My mum has called Polebank her home since April 2025. The care staff are an authentically kind and caring team and look after my mum with a warm approach, patience and understanding. The team are also excellent at communicating with me to keep me informed about mum's care and treatment, and to update me about any changes in between my visits. I know my mum is as happy and contented as she can be and for that I am very grateful to the care staff and leadership team.

I am writing this review on behalf of myself, my brothers and the wider family. Mum has been a resident of Pole Bank since March 2020 and if I'm honest, the only reason she has reached 90 is due to the diligent care of the staff. They very approachable and welcoming to all visitors, even to the point of letting the family take over the dining room on her 90th birthday last July. My father, although missing her greatly, was always content that she was in a safe place and he used to say that he enjoyed being a husband again instead of having the pressures of being a carer. Since his death, the family has been kept totally in the picture on everything that is happening with mum and the home keeps detailed information on how mum is or what she needs. Days at Pole Bank are filled with activities and during holidays the environment is enhanced with decorations. It's a home from home.

I am so grateful for the staff at Polebank. Every one is caring and patient, and however demanding the resident, they treat everyone with dignity and respect. They cope with complex needs as well as personal care, and liaise well with next of kin etc. More subtly, they are aware of changes in behaviour, and spot when someone is "not their usual self" or when medications may be having side-effects. This combination of professionalism with personal attention is hugely reassuring. My friend is always complimentary about the food, too - even when he can't remember what he's had!

The team at Pole Bank have cared for our Mum for over 3yrs, they have always shown the utmost dignity and respect for her, understanding her needs and adapting her care as necessary. It is difficult when a family member is in care but I am reassured with Pole Bank that whenever they have any concerns or issues the staff contact me to discuss. Despite the pressures that understandably arise when working in care the staff are always welcoming, cheerful and respectful when I visit and are willing to answer any questions I might have. Mum has always enjoyed having a laugh and it's a pleasure to see her interactions with the staff who clearly know her well.

The Management and staff work hard to create a 'Home from Home' environment at Pole Bank. I am reassured that Mum's needs are clearly understood and she is cared for with incredible kindness. I would recommend this care home to anyone considering care for their loved ones.

My dad went into Pole Bank last year which was obviously a stressful and uncertain time for the family. The staff have been amazing, helping him settle, reassuring him when he has a confused moment and just generally being there night and day. Me and my sister (his only family) couldn't be more grateful or praise them highly enough

Carers are lovely with residents, always treated with love and respect.
Home is always immaculately clean.

On rare occasions my mum has been in dirty clothes but that is rare and soon remedied when mentioned.

The staff are well trained and meet the needs of every patient with care and attention to detail that I've not seen in other homes, the staff are welcoming and can't do enough for you or the patients in their care, The manager has been there many years and has a fantastic team around her, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone who is looking for care for their loved one.

Both my parents were residents in Pole Bank Hall and while my father was alive they were placed in a room together. This request was accommodated swiftly, and compassionately. The care staff, kitchen staff, domestic assistants and laundry staff are incredible. From asking my dad if he needed a hand with a shave in the morning and popping on his aftershave to supporting his love of ice cream and music. They provided the care we sadly couldn't do any longer due to keeping them safe as their dementia advanced quickly. Mum is still in the home and we know she is loved, cared for with such compassion, dignity and respect. It warms your heart when you're told that a member of the team knows what is best to get mum to respond &the fact they have taken time to work that out like we would, is priceless.

No one wants to see this awful disease affect any loved one but be reassured if you chose this home.... love will be given in abundance. Love all of them at Pole Bank Hall

My mum has been a resident at Pole Bank for around 4 1/2 years and has been looked after very well. The home is kept clean and tidy. Mum is well into her 90's and the staff are very good with her. She is warm, comfortable and cared for. The home is secure but access is readily available for visits.

My mum has been living at Polebank for 2 years. The staff are friendly and very welcoming they know my mum's needs and look after her with dignity and so much care. The manager is very approachable and nothing is too much trouble and will go above and beyond to make sure her needs are met as will the staff. The food is excellent all homemade with plenty of choices, dietary needs are also met. They have daily activities and trips out which I know my mum enjoys as do the other residents. I would not hesitate to recommend Polebank for your loved one where they are safe and very well cared for.

I can't thank the manager and the staff more for how they have treated my nan. They can't do enough for her and nothing is too much. She's healthier now than when she first moved in and is so much happier as she has all of her social needs met now. The staff make sure to always keep us updated with everything.

They have activities to keep the residents active, parties, garden parties and make the residents families included in all of this. It really feels like a home away from home.

My Mum has been a full-time resident at Polebank for over 2 years, before this attended daycare from 2018 to 2020. The care they provide is outstanding, every member of staff is kind, respectful and gentle when managing Mum’s needs. I have total confidence in their ability, and I would completely recommend their services to any persons considering an excellent care home facility for their loved ones. I take comfort in knowing my Mum is receiving the best possible care she could ever have, and she is being well looked after and loved. The care home manager has been super supportive regarding Mum’s palliative care, the emotional support provided has been exceptional. Throughout all my years dealing with care providers (which can be stressful) I have never met anyone like Polebank who do care for the resident’s wellbeing like their own, making sure their journey is as comfortable and enjoyable as much as possible. They are an excellent home and I am so very grateful and thankful!
