Everything about Elmsfield House says CARE and LOVE. The staff at this establishment are amazing, friendly and helpful. It is run and managed by the most caring owner, who I know without a shadow of a doubt would use the services of this home for the care of his own parents - that says something.
The
care that the staff give to the residents here is second to none - it is indeed a CARE home.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the residents and their visitors alike and it is obvious that a large amount of money has been spent upgrading essential equipment as required by the staff in order for the elderly in their care to have the best available facilities in order to assist their needs.
I was very impressed by the care shown here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others. In fact, I have already done so!

Modern accommodation in a quiet countryside setting. We have seen evidence of continuing improvements around the house, such as a lift being installed now and the adaption of the Gold Standards Framework. The nursing staff seems knowledgeable and competent and the other staff caring and gentle. Mother
seems settled and happy here and has even been persuaded to join in the activities. All in all a good choice for her remaining years. Thank you.

Lovely atmosphere, nothing too much trouble for the staff or management. Kind and considerate with clients. Unfortunately, my mother was only there at the end of her life but the care was excellent.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.647) out of 10 for Elmsfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.872 for Elmsfield House is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 125 Ratings = 4.872
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elmsfield House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

Hello, I’m Tharangani Colombage, the Home Manager at Elmsfield House. Most people call me Tara!

I’m a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK) and the Nursing Council of Sri Lanka, and I bring more than 17 years of nursing experience to my role.

I began my career in Sri Lanka, where I worked for over 13 years in acute, critical, and trauma care. Since moving to the UK, I’ve spent the past four years working in adult care settings, supporting older adults with nursing, dementia, and palliative care needs.

My main goal is simple — to support residents to be healthy, safe, and comfortable, while ensuring people feel valued and respected. I’m passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care, whilst supporting our wonderful team of to reach their full potential. I have worked at Elmsfield House as a Nurse, Clinical Lead Nurse and now the Home Manager.

I hold a B.Sc. Special in Nursing (Trauma elective, 2017) and a Diploma in General Nursing (2008), which covered medical, surgical, and mental health nursing.

These qualifications, together with years of hands-on experience, have helped me build a strong sense of clinical judgment and leadership skills.

Every person has a story — and I believe great care begins with listening. I’m proud to be part of a home where compassion, professionalism, and teamwork come together to make a real difference.
