Family-owned and managed.

Deansfield is a home for people living with dementia where life is celebrated. There is fun and activity alongside professional, kind, and compassionate care and support.

With 2.5 acres of garden, residents can wander at will, sit in the summerhouse, walk with the dogs, feed the ducks, chickens, goats, and alpacas, help in the organic vegetable garden and greenhouse or just sit on one of the seats and watch the amazing selection of wild birds.

Inside is just like home, with good fresh food, single rooms, and independent or fully assisted bathing facilities.

A newly built conservatory (May 2022) measuring an impressive 18 x 19 is the perfect location to take advantage of the beautiful views. People get up when they want and return to bed when they want. Individuality is encouraged and shared experiences are enriched by thoughtful activity.

Deansfield really is a home for life.

My husband has been a resident at Deansfield since August 2022. He had been attending day care there from March, but by August I had to make the difficult decision that I could no longer care for him at home. The one comfort for me was he knew his surroundings and his carers. He is now bedbound,
but so well cared for. The staff are fantastic , and he is kept clean and tidy , as is his room. The food is excellent, well cooked and presented.
I visit regularly and am always made welcome. We are still very much a couple after 64 years, and the staff are so kind to me and aware of the bond between us still.
I am so glad I found Deansfield. It has helped both of us in as much as my husband has the care he needs and I know he is comfortable, safe and well looked after. What more could I ask!
Reply from Harvi Singh, Managing Director at Deansfield

As a family, the decision to place mum into a care home was probably the most difficult decision we have ever had to make . Mum has been at Deansfield for a few months now and the decision has been vindicated. The staff are absolutely fantastic. I can not fault the standard of care mum is receiving
and it is great comfort to the family to know mum is in a safe environment where all her personal care needs are being met.

Without a doubt my mum was looked after very well. Her food was excellent and she was always clean and washed. Her room was kept clean and tidy and she was very happy. The staff were always friendly and helpful and always on hand to help with any questions regarding my mums health. They were always
happy to assist with anything. I cannot fault anything throughout her lengthy care at the home. It was always a welcoming atmosphere to visit.

The care home is looking after my uncle very well and all staff are very friendly and keep him safe from Covid and he seems very happy, he’s never negative about it in any way. He does enjoy his food and I always ask him if he’s being looked after and he says yes they’re very good.

My dad initially came to Deansfield in August 2023 for respite. Dad has now become a permanent resident due to his wife passing away in November 2023.
Dad has dementia so finding somewhere to suit his needs was imperative and I feel that Deansfield Care Home is just perfect for him.
Dad has his care
needs fully met and I am very happy with the care staff and management and feel it is run to a very high standard.
When I telephone or visit Dad I am always made to feel welcome and I know they take care of Dad in a lovely caring way. I like the communication I receive too and I'm always kept up to date with any changes and if Dad needs anything to be brought in.
I have always liked the fact that it's a small care home and the carers take the time to get to know all the residents on a personal basis.

My mother has been a resident at Deansfield for around 3 years. We chose it as it has a much more homely and personal atmosphere compared with other homes who often refer to having units rather than rooms. Staff are friendly, caring and patient and everyone from care, to the kitchen, housekeeping and
maintenance all work hard to make a home from home for the residents. We are reassured that my mother is safe and receiving good care.

I write this review to say how highly I think and feel of the warm homely atmosphere of Deansfield.
My Mum is being looked after with love and care and attention she needs with her dementia.
Pauline has been fantastic from day one she is so caring and professional.
Mum thinks world of one staff member
who is so helpful. The team there and the owner reflect a high standard of care as they really show they want Deansfield to be a home for residents at their special time in their lives.
I feel at ease knowing Mum is in a special place being taken care of properly and securely.

I visited Deansfield looking for a care home for my mum who is diagnosed with mixed dementia. I immediately loved the rural setting. I was welcomed warmly by the staff and it felt like home from home instantly. I observed how kind and gentle the staff were with the residents and noted the happy atmosphere,
with residents having a sing-song together in the lounge. I was impressed with the homely atmosphere and the staff's interaction with residents. They appeared to know the resident's individual needs and offered tea and mid-afternoon snacks. I was shown the bedrooms which were clean and well-furnished. No en suites but several toilets and bathrooms available.
I viewed many care homes in the Shropshire/Telford area and decided Deansfield was my first choice for my mum due to the smaller, more family feel that it offered and the opportunities for my mum to do gardening, and experience nature.

Dad spent the last eight months of his life at Deansfield, having lived with mixed dementia and gradually deteriorated over five years. He started by going twice per week for respite and then became a full-time resident. Throughout this, he was superbly cared for by the Deansfield team who were unfailingly
kind, efficient and loving. The family feeling and cheerful atmosphere suited him perfectly. As he came to the end of his life, he felt safe and secure. A wonderful place!

I found Deansfield when I was helping my Mother find a suitable care home for my father, who was needing full-time care for dementia. My father began going on a daycare basis and then moved to full-time residential care in 2020. Everyone there has been superb, from the manager/owner to the carers, to
the kitchen team. They take pride in looking after their residents, with real love and care. The home is as homely as it could be and everyone is treated with patience and dignity. A huge thank you Deansfield.

On entering Deansfield you get that homely welcoming feeling, greeted by very friendly staff who are about at all times, talking and caring for the residents. Their dedication to the residents is very touching. They are treated like a big happy family, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff.
Should you wish to discuss anything with them, management and staff are also available. A good place.

Every time I have been to visit my grandmother, I have found her clean, happy and very well cared for.
I find the staff extremely welcoming and attentive to both residents and family members. It never feels like a typical care home it is genuinely like home from home, never have I left with any worries
or concerns about my grandmother's safety and wellbeing.
I would definitely want to be in a care home such as this when my time comes 10/10.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.307)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.307) out of 10 for Deansfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.807 for Deansfield is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.807
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deansfield is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 16 registered maximum number of service users is 3.2, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
