Mum was in Sambrook for 4 years before she sadly died earlier this year. The care she received was exceptional particularly towards the end of her life when there was no question of her being moved to a nursing home despite her being bed bound and needing complete care. Many of the staff including the
excellent care manager have worked there for years and are so proud of the care they give. It is a real family with your relative the centre of all they do.The food is exceptional and all home cooked by 2 lovely chefs.Jan the activities coordinator comes in 3 or 4 times a week to play bingo, do quizzes , art, games and often cooking. Birthdays are celebrated with decorated cakes and parties are often arranged to celebrate special occasions with a Mothers Day tea, an Easter bonnet parade and there were even medals for each resident to commemorate VE Day and the Coronation. Mum was so happy there I could not recommend it any more highly

My mum was a resident in Sambrook House for 11 years. It became a real home from home for her.
The management and staff really took care of her and she was very happy there.
The food was excellent and we often joined her for lunch at Christmas and special occasions. We would have no hesitation in
recommending Sambrook House.

My Dad was a resident at Sambrook House for 2 1/2 years before his death. Cannot thank the staff enough for the care given and the support to us as a family in his last few days, was amazing. He would not have received better if he'd been in a private hospital.
Sambrook House might not be as big
or as modern as some care homes but it is more like a home and the resident is more like a member of an extended family. Would recommend in a heart beat.

Mom will have been in Sambrook Care Home two years in November. She is looked after royally and wants for nothing. The staff go over and above their call of duty to see she is comfortable. As her daughter I wholeheartedly recommend this care home. Meals are of hotel standard, the place is spotless,
the staff are all so friendly. What more can I say. It is a "home from home".

Our Dad moved into Sambrook House in January 25 for respite following a short illness. He chose to stay and now refers to Sambrook House as his home. He is very happy there.
His room is clean bright and very comfortable with lovely views. He really enjoys the company of the staff and other residents.
The staff are attentive without being overbearing and have always got time to talk.
Despite his grand age Dad is quite independent and active and he is encouraged to be so. He does his daily walks on the landing and takes the lift down to the conservatory calling into the staff office for a chat! The garden is lovely and easily accessible.
The food is excellent and Dad's eating has really improved. He is delighted with the regular drinks and cake!!
Regular activities are organised and Special occasions are always marked eg Easter Eggs, Birthday cake.
Great care and respect is shown to the residents and the owners are very hands on.
We cannot recommend highly enough.

Having placed my father in a home over ten years ago I was well accommodated with the number of poor homes there are. This home however was from the off looking very good in every possible way, and it proved to be every bit as good as it looked when I placed mum in there. She is now better looked after
than we could do at home in what is a very comfortable home as opposed to an institution.

Mom has been living in Sandbrook House for over three years. The care she receives is excellent. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. Mom looks forward to all the activities and entertainment. These include bingo, quizzes, crafts and armchair aerobics. The meals provided are delicious and nutritious.
Guests can join residents for lunch and all dietary needs can be catered for. Sambrook House has a lovely homely feel, and makes everyone welcome.

My aunt took up residence when she was quite unwell, after a period of struggling to live independently. Sambrook House staff have cared for her so well since then.


When I visited with my sister and son, we were all really impressed by the cosy feel of the place, and also by the professionalism

of all the carers & care arrangements. If I ever need a care home myself, I would want to live somewhere as lovely as Sambrook House.

Mum has been a resident at Sambrook for over 3 years. The care she receives is exemplary. All of the staff treat Mum and her visitors like family.
The food is second to none. Mum has thrived since being here. There are regular activities for the residents, and several special events throughout the
year including afternoon teas, Mother's Day lunch and and annual BBQ.
Mum could not receive any better care anywhere. I would not want her to be anywhere else. Having had some experience of other care homes, I believe Sambrook House cannot be beaten for exceptional care.

My mother has been a resident at Sambrook House since July 2021. The care received has always been and remains excellent. Staff will go over and above to assist, take time to chat and re-assure when needed. Activities, musical afternoons, keep fit and events throughout the year are always enjoyed by
the majority of residents. Hairdressing services are regular and the daily menu is of a high standard with plenty of variety. 10/10.

Our mom has been a resident at Sambrook since December 2021. We can honestly say we are extremely grateful that she was placed here. The emphasis is on "care". Forget all these newly built facades of anywhere else and choose here. All the staff are tremendous. Most have worked together for years and
are a team. Patient, kind and professional. The food is exceptional. Mom has put on 1 1/2 stone! There are activities 4/5 times a week and the owner organised family events. From the admin office to the cleaners- exceptional.

Mum has been at Sambrook for almost 2 years. Prior to moving in she had been relatively independent, but started to become uninterested in most things including eating. She had been an avid knitter and this didn't interest her anymore. Following a short stay in hospital, she was assessed by the local
authority and found to be in need of dedicated care. She was malnourished and quite depressed. Sambrook has proved to be a life saver, literally. I believe that if she had not gone to Sambrook she would no longer be with us. She now has a small group of friends in a very caring supportive environment. The owners, managers and staff are fantastic. Mum has gained nearly 2 stones in weight and regained her love of knitting. She looks forward to the regular entertainment sessions, particularly the bingo. Church Servies are another enjoyable thing for her.
We cannot speak highly enough of this fantastic home. Mum regularly says to us that she could not be anywhere better.

I am writing on behalf of my mother in law who is now 97 and has lived at Sambrook since February 2013. She chose the home due to its friendly atmosphere and quiet, rural location. Over the years her health has deteriorated but at no time did the home ask for her to be moved to a nursing home as she
has, for the past 4 years been totally dependent on their care and support. A wonderful set of dedicated and long service staff.

If I could just pick up on your rating for 'activities' as it may be something that you are not aware of, but our Activities Coordinator (who is in 3 days a week) always spends time with Mum-in-law, privately in her room, doing things like feeding her, reading poetry, talking about things like the news, old songs, people, and counting, spelling and singing together etc. Sadly the main group activities are beyond her now (as we all recognise) but that said, we are more than happy to talk about any other ideas you may have at maintaining her interest. Neil Robson

Job Title: Director/Owner Joined: 2005

My name is Neil Robson, and my wife (Sue) and I bought Sambrook House Residential Care Home on April 6th 2005.


I have an Engineering Degree from the University of Surrey and a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from Portsmouth University.’


I spent a little over 20 years working in industry, starting my career in design engineering and around 1990 moved into the emerging world of computing, firstly designing test rigs, then dealing with company statistics and marketing. My last position, based in Portsmouth, saw me responsible for the finance systems across the whole of Europe for a multinational company, which gave me valuable managerial and project management experience, delivering multi-million pound systems on time and to budget.
My 'hobbies' are many and varied, but have always included 'DIY'. Having 'rebuilt' and redecorated several houses, I see Sambrook House as my biggest 'project' yet.


I love being around people (particularly the older generation who have fascinating life stories to Other than First Aid and Defibrillator, I have no specific 'care' qualifications (I leave that to the Gill and her team of professionals), I am very 'caring' and derive great pleasure from seeing the joy and contentment on the faces of our residents.


Within the locality, I am also a local Parish Councillor and the Chair of the local Village Hall Committee within Sambrook.


I take great pride in what we have achieved and the amazing team that works herein Sambrook House, and enjoy the challenges it presents.

Sue is also Owner/Director of Sambrook House and brings a wealth of experience to the organisation.


For a period of 9 years, she held numerous Director-level posts in the NHS (mostly in Portsmouth), her last one being the Director of Commissioning for Telford and Wrekin PCT.


With her degree in Nursing from the University of Surrey, her role in the organisation is to provide direct support to Gill, our Care Manager, as well as Board-level guidance on care homes’ developments.


She, too (as well as Neil) has a postgraduate Diploma in Management from the University of Portsmouth.


Sue has many outside interests as well – she is on the Board of Partners in Care (PIC) as well as the (now) Vice Chairman of Age UK (Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin).
She is the Chair of Age UK Regional, and sits on the Age UK National Influencing Committee.
She is also a Trustee and Director of the Newport Cottage Care Center (for the elderly)

‘I joined Sambrook House Residential Care Home in April 2007, having held several senior posts mostly in the Domiciliary Care sector. This is my third post as the Registered Care Manager.’

Gill holds the ‘Registered Managers Award’ and graduated from Harper Adams University in 2015 with a ‘Certificate in Higher Education for Professional Development in Management’ and a ‘Level 5 Diploma in Business Management’.


In 2016, Gill won the prestigious ‘CARE MANAGER OF THE YEAR’ award for Shropshire (the award, along with others, is in the entrance hall). It was a fantastic achievement and testament to her expertise, leadership, standards, guidance and managerial skills.

‘I joined Sambrook House Residential Care Home in April 2019, taking over the helm from Carol, who retired having been the Company Administrator for some 11 years. I joined the Company with over 9 years of experience in a similar role locally. I will be your main port of call for anything financial, from fees to client pocket money. I have responsibility for the Company accounts, including the most important role of paying the staff wages!‘


She is a delight to work with, and using her experience and skills, she has transformed many of the systems she inherited.
