engaged and happy while joining in, and have excellent mobility, flexibility, balance and strength.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly
whenever I'm here. The home is always clean and tidy, and the food smells amazing! (Roast dinner on Wednesdays!!)
I absolutely love coming to Long Close to take classes, and would 100% recommend to anyone who wanted to live here, or if someone was looking for a home for a loved one. You can really tell the residents are taken care of, and there's always a lovely atmosphere.
Thank you everyone at Long Close! Looking forward to next Wednesday!

My mother has been at Long Close for over a couple of years and in that time the care she has received has been outstanding.
During this last year, my mother has been kept safe due to the protocols that they put in place for Covid 19 this was established and implemented before the government formally
announced any. This has meant they have saved all their residents and staff.
I cannot thank them enough.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.461)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.461) out of 10 for Long Close Retirement Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Long Close Retirement Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Long Close Retirement Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 17 registered maximum number of service users is 3.4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
