My mother was in this care home for a number of years self funded and saw it as her home. She's now 95.
Most of the staff were helpful and she enjoyed being there. We were pleased with her care.
However, this is not a home to choose if you don't want to top up your family member when they run out of funds. Regrettably when it becomes Council funded and you don't top up, senior management kick them out.

Sad for a 95 year old to be moved. Ask questions before making your decisions.

My mother has been at the crescent for 8 months now. It was a massive upheaval for her to go into a residential home but with the help of staff and management she has settled in rather easily. Couldn't of wished for a better transition. My mother is not the easiest to please and even she's happy now.

This review is not a reflection on the caring and supportive staff at Crescent House. They were kind, compassionate and my mum felt valued.

My 95-year-old mum was very happy here, was settled and called it her home. Sadly, when her personal funding changed, we were informed she would need to move. We had no contract explaining what would happen when funding reduced and were unaware of the financial implications, including different room costs or possible top-up fees. We were informed by a brief phone call that she would be moving rooms, without a full explanation. This was extremely distressing. Our family attended all meetings requested and have records/minutes of all discussions. Concerns regarding lack of communication, funding information and the timing of decisions were recorded in mtgs with the local council. Another care home manager was able to assess my mum, in-person, without challenge as to whom she was. This point has been discussed and recorded through correspondence with the council.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to hear that you were happy with the care, support, and value your mother received while living with us.

We are, however, disappointed to read some of the concerns raised, as they do not reflect the facts as we understand them....

I am very pleased with the care given so willingly to my husband. Always with a smile, wtih a nice feeling of calm. In this short time he has improved my expectations, both mentally & physically. What ever the plan it's working. I pop in when ever I can and even get a smile. He is eating your meals with pleasure and looks forward to meal time. To see his more relaxed self is for me wonderful. Thank you.

Crescent House is an extremely charming, friendly care home. I was here for six weeks, and I found the carers cheerful and helpful as I took up more of their time than many of the residents.

It has been a great help having a laundry at the home as I didn't have back up at home. The office staff helped me with any problems that arose. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well equipped.

It was an absolute pleasure to look after you for the six weeks and help you back up onto your feet. I will pass on your gratitude to the staff who work very hard to help. We wish you all the luck in the world at home - Beckie

Mum has been at Cresent House for 18 months, she is very happy and loves her room. The staff at the home always go above and beyond to help, looking after Mum really well. The communication from the staff is excellent, always informing me with updates.

It is so reassuring to know that Mum is safe and well cared for at Cresent House.

My Mother has been here for a number of weeks now and I call it the Buckingham Palace of care homes. I hope mum can stay here for the rest of her days. There have been a couple of times when I've been disappointed by a couple of the staff but overall the staff are enthusiastic and professional.

I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of service and care received by my parents over the past three years at Crescent House Care Home. As an only child living abroad, I have to rely on the staff and management to look after Mum and Dad and I have total trust that they have been very well treated. Sadly, we lost Mum last July and everyone was magnificent in helping Dad and me through a very traumatic experience, especially as I wasn't able to get home to attend the funeral due to Covid. The love and care all staff show for Dad has made his loss bearable and I really do believe he is treated like one of the family. My wife and I often say how lucky we are to have found this home from home and I strongly recommend anyone looking for a care home to visit Crescent House to see for themselves what a lovely, caring place it is.

My mother could not be in a better care home. The staff are fun, caring, conscientious and professional people who look after her extremely well, they are always very quick to respond to the changes in her condition. The home is always very clean and the gardens are kept neat and tidy. More able residents seem to have lots of activities and the residents' garden is fantastic with miniature ponies who are very friendly.

My father has always been happy at Crescent House Care Home. The staff are very kind, approachable and helpful, and over the last two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, they have really been excellent. A major contact for me during this time was the activities coordinator who oversaw relatives’ visits to the home. I would like to thank her so much for what she contributes to my dad’s wellbeing.
There is always a lovely atmosphere when I visit and the facilities of the home are both enabling and engaging to residents.

I am glad I chose Crescent House for my parents and would recommend it to others.

I have been so delighted with the appointment of an activities supervisor. She has a very engaging personality and has very quickly established herself at the home, learning the residents’ names and understanding their individual personalities and needs.
She has organised a varied programme of entertainment which was especially good at Christmas and has devised hands-on activities for the more able residents, for example, card making, flower arranging, making bird feeders. She has made a big positive change.

As a result of her efforts, I have noticed that my Mother is lately much more engaged and chatty. I would like to thank her.
