My experience with Albany House has been nothing but positive, although my husband was only a resident for 10 days on end of life care the management and staff have been caring and considerate throughout, they couldn't do enough for us, they put my mind at ease knowing I could contact them at any time
of day or night when I wasn't sat with my husband. The only letdown is that the room was very much in need of a facelift and decorating, but I was assured that this is all in hand and that each room was in the process of being decorated.

Staff are attentive to service users' needs. Always welcoming when I visit. Service users are always clean and tidy, but not always in own clothes. I understand that with many residents, mistakes can be made. Management is approachable and will take time to listen to concerns.

I have been coming to the Albany Care Home for just over 5 years. The first couple of years, to see my mother-in-law, who used to reside at my house until she deteriorated with her dementia and now my own mum, who has been in The Albany for 3 years. I couldn't praise the home and the staff enough. Lovely
girls, lovely manager and the care and respect they give to all the residents is second to none. I would recommend to any family if they have elderly parents or relatives to come to the home if they can no longer stay in their own home.

Home very clean and laundry service is very good with great care taken to keep internal surroundings clean and safe . Gardens have lots of use by many more mobile residents and shade always available .
Food is fresh and residents have good choice of menu. It was good to see my mum eating a more
nutritional diet than she had at home.
The care home is extremely hot and heating on all the time . This works for many residents but not all. Residents approached in a friendly professional way. Pictures from home welcomed and handy person available to install them quickly to make residents feel more at home . Outside of the care home can look scruffy at times but that might be due to location not effort of staff.
As a relative new to care home setting on personal level I didn't always feel included or my experience of caring for my relative valued .
I feel my mum is safe , clean and getting good nutrition . Mum moans that they can't make a good cup of tea but she's fussy .

Very caring staff - attentive to each resident. When visiting my mum 6 days in consecutive was treated like family - all residents included in conversations, activity and well-being considered.
While the home is an older residence, the house is clean, well maintained and feels homely!

My dad has been here a year now. And I cannot fault the care he's received over the past 12 months. We now have a new home manager who used to be the deputy is fitting in nicely.. and goes above and beyond in her duties. The manager is approachable and listens to feedback. Also, we have a lovely new
deputy manager. All the care staff and non-care staff are lovely friendly and welcoming. I would give Albany House a 10/10.

I was a little unsure about my mum staying here, even though at the time it was only for four/five weeks. However I was pleased with how my mum was looked after and at first, I became happier with my mum being at Albany House. However, after my mum's assessment showed she needed to stay in a care home
for the rest of her life, things changed. Don't get me wrong, the staff can not do enough for you and all seem friendly, however, the place is let down by the fact the manager does seem to be bothered doing his job. After calling each day for five days running, asking to speak with him, each time being told he is busy but he will call you back, but he never did. I am now left not being able to make a visit because he can not be bothered to call me back and also I am unable to sort my Mum's future care again because he has not called me back. Now I am left with contacting the head office to make a formal complaint.

Having seen Albany House from the outside not looking its best, I was very anxious as to the care my mother would receive. However not able to go fully into the care home at this present time I can only comment on what I have experienced. The staff I have met have been very caring and respectful which
has given me much comfort. There was an incident with a staff member - it was dealt with in a professional manner. The manager kept me fully informed of all procedures and any support we may need.

I have found the staff at Albany House to be warm and friendly. I have witnessed nothing but kindness to my wife. She is quite obviously very happy at Albany House and the staff seem to be happy with her. My wife is happy, so I am happy. I am satisfied that my wife's health and well-being needs are

This care home has given my mother the best care, dignity, and compassion during end-of-life care. As I have spent so much time in the home I could hear the carers interacting with other residents so the care they receive is consistent, not just a show when visitors are around. Every single one of the
carers deserves a medal, they are angels in disguise, I would never have got through it without them. The care home manager is so obliging and the staff are happy in their jobs, which makes good carers. I thank every single one of you, thank you all so much.

We have always been very satisfied with our relative's care. She is always clean and well cared for by staff. She has been in Albany House since 2017 and we have always been satisfied with the care given. Any questions we have they are only too pleased to answer. Wouldn't want her anywhere else.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.569)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.569) out of 10 for Albany House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.444 for Albany House is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.444
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albany House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
