Glenkindie Lodge

Could the phone system please be fixed with a system that allows people to connect with their loved ones. There I'd nothing more frustrating than trying to speak to someone when the line is so full of crackling that you are unable to have a decent conversation other than saying to them you are breaking up and I don't understand what you have just said. I have made a complaint previously but it is still abysmal and extremely frustrating.

My Mum has been a resident for 4 years now. It has been an up and down experience unfortunately. My Mum has Dementia and Diabetes. Dementia residents do not get treated any different to other residents. There is no diabetic menu. So maintaining sugar levels can be a challenge. The decor is outdated. The bathrooms have been updated to a good level. Some decorating had been done but has since stopped. The bedroom shown is a new room, its one room that looks like this. All the rest are outdated and very old furniture. The furniture in the lounges are all old, well worn and different colours. It is a nice small care home which suits residents who cannot cope with a lot of people. Some staff are very friendly and often seems shortstaffed. It could be a brilliant care home if everbody worked together. A new CQC report is out which states. Requires improvement and just now there is no manager. This is a fair and honest review by a family member who visits 3/5 times a week for the past 4yrs.

A very welcoming environment. The staff were friendly, helpful and understanding. My father was looked after very well. We were able to take him out without issue and visit whenever we wished. This is a residential home that I would recommend.

My father stayed at Glenkindie as a discharge to assess resident from hospital for about 3 months. My father in his 90s had sensory issues (partial sight & hearing) and was very reluctant to consider a care home. I was incredibly impressed with the staff, they were very welcoming and friendly, every time I visited all residents always had drinks, often a hot cuppa and water or juice, they were excellent at trying to keep residents hydrated. The staff are friendly and helpful (a credit to the home) both to residents and family, my father was always clean, well fed, hydrated and I was overall very impressed. This is what a care home should be, thankyou to all at Glenkindie for your kindness and care.

My husband David was in Glenkindie Lodge for 4 years. He died in October. He was wonderfully looked after. His dementia made him difficult but he always looked happy. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we were always made welcome by the staff. I wholeheartedly recommend Glenkindie Lodge.

Dad arrived at Glenkindie some 4 years ago in the early days of the pandemic. Despite the challenge the care home faced, Dad's admission and care that was provided throughout his time with them was marvellous. Communication was excellent right up until his unfortunate passing. We witnessed the home improvements; visiting rooms were made more homely, bedrooms upgraded, a variety of activities were offered and you could see that staff were really happy in their work and cared for all the residents. They were also very good at looking after me as I would often become really emotional when seeing Dad's deterioration on my visits. Dad was very a challenging resident when he first arrived and yet the staff took all of his behaviours in their stride and quickly developed a very holistic approach towards managing him. The family are ever grateful for the care Dad received over the years and wants to thank the entire team for his last few years which allowed him to be safe and very happy.

Whilst one could say the care home is not all singing and dancing brand new with ultra-modern facilities, my mother felt utterly at home and the care and love she received from the staff during her stay was without doubt fantastic. I think the clue is in the title 'care home' and she was certainly cared for. I would have no problem in recommending this establishment to anyone who wishes their elderly relatives to be looked after in their twilight years.

The manager runs and organises her staff team fantastically and all are extremely professional.
