Reviews

9.3 Watermoor House has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.308)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Watermoor House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Watermoor House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.308 for Watermoor House is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.308

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Watermoor House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7.8 positive Reviews (39 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 7.8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother moved to Watermoor House almost seven years ago. She passed away in July 2017. During that time, both she and I were impressed by the warmth and dedication of the staff.

With the support from managers and the whole team, my mother was able to spend her final days in her own lovely room. Many of the staff went above and beyond to ensure that she was as comfortable as possible. Our family felt very well supported by all as well.

My mother moved from a care home in Suffolk to Watermoor House ten months ago and has settled really well. Her mobility and mental capacity has improved since she has been in Watermoor House. The staff are all very friendly and caring and Mum is dealt with in a very dignified manner. She is encouraged to join in with the many varied entertainments and activities and has had several trips out for lunch, which she really enjoys.

We have taken our sister to Watermoor House who really loves the home. The staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The old house and grounds are beautifully kept. If we take her out, they get her ready for us.

Thank you so much.

I have been here 3 weeks and have decided to stay. I have a lovely large room and am allowed to have some of my own furniture pictures etc.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There are things in the lounge like bingo, choir, crosswords, scrabble and many other things like outings to a cafe and a picnic on a barge on a canal and other outings. Good fresh food and a lift to the different floor levels.

My mother moved here initially for two weeks respite care but very quickly decided she wanted to stay. The staff are kind and caring but residents are encouraged to be as independent as they are able to be. There is an excellent range of activities and trips to choose from and she is able to have some of her own furniture items.

Thank you very much for your kind review. We take pride in our service and we are glad to hear this feedback.

I have found the overall quality and service to be very disappointing. The room was very basic, and the care basic.

Helen Wallace, Business & Marketing Manager at Watermoor House responded to this review on 27 Sep 2017:

We were surprised and disappointed to see this review, which does not reflect the high standard of care upon which we pride ourselves, at Watermoor House. We have investigated this review and spoken with the respite resident concerned. We have invited them to come in to talk through any concerns since no complaint was received during the stay at Watermoor House. The resident said that it was little things that could have been better and she didn’t need to discuss it further. We appreciate all opportunities to improve and have passed on the feedback from the resident to our team.

The home is very clean, comfortable and well decorated. The staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. I am very happy that my aunt is living here and know that she is well looked after.

Thank you very much for your review, your feedback will be passed on to the team.

I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful. They look after mother very well although she can be trying at times. The room is very good, with an outlook onto St. Michaels Field. The rooms are kept clean. The laundry service girls are very good. The entertainment lady is always doing things for and with the residents. Food is plentiful, if not always to her liking.

Thank you very much for your kind review, Mr S, the feedback will be passed on to the team.

My mother has spent the last four years at this care home and has loved it there. Staff and facilities are excellent. The care and attention she received was always top class and appreciated. She recently passed away and the care was brilliant. The night staff were extremely professional and supportive of both my wife and I at the time of her passing. The home manager and her staff could not do enough to help her and us.

I have lived in the house both the main house and the JM Wing for nine years. I now can't think of any other home i could bear to move to. It is now my family home. The care is the very best you could have, the carers are now my family and i love them dearly. There are up's and downs with likes and dislikes about the food and menus but i wouldn't leave unless they kick me out!! Thank you for caring.
