Clarkson House is currently being renovated.

The home came under new management in October 2022 & sadly was aesthetically run down. But with lots of ideas and love to bring this home back to life, the management team are now slowly transforming Clarkson House into a light and airy place, where the residents will have that home from home feeling.

Clarkson House care home offers residential care in Ashton-under-Lyne to older people as well as people with dementia, mental health issues, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. The care is excellent.

Staff are highly trained and offer compassionate care that is tailored to the individual.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own furniture by prior arrangement as well as bring their own pets to live with them if pre-agreed with the home.

Residents are offered nutritious food in the dining area where they can socialise with fellow residents.

Excellent care provided for mum, she was a bit unsettled when she first went to live here but that's understandable. Mums made friends with the other residents, the staff a fabulous, provide excellent, friendly care and are very patient and understand, taking time to respond to each residents needs.
They provide fresh, high quality home cooked food daily. Our family were concerned about mum going to live in a care home after dad's sudden passing but she's in really good hands and due to her having Alzheimer's dementia she needs 24/7 care. Were very happy mum was placed here as it's wonderful

My mum is settled at Clarkson House and is well looked after. She feels safe and secure, the staff are all caring and she feels part of a community. The majority of the staff are proactive and have made real friendships with Mum. The carers all treat Mum with respect, consulting her and always doing
what they can to make her feel useful - taking the time to chat and get to know her as an individual. The home has made lots of improvement since she moved in in Oct 2023 and the decor is lovely and modern.
One thing we struggled with before Mum moved into Clarkson House was her appetite - she absolutely loves the home-cooked food she has here and always enjoys every meal.

Thank you so much for the message - we are currently refurbishing and we appreciate you like the changes. We are training and developing staff all the time and we will continue to do so. The kitchen staff will be so pleased to get the 5* for the food. Thanks again.

My grandmother has been a resident of Clarkson House for almost a year now. I visit most weeks with my children and am always warmly greeted by all staff and residents. I am always pleased to see familiar staff members treating my grandma and other residents with respect, care and kindness. I regularly
turn up in the middle of various sessions being put on for the residents, dance, aerobics and games. All residents seem happy and well looked after. I cannot fault the place.

The staff at Clarkson House are fabulous. They provide quality care. They are professional whilst adopting a caring manner. At times the staff are extremely busy dealing with a variety of care/medical needs but they always make time to listen to a relative's query/concern. The quality of the meals and
menu choices available are excellent. I cannot thank them enough for the care they provide to my relative.

My mother-in-law moved into Clarkson House a couple of months ago. I could not be happier with the care she receives. She appears really happy and will say when I visit that the staff can't do enough for you.
It's lovely to see her smiling and knowing she is safe and well looked after, puts my mind
at rest.
All I can say I appreciate all that you do at Clarkson House and thank you for being there for my mother-in-law.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.300)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.300) out of 10 for Clarkson House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.700 for Clarkson House is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.7
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clarkson House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
