Dad had been in Laurel Bank for a few years now and we can't thank them enough for how well they've looked after him, we're always greeted with a smile and they really seem to care for the residents and there families. Communication is good and they are always welcoming. Any problems are dealt with
quickly and efficiently and we're forever grateful for there support

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband was taken into Laurel Bank when we could not fulfil his needs any longer at home.
Our apprehensions were soon dismissed after meeting the manager and team
My husband was transferred to the home by ambulance and settled into his room. Do not be fooled by the initial impression you get when
you walk in. The building is full of character and history with well proportioned en-suite rooms across a number of floors. There are numerous day rooms and a good sized dining area for those that can feed themselves.
The staff are a credit to the manager and owners, nothing is too much trouble no matter what time of day.
We spent a considerable amount of time visiting each day during the time my husband was there, we saw nothing but loving care for every individual just as though they were their own family.
When we were stuck in traffic trying to get to be with my husband at the end the wonderful staff sat with him until we arrived.
Overwhelming gratitude to all the staff
THANK YOU xxx

Laurel Bank Care Home may not be the most aesthetically appealing home but I can assure you the care is second to none. The staff from the manager right the way down through the team leaders, carers, kitchen staff, domestic staff and all the night staff (and any others I've missed) have been exceptional;
more than exceptional. Our experience of their care has been humbling. The respect they all showed to my dad before he passed away was astounding at all times; to my mum, me, my sisters and all the family too.

I genuinely cannot rate the staff at Laurel Bank highly enough. It's shameful that they like all in the care sector are so undervalued and underpaid.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.234)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.234) out of 10 for Laurel Bank is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.913 for Laurel Bank is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.913
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.321 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Laurel Bank is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.196
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
