I recently visited Albion Lodge for the first time - I had not had the opportunity to see my Dad here as I live overseas. I had the most lovely visit meeting the owners Sarah and Andrew, i chatted to Lindsay the care manager and also one of the care workers Angela. It was heartwarming to hear how they
not only know all my Dad's characteristics and traits, but how they showed so much care and love for him.

Thank you Albion for creating this homely and warm environment for Dad - all his children live overseas and seeing what a beautiful home-from-home place he lives in, has been very good. We so appreciate all that you do for him.

As part of my job I visit many care homes and I can say wholeheartedly that the staff at Albion Lodge are the kindest and most professional in the business.
I have had many dealing with Lindsay and have experienced her go above and beyond for the residents; she has treated them as if they were part
of her family. Her sensitivity, dedication and commitment is a credit not only to the Home but to the care profession as a whole.

A cousin of mine has been a resident of Albion Lodge since May this year. His remaining family, including ourselves, live quite a considerable distance away from him, so most of my contact with him is by telephone.
We have made 2 visits to Albion Lodge, and have always received a warm welcome by
all members of the staff. My cousin has settled in, and all his needs are met by the caring staff. I believe there are lots of activities for all the residents. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. I can always have a chat to my cousin, and if there was a problem, I know that I would be contacted immediately. I am so relieved that he is a resident in this exceptional and lovely Home, especially being so far away from him. Full marks to all of the staff.

My mother has been in Albion Lodge for a year and could not be happier. Although it had been her own decision to make the move, she had been a little unsure about leaving her home and possessions. However, she was made to feel that she was welcome to make her room exactly as she wanted it, and we were
given help to move furniture and personal possessions around until she felt it was right for her.
During this year there have been virtually no changes of staff and this consistency helps residents to feel very settled. The staff are all as kind and caring as one would hope for.
My mother enjoys many of the activities that are on offer, and really appreciates the beautiful gardens and surroundings.

My very dear elderly friend moved to Albion Lodge in 2021 as she was unable to stay in her own home with out care, this was only meant to be a 2 week rest bite, from day 1 she was made to feel part of the Albion family and decided she wanted to move in permanently, all the staff are friendly and care
for the residents as if they are their own family, as a visitor I was welcomed with smile's and made very welcome, what ever time of day or night I visited.
Nothing is ever a problem, my friend enjoyed the entitlement, keep fit, games and trips out from the home, engaging in as much as she could. The staff provided the company and the care that she needed going the extra mile at all times.

My mum needed to move and decided that Albion Lodge would be ideal for her with the companionship she loves but still keeping her independence. She has now been at Albion Lodge for 5 years and finds the owners and the staff very friendly and supportive. She also enjoys the community spirit and many
of the activities that take place, which keep her very busy and stimulated.

My Dad has been a resident for 4 years and we find Albion lodge a very caring , friendly place to live.
The staff are exemplary ,they are so kind and care for my dad extremely well, he is very happy there.
Albion lodge offers many activities for the residents to enjoy on a regular basis.
The restaurant
is very good and my dad always enjoys the meals provided.
My dad was very unenthusiastic about moving into a care home however now he is always telling me how safe and well looked after he feels at Albion lodge.

Our 96 year old mother moved into Albion Lodge a year ago. She chose this home after several day visits and a week's respite. From the day she moved in she has felt confident that she made the right decision.
The staff are wonderful and make her feel as if she is part of a warm and caring family
there.
Her condition has deteriorated in recent weeks following a short hospital stay, and staff have adapted to her increasing needs and are keen to help her in whatever ways best suit her.
Mum enjoys the activities and classes on offer to residents which are varied and fun. She finds the food good and plentiful.

My mother has been living at Albion Lodge for 10 months, and received a very warm welcome immediately. The retirement home has a friendly, warm and inclusive atmosphere, and the care that my mother has received has been excellent.
There is a good range of activities throughout the week, catering for
all abilities and interests. As my mother nears her 100th year, I can't imagine anywhere nicer for her to live.

I moved into Albion Lodge on 4th Jan 2020 and have been here for 5 years.
Since then, I have enjoyed the atmosphere created by the carers, who often have to tolerate my strange sense of humour.

My father has been a resident for 6 months. The level of care provided is first class. The staff are professional, caring and provide all of the required assistance my father needs. The cleanliness and facilities are also first class. There is never an aroma that is sometimes evident at other homes
and the residents are all happy, clean, tidy and treated with respect. My father also thoroughly enjoys the food. Our family has been very pleased with all aspects of the home and I would not have any hesitation recommending it.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.736)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.736) out of 10 for Albion Lodge Retirement Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.936 for Albion Lodge Retirement Home is calculated as follows: ( (132 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.936
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albion Lodge Retirement Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, I’m Lindsay,
I’ve been passionate about providing care for over 20 years and have been part of the team at Albion Lodge Retirement Home since 2016.

I believe we should care for others as we would our own family. This aligns with the values of the Darwent family and is one reason I love working in a family-run home. Our supportive environment and long-standing staff create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble.

Albion Lodge offers comfort, care, and independence in a beautiful countryside setting. We have accessible gardens, a hair salon, treatment rooms, and an exercise room.

We offer a range of ensuite rooms across three lift-accessible floors, most with wet rooms and all with lovely views. Each floor also has an accessible bath for a safe and relaxing experience.

We warmly invite you to visit and see what makes Albion Lodge so special.
