Sylvan House EMI Residential Home in Wirral, Birkenhead offers care for people over the age of 52 as well as those with dementia.

Running Sylvan House EMI Residential EMI Home is a team effort coordinated by the founders and home management team; the Home Manager and the Director & Nominated Individual are responsible for a team of over twenty staff and for maintaining exceptional standards and upholding company beliefs.

They value their staff and place great emphasis upon training and supervision. The care team and ancillary staff all have training in Dementia Care, React to Red, Infection Control, First Aid, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA), Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Dignity and Palliative Care. They are proud to announce that they are now General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant.

I can honestly say that the care my loved one received at Sylvan House was wonderful. The staff are caring above and beyond, they are nothing short of angels. Not only do they care for the residents but they care for their families too. It's the little extra touches that mean the most and has made our
experience as a family a lot easier to manager. They genuinely do care and as a family that is all you can ask for.

My and Mum's experience has been one of kindness, understanding, listening, and really going all they can to respect my mum's personality. I know that all aspects of my mum's care are carried out with the utmost dignity, and she is always laughing or moaning, and that's my mum.

My aunt went to Sylvan House after I found she could not cope at home on her own. She loves being there, and the staff keep me updated on how she is doing. I live over an hour away and work full-time, so it's hard to see my aunt often, but I never worry about her, as the staff are amazing, and when
I do see her, she looks great and very happy.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives at Sylvan House, the staff are caring lovely people, they are friendly and approachable, they have also done brilliantly looking after the residents and haven’t had any Covid in the home.

I am very happy here now but there was a time when I was unhappy due to a member of staff but this issue has been resolved and management let them go.
I find it hard to sleep as my bed is uncomfortable.

Sarah-Jane Dodd

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Sarah has joined Sylvan House Care Home in April 2025 as the new Home Manager. Sarah has a wealth of Health & Social Care experience having worked in children's education & social care before starting her career as a Occupational/Physiotherapy Healthcare Assistant at the Countess of Chester Hospital. From here her clinical career progressed to becoming a GP Practice Healthcare Assistant and latterly Assistant Practitioner. During this time Sarah continued her professional development becoming a CQC Registered Manager in September 2023.


Sarah holds Level 3 & 4 qualifications as well as a BSc (Hons) Degree in Healthcare & Health Science. Her specific professional interests are Mental Health, Dementia Care and End of Life Care.


Sarah is also a trained Mental Health First Aider as well as having completed Dementia Friend & Champion training.
