Davenport Manor Residential Home

I would like to thank all the staff at Davenport Manor Residential Home for providing my father with a 2 weeks respite stay. The care he has received has been excellent and the staff have been so kind and supportive. The food has been delicious and nutritious and rooms clean and comfortable.

This is a follow up from a previous review by myself on 13/09/24

My mother suffered a severe stroke in March 2026. She was taken straight to hospital and we were promptly informed.

Unfortunately my mother would not recover from the stroke and was transferred to a ward for end of life treatment.

On hearing this Collette the care home manger asked us if my mother Beryl could be transferred back to Davenport Manor to spend her last days in her room in familiar surroundings.

Mum was then transferred back to her room and both care home and NHS end of life staff were able to treat and care for her.

This was of great comfort to myself and my sister. We were able to spend Mum's last days at her bedside with privacy and dignity, Beryl passed away peacefully.

This was a wonderful gesture from Collette and all the staff.

We will always be grateful to such fabulous professional and caring people

From the moment you walk in the front door, you are made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed. It is like a family home. Nothing is too much trouble. My mum is very happy, content and relaxed there. She is clean and her dignity restored. She has her hair done weekly. The staff are lovely and quick to react to changes in conditions. A doctor visits weekly. Staff are kind and patient. We don't have to worry about how safe Mum is. The home offers a range of activities for residents to participate in if they want. Excellent home that is well-led, clean and comfortable.

The staff at Davenport Manor are absolutely amazing, patient and understanding. Straight away they mum and her family feel very welcome. It is such a relief to know that mum is being so well cared for. Mum looks 10 years younger and can't speak highly enough about the staff at Davenport Manor. Everything is spotlessly clean with lovely individual rooms. All the residents that I have spoken to are really happy at Davenport Manor.

The care my uncle received while he was a resident in here was 100% he couldn't have been treated any better. The staff were amazing with him right up until the end of life, even down to putting moisturiser on his legs because they were dry, he wouldn't have had this level of care and dignity any where else and i will be forever grateful.

I can't praise them enough for their kindness and consideration.

I cant say enough positive comments regarding the care my mum has received since moving to Davenport Manor in February, the management and staff are fantastic and caring. The difference in my mum's appearance alone is phenomenal. Mum has also parcitipated in activities that she's always fought against in the past! I am so pleased we selected this care home for my mum. and would like to say a Huge THANK YOU to all the team.

My stepfather is a resident of Davenport Manor. I have experience of other care homes, the one he was in before and 2 care homes my Mum was in before she passed.

Davenport Manor is truly the best care home I have come across. The management and staff are kind, caring and helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Over time I have come to know the staff well and find them genuinely good people.

My stepfather doesn't have much an appetite sometimes and the catering staff there, go out of their way to prepare dishes which they know he likes and is likely to eat.

There are also events held at the home which I have attended and are great opportunities to chat to people and it's lovely to see the residents enjoying the events.

I would highly recommend Davenport Manor.

My visit from NZ was a difficult one, as knew Nanna was deteriorating. From walking into Davenport Manor, I felt a sense of family and warmth. What was very apparent for the residents and what differentiates Davenport to other homes, is this is 'their home' not just somewhere they live - a very big difference. Residents are treated with respect and care by all staff, and staff go out of their way to make it a comfortable, happy and positive environment for everyone. From a personal level, staff were very welcoming from the start. I had come a long way to be with Nanna and when it came to the point when I didn't want to leave her alone, management made it possible for me to stay. Nothing was too much trouble and although Nanna's care was top priority, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort too and made a very sad situation so much easier to cope with. Nanna was treated with love, respect and dignity and I give heartfelt gratitude to every single member of staff, thank you.

All the staff I met were cheerful, kind and caring. I would be very happy for him to spend more time here in the future.

My mum came to Davenport Manor, she was very apprehensive because she did not know anyone. 5 months down the line she has settled in and speaks highly of the staff. They are friendly helpful and always polite. She has made friends with the other residents. She does like her bed and she does sleep in most mornings. She even enjoys a little tipple of Baileys. When asked about Davenport Manor the only thing she complains about is she didn't move in early in 2023.

He feels great there now. So settled and relaxed it’s exactly like visiting him at his own flat. He is happy, he is calm and it’s the manager and all the staff I have to thank. Every person there, the carers, team leaders, kitchen, housekeeping, handyman and activity organiser are all lovely, responsive and kind. They make Dad feel special, he especially loves to get his hair and his nails done having always kept himself so neat. His clothes always look smart and cared for too. To know that he is respected and looked after so well puts my mind at ease.

Staff are so friendly and helpful, they go above and beyond, they can't do enough for the residents. They make my grandad feel safe and always have time for him. There are all sorts of activities going on which my grandad can join in with if he wishes to. A lovely garden to sit in when the weather permits. He enjoys the meals and he can always ask for a cup of tea. Couldn't wish for a better place for my grandad and it also puts my mind a rest. My grandad is really looked after.

My lovely mum was moved into Davenport Manor in January 2022 and has since been lovingly cared for by highly experienced and qualified staff. As my mum tells me often, nothing is too much trouble for the amazing staff, and I feel fortunate to have my mum at this wonderful care home. I am happy knowing that my mum is happy and is being well looked after and treated with respect and dignity. The decision to move a loving parent into residential care is a difficult and upsetting one but I made the right decision when I chose Davenport Manor. I can highly recommend placing a loved one in Davenport Manor as they will receive the best care possible. I would also like to mention that the manager is always on hand if any issues arise and the activity coordinator has been a godsend. Thank you to everyone at Davenport Manor.

I am very happy with this care home in relation to the care they provide for my father-in-law. The staff are extremely friendly and they keep us updated regularly. My father-in-law is happy in the home and I am comfortable with how he is being looked after. They really care about the residents and it shows.

This is a wonderful care home, the staff are truly amazing and nothing is too much trouble for them. They offer unbelievable care and the management is always there to help with any problem. The food is absolutely delicious. Thank you for the wonderful care you gave my mother-in-law, she was only with you for 11 days but they were a wonderful last 11 days. Thank you so much.
