My mum was a resident at Fairhaven Lodge Care Home for 4 years and suffered from dementia. The home was always warm, clean and welcoming. The staff were all friendly, demonstrating caring towards the residents; treating them as individuals, taking the time to look after them. My mum had challenging
behaviour at times, the staff seemed to cope very well with this, being both patient and supportive. My mum always seemed quite settled, clean and well fed when we visited. The home was about the right size for mums needs, small enough to care, with all the staff getting to know all the residents. One of the things we noticed during the 4 years, was that there wasn't a high turnover of staff which made for a calm and professional environment. Would we recommend Fairhaven Lodge to other families, yes absolutely.

My husband has been a resident of Fairhaven Lodge since November 2024. He has Alzheimer's disease and had been in another residential dementia home for two months previously. He was in care while I was having radical treatment for cancer. I moved him into Fairhaven Lodge as the previous care home was
inadequate for his dementia needs. I have found Fairhaven Lodge to be able to provide all his care needs by carers who understand the need of dementia residents. The Manager and Regional Manager are always available and I find the residents to be treated as family. It has become impossible for me to care for my husband at home but I am confident that he is in a welcoming and safe environment.

The home and the staff continue to provide excellent care for my Mum who has been living at Fairhaven for two years. The team are able to provide individualised and inclusive support, fully informed and responsive to my Mum's needs and preferences. The team can provide some activities within the home
to drive engagement across the different resident requirements. The home is always a welcoming environment when I visit with excellent communication via email and telephone when needed. They are as supportive of families as the residents themselves, a welcome reassurance. Thank you for everything!

I find the care home staff friendly and down to earth and always pleasant to me and my daughter when we visit mum. I get offered a cup of tea and they tell me how mum is getting on
The home looks clean and tidy and i think there has been some decorating and new furniture
The home manager communicates
well via email with any concerns and updates
I get invited to social events at the home which is nice
The residents do quite a lot of nice activites and I get to see some lovely photos on the Home social media page
I am confident and reassured the staff are very caring and are looking after my mum's needs well.

They are amazing some fantastic caring staff. The home isn't the grandest of places with fancy décor. What it does have is some amazing people who care and work very hard to do their absolute best with what they have for the people in their care. Money can't buy that.

Fairhaven Lodge is absolutely fantastic. My grandad recently passed away there and they couldn't have done more to make him and our entire family comfortable at one of the most difficult times of our lives. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff are absolutely fabulous and made us feel like part
of the family the entire time grandad lived there. They did such a good job looking after grandad for the last year or so he was always well looked after and happy there. We would like to thank every single one of the staff but especially Nikki the manager. She is brilliant! We would not hesitate to recommend Fairhaven Lodge to anybody looking for a home for their loved one.

Wow what can I say about this amazing team. From day one of looking round to now the whole team have been amazing at supporting my dad and our whole family. I could not have asked anymore from them. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone and know that they will give others the support
and peace of mind that they have given us.
As a care manager myself, I have high standards and they surpassed everything I expect from them. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
Thank you for everything
Will miss you all, but will stay in touch.

Professional care - my mum from day one at Fairhaven Lodge. It's her 4th year. Enjoys activities. Outing along prom when able etc. Plus her own pretty bedroom. Secure care home. Bright. None slip floors. Able to ask questions to staff, in person or by phone. Keep family informed. Her own life book is
completed and ongoing, and staff can relate to her. Photos, postcards, birthday cards etc. Music. She enjoys her food.

This team go above and beyond for their residents. They have had no Covid-19 within the home, that includes both residents and staff.
Most staff lived in for ten weeks during this trying time. The staff are very approachable and helpful and easy to communicate with. I am so pleased that my mother-in-law
has a place in this wonderful home. I would highly recommend this home to anybody who is looking for five-star care.

The care managers have been in place for the last 17-years, which shows that they are dedicated to the care and wellbeing of the residents. As a result, they do not employ agency staff to cover for holidays/illness, but do the work themselves. The staff have a happy disposition and are caring and supportive
of the residents, which leads to a friendly and comfortable environment. The lounges are large, airy and bright with individual chairs. There is some need of very minor decorative repairs required.

My Mum was admitted to Fairhaven in Sept 19 after moving to St Annes in July 19. Previously she had spent a year in a care home in Manchester and this was not a particularly pleasant experience for her or for my Dad and I. However, it did give us a baseline from which to judge Fairhaven.
In my opinion,
you would struggle to find a better (dementia) care home for your relative(s). From the staff at the top, through the cooks, senior staff and the carers they are consummately professional and, more importantly, take care of the residents as if they were their own relatives. I know this sounds too good to be true but I can testify that it is correct.
Unfortunately, my Mum passed away 3/1/20. Their care extended to helping my Dad come to terms with the loss of his wife of 55-years and they also attended the funeral as a mark of respect to Mum and, in their, own way, to extend their care to her final resting place.
Lovely place, lovely people - don't hesitate if they have beds.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.496)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.496) out of 10 for Fairhaven Lodge Residential Dementia Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.796 for Fairhaven Lodge Residential Dementia Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.796
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairhaven Lodge Residential Dementia Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
