My mum came to Grange Lea in January after seven weeks in the hospital. From day one, she was made to feel at home and nothing is too much for the manager and staff. After losing a lot of weight in the hospital, she regained it all at Grange Lea with good food and help to eat when needed. Mum is always
kept clean, well dressed and I have been taking mum out on a weekly basis due to the increase in her mobility. I can never thank the home enough for all the genuine love and care given to my mum.
Thank you to each and every one of the day and night staff.

Everyone always says they will never put a relative into care but sometimes that is not left down to choice. Since relocating my nan to Grange Lea, the level of care has blown us away. Every member of the care team treats my nan as she was their own. She is sung too, cuddled and made to feel like one
of the family every day. She is always clean and well presented, regularly gets her hair done and make-up put on (nan would never want to leave the house without it). Nan was always encouraged to take part in activities and was always helped with eating if she was unable. I can't speak highly enough of the team of wonderful staff here and the cleanliness of the home.

On coming to Grange Lea, your nan settled in so well. She loved the activities in the home, especially the singing and dancing. It's a pleasure to care for her, she is a lady that loves to wear her jewellery and she is a big part of our family.

Mum was a resident for a short time but whilst there, she was taken out by staff twice, encouraged to take part in group activities and to eat solid food, something we had failed to do. Whilst I was visiting, I observed staff constantly checking all residents and ensuring they were happy and comfortable
and chatting and reassuring where needed. It was spotless, the cleaners are continually cleaning and tidying. Everyone of the staff was courteous and helpful, always making visitors welcome, they obviously enjoy their jobs and this was reflected in the happy atmosphere.

I cannot praise Grange Lea Care Home highly enough. The manager and staff were exceptional throughout Dad's stay, making it a very pleasant experience for him whilst reassuring Mum and all the family that he was in very capable hands. Whenever anyone visited Dad the manager and staff were very welcoming,
pleasant, helpful and courteous. I can honestly say that our dad enjoyed his stay and we would not hesitate to have him stay there again in the future.

I found Grange Lea to be a pleasure to spend time with my mother-in-law in. Lots of interaction with residents and a very caring and comfortable place to be. The staff are especially helpful and do their utmost best to put residents at ease. I would highly recommend Grange Lea to anyone needing a care
home for their loved ones.

My mother had resided at Grange Lea from October 2013 until her death on 24th of March 2018.
During her stay, she was cared for by all the staff at Grange Lea with the utmost care and respect, I cannot emphasise this enough.
Mum loved the food and she always slept well in her comfortable room.
When
we visited her we were always made to feel comfortable and mum was always clean and tidy, (and was always offered a "Brew")
I will miss the chats I had on the phone with the staff, especially with two particular members of staff.
Thank you.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the care our father received over four and a half years of residency. He had multiple physical problems, plus dementia, but he was always treated with dignity and kindness by the staff. They are an exceptional group of Carers, who work under great pressure and
often difficult circumstances, but always find time for a kind word and a smile for the residents, even when they are exhausted after working a long shift. The Home itself is adequate in terms of furnishings and comfort but it, and the residents are kept clean and tidy despite time pressures. My dad loved his food until the last few weeks and was extremely well-fed with appetising, homemade fare at every meal. I am especially grateful for the consideration I received over the last fortnight of Dad's life and for the compassion with which he was treated, right to the end. My brother and I are so glad he was able to pass away in his own bed, tended by people who really cared. Many thanks.

Grange Lea has a friendly, family atmosphere. The staff are kind and caring, treating service users with dignity and respect while providing support and encouragement. The manager and staff are quick to respond to any issues and keep the family fully informed of any concerns. Family members not only
receive a warm welcome but also the emotional and moral support needed during what can be a very difficult time. The best tribute I can pay to Grange Lea is that I do not worry about mums care and wellbeing when I am not with her- I know that she is in good hands!

My mother-in-law has been in this care home for six years and I have recently had to find residential care for my aunt who is 98 years old. The carers have been lovely with her. She is very happy, her room is very nice and she says the food is very good. The staff have been very helpful to me during
this stressful time.

Mum has been a resident for four years. On admission, the management and staff took on board mum's preferences. Grange Lea is a small care home where residents are treated with dignity and respect. Staff interact with residents really well and provide regular activities such as singing, quizzes etc.
Management also take on board if families have any concerns and act accordingly to resolve any issues. I feel my mum receives excellent care at Grange Lea and I would recommend to others. The communal facilities have also been upgraded recently and is very homely but serviceable as well. This care home is managed to a high standard with hard working can committed staff.

My mum has currently been in Grange Lea for 7 months (since end April 2015) and has been very well looked after. Her personal preferences are taken into account at all times and her health has come on in leaps and bounds during this time she has been in GL, as she was struggling with daily living whilst
at home.
The staff are always cheerful and helpful whenever I see them. On meeting the manager for the first time when I went to look around, I got a very good "gut feeling" about her - and I am so pleased that I trusted that feeling and that a space became available for my mum.
The home is purpose built, there are no steps or ramps between levels which suits my mum as she walks with a zimmer frame and is quite unstable on her feet. I consider the place is well run, kept clean and tidy, the lounge is nice and big and it's always warm.
My mum has full capacity and would soon tell us if there were problems in the home regarding treatment of herself or other residents, she has never mentioned a thing; the only thing she reports is that she sometimes doesn't like the food but I guess you can't please all the people all the time when it comes to food.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone who would ask.

My dad has been a resident at Grange Lea for the past 12 months he has enjoys his time there.

All the staff and management are lovely friendly people whom care for him extremely well.

They have various activities throughout the days and try to include all the residents if they wish to join in,

as well as going on regular trips out to Blackpool and local venues which are enjoyed by all.

There is nothing too much trouble to accommodate the needs of the residents.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Grange Lea Residential Home Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.892 for Grange Lea Residential Home Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.892
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grange Lea Residential Home Ltd is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
