This review is to express my extreme gratitude for all the care and dignity shown toward my dad - from the start until the very end. I was moved by the level of compassion, which really came sharply into focus during the last couple of weeks, which make an immense difference. I've not been so touched.
My father was able to express himself, and the care staff really knew him. I am so pleased he was given that opportunity, even though he was way past top from by the time he arrived here. It's not often that a business has a slogan up the front (along the lines of 'they don't live in your place of work, you work in their home') and actually lives up to it!

I would recommend this care home to everyone.

My mother was in Guild House for roughly 2 1/2 years towards the end, she passed away 1st Feb 2026 she was reliant on help for all tasks. Staff very attentive and coped with mums little foibles with patience and kindness. Although not mobile she was encouraged to attend the many events which she enjoyed taking part in. Encouraged through conversation to keep her mind active re: memories and family. She was always saying how happy she was there + being well looked after!! Thanks Guild House for your care.

The care my mother received was second to none and I cannot thank the manager and staff enough. Best of all were the daily activities that kept the residents occupied. No one is left vegetating in their rooms or dumped in a chair in a communal lounge unless that is their personal choice. Never in a million years did I expect to see my mother doing Tai Chi at the age of 90. Guild House be proud you are amazing!

My brother was so well looked after at Guild House. We had had a really bad experience at another home during his respite care and Guild house was like a haven. We really can't fault it. The staff were so caring and did everything, under very difficult circumstances, to make my brother's last few months as comfortable as possible.

Thank you so much for sharing these kind words. All of us at Guild House are truly grateful that you entrusted us with your brothers care. We are deeply sorry for the difficult experience you had elsewhere, but we are glad to know that our team was able to provide comfort, dignity, and support...

Mum had been a resident at Guild House since 2018. She was extremely happy there and couldn't have been better cared for even if she was the Queen. As her dementia deteriorated every care was taken to cater for all of her needs and when she passed the staff also cared for us. An amazing group of people for which we will be forever grateful. Bless every one of them.

My parents first came to Guild House Residential Home for respite, following hospital stays. That had been having home care visits, but we're falling and not managing. The staff at the home made them feel safe and secure. They decided to stay. They particularly enjoy all the activities and outside entertainers that come in. My dad loves the home made food. All the staff treat my parents with dignity and respect. It is a great weight off my mind knowing that they are so well looked after. Thank you.

I could not be happier with the care and attention my beloved wife, who has advanced dementia, receives as a resident at Guild House in Gloucester.
All the staff, from the senior management team down to those charged with the most basic tasks, are superbly trained in dealing with those in their care and they do so with dignity and good humour.
On my daily visits, I have been most impressed over the past months that the staff always refer to the residents personally by their first names and are prepared to take time to, listen to, respond to and make eye contact with those in their care.

My wife seems at home at Guild House now, which is a comfort to me beyond measure. She is being looked after there far better than I could possibly hope to do so by myself at home, and I thoroughly recommend this care home to you.

I was very happy with the care that my mother received during her stay at Guild House. In particular, the last days of her life were dealt with kindness and sympathy and the support we received was exemplary.

My husband was very well looked after by caring and dedicated staff. He spent two weeks on Grace Wing and was very content. The care he received was of a high standard and he responded well to being in a homely environment.

At the end of November 2023, my Father went to live in Guild House, his welcome was warm and friendly and he soon settled into a new routine, particularly enjoying the lovely meals. At the beginning of this year, he became unwell and needed more help, this was provided with care and kindness. his last few weeks were difficult for him and the family as he grew weaker, everything that could be done to make him more comfortable was done, this was a great comfort to the family.

Guild House is an excellent care home. You would be very demanding to find anywhere better. The staff are well trained and caring. No problem is too difficult to resolve, this is a particular requirement when caring for dementia residents.

My mum is a resident and really enjoys all the activities. She is always doing something, from crafts to playing group games. The home is very good at getting everyone in the family involved too; they really include us as a family.

Emma GardnerJob Title:Registered Manager

Hi, my name’s Emma and I have been working for the Trust at Guild House for 18 years. I started as a Care Assistant, all those years ago and rose through the ranks until I was given the opportunity to become a Registered Manager last year (2022). When I am not at work, I like spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy going to Devon on my holidays where I can be found on a boat either fishing or having the odd drink or two.

Moya Neighbour
Moya NeighbourJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2005

I am the deputy manager at Guild House. I have worked for the trust for around 18 years, although I did have a gap when I went to university and trained as a nurse. I started as a care assistant working weekends and then went up to a Shift Leader, then Dementia Lead and then Head of Care. I do love working with the elderly and we have a great team of people here who all want to ensure the residents have the best possible care. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and going on walks with my dog.

Kate Swanson
Kate SwansonJob Title:Home Administrator
My name is Kate.
I have been working with Gloucester Charities Trust for just over 6 years, at the Head Office and then here at Guild House Residential Home. I’m the Home Administrator and love working here at Guild House as my role is so varied, with no one day being the same as the next. I have the privilege of working with our lovely Residents, meeting their families and being of general assistance to staff and those enquiring about Residential Care for their loved ones.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and get out exploring our glorious countryside. This usually involves either me Horse Riding or Walking out in the beautiful Forest of Dean/Gloucestershire and further away up steep hills or mountains too! I also find time to support my local Community Hall by being involved in arranging Community events.
