The home has been family run since 1985 and has never been sold or part of a chain. Residents are supported by the same familiar faces every day, with no agency staff. Fresh food is cooked daily, and life here is as full and active as residents want it to be, with regular activities, events and live entertainment throughout the year.
Standon House provides residential, dementia, respite and end of life care. Around half of residents live with dementia, and the home is calm and settled for everyone.

She enjoys the different activities particularly Bingo and this week a farm visited which delighted her as she stroked the range taken in. Whenever we visit the staff are welcoming, offering us drinks and biscuits. It's reassuring for us as a family to hear her talk so enthusiastically about her days and know there is always someone keeping an eye on her safety.

My mom has been at Standon House for 7 months and it has been the best decision I have ever made. She is so happy and settled. The staff and management are really helpful, nothing is too much trouble. When myself or other family members or friends visit they make us very welcome. There's always a cup of tea and biscuits waiting. Mom says the staff are all lovely and she feels very much part of the "family". Since Mom has been at Standon House I have felt reassured that she is being well cared for and looked after which is a great weight off my shoulders knowing she is safe and happy. Lots of different activities goes on daily for the residents. Dad's favourite is the singing / music. I love seeing the pics / videos of him enjoying this via the social media page :-)

The care and support that he is receiving is first class and as a result he has settled in easily and looks well and happy. Nothing is too much trouble and you are always greeted with a friendly smile when you arrive and given regular feedback on how he is doing. A big thank you to the staff and managers at Standon House particularly for the afternoon tea that they arranged for Mum and the majority of her immediate family (18 in total). It was a real treat for Mum who really enjoyed the attention being lavished upon her and seeing her family together. A wonderful supply of snacks and cakes along with prosecco, tea and coffee all supplied at Standon House expense. A special thanks to the lady for arranging it all and not forgetting the other lady who came in on her day off to help and the other staff members on duty during this time. Mum has now been resident in Standon for over twelve months and has received outstanding care during this period. All staff are very professional and are fully aware of Mum's needs (eyesight and hearing as well as mobility) and make sure that she is involved in all the entertainment provided.

I do think there should be more music quizzes! I enjoy them myself! Mom is a very fussy eater and again the staff try to accommodate this.

There are always activities offered and gentle encouragement to join in. It has a comfortable and homely, familial atmosphere. Lots of pictures and residents' own crafts are displayed. Quiet rooms as well as activity.

My wife spent 12 months in Standon House. The attention she received was first class throughout. The final 10 days were very demanding on the staff. During this period she was receiving end of life care, the staff and the community nurses were faultless as was the visiting theologian.
