My mother has spent six years at Holly Tree Lodge, due to her advanced Alzheimer's. During her stay she received excellent and the home also took good care of my father when he visited. They communicated well with us and ensured Mum was always comfortable and clean. They cared for my mother up to her
peaceful death, ensuring my brother and father were present as she passed. I would recommend this home for anyone suffering with dementia.

Although my dad has only been there a very short time (up to now) we think he's landed on his feet, so to speak. The staff have been polite, patient, nothing is too much trouble. Completely understanding and always willing to listen. Long may it last, we are all breathing a big sigh of relief. They
are doing an amazing job with (challenging) residents in these unprecedented times. Many, many thanks from our family to them all.

When my mother’s dementia became so severe that she needed to go into a home, my sisters and I investigated many care homes in Derby. Our choice was unanimous and we opted for Holly Tree. When we visited the home we were even more convinced of our choice and have been really pleased ever since. Our
mother resided at Holly Tree for 3 years before she sadly died there. Staff seemed genuinely fond of the residents and were always kind and caring. They kept in close communication with us and when my mum finally required end of life care they couldn’t have been better. Unfortunately, she died during COVID, which could have made visiting her at the end very difficult but the staff were brilliant! Mum was moved to a special room that we could enter directly from outside and staff ensured that her needs were met immediately. They were unobtrusive when we were there, yet kind and caring and sat with her at night so Mum was not alone. I couldn’t recommend the home and staff highly enough.

My mother went into Holly Tree in May 2018 due to having a stroke and dementia which was hard for us as a family to do. But I cannot fault the care that was given to my Mother. All the staff in the home were just great, couldn’t do enough for my mother and when I visited, I could see that she was being
looked after so well. My mother took seriously ill in November 2019 and she was put onto End of Life Care and looked after in her room. The staff were amazing during her final days, they were there for my mother and her family, popping in all day long to say Hello and check on my mum, getting the District Nurses in when she needed them. When my mum passed, the home was amazing. All of the staff in Holly Tree deserve a medal. The care they gave and are still giving is just fantastic. Again, my family and I cannot thank you all enough, you helped so much in my Mum’s final months of life and she had a giggle with you all, so carry on the good work.

There is a lovely atmosphere at the home, very warm and welcoming. Staff treat the residents (and even visitors) very well, with lots of care and attention. I really cannot speak highly enough of the staff and manager.
My Auntie is always clean and tidy, always well cared for, even though she is very
challenging at times.
Would recommend this home to everybody with no hesitation at all.

The home itself is light and bright. My mums room is very nice and spotlessly clean. Her clothes are always clean and ironed well. The meals seem nice and my mum has put weight back on. All of the staff seem genuinely fond of residents and very patient. My only criticism would be that there are not
enough activities to keep residents engaged and occupied although this may be due to lack of resources.

My father spent 3 years at Holly Tree Lodge with Dementia, and sadly now also my Auntie has the same condition.
I had no hesitation in placing my Auntie at Holly Tree Lodge due to the loving care and attention given to my father by all of the staff during his life there.
My Auntie is very happy and
is very well looked after again by all of the staff which is evident when I visit her most weekends.
Holly Tree Lodge is only as good as the staff that are employed, and with the staff that the owners employ you can not wish or ask for any better care, time and consideration which is shown to all residents.

My mum has been in Holly Tree Lodge for over 2 years now. Throughout this time I have been pleased with the care my mum receives. All the staff I have encountered over this time have always been kind and considerate to both my mum and other residents. Recently I have noticed a few new members of staff
and hopefully they will be just as professional as the previous members. The home is always clean and my mum's bedroom is always clean and fresh bedding is supplied daily.

When my dad was diagnosed with dementia and unable to care for himself it was a massive challenge to find suitable care - Holly Tree Lodge was the place that accepted dad for who he was and not just the difficulties he had and faced in the future. As his daughter living abroad the staff at Holly Tree
Lodge are wonderful. I ring a couple of times a week and they always answer any questions and freely give accounts of what has been happening. I have trust in everything they do for dad and other people in their care. Would 100+10% recommend them.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
