My mother often tells me how good the care is and how friendly everyone is. She has been there for a year with dementia. She also compliments the chef.

Our father with Alzheimer's moved in to Burn Brae last autumn after other living arrangements were no longer feasible. So far we have been really impressed with the personalised care and support he has received there and also the support and communications we have received as a family. Despite his illness, he is very active and the team have really supported this and ensured he is kept occupied and that he continues to be as independent as possible.

The home has a homely friendly feel to it that many of the larger places seem to lack. An added bonus is that it is set in beautiful country side and all the rooms seem to have wonderful views too.

We would definitely recommend Burn Brae Lodge.

My mother-in-law received excellent care at Burn Brae Lodge. The staff are all lovely. Nothing was ever a problem. I would consider the place to be a home from home. I would happily recommend the home to my friends and family because of this.

Mum was a resident at Burn Brae Lodge for over 3 years, and was happy, comfortable and well looked after there. She had a wonderful view over the Tyne Valley from her room, and made some good friends. She enjoyed her meals; and her room was kept clean daily. All of the staff were caring and attentive to her needs, particularly as those increased. Burn Brae is a very easy going and friendly care home, and the senior staff are always available to talk to family when issues arise. Visitors are welcomed at any time. If you are looking for a care home with a friendly, family feel, do consider Burn Brae.

My mum has been resident at Burn Brae since November 2023: she's currently 96, has poor mobility and some cognitive difficulties. I think I can honestly say that she has been more content over the past 2 1/2 years than I have ever known her to be. The staff know her as a person (it really helps that staffing is amazingly stable: people tend to work there for years at a time), they understand her ways and preferences, and think creatively about how best to make her at home. The whole atmosphere is just human; it doesn't _feel_ like an institution. When we first looked around, after having visited some pretty grim alternatives, it was immediately and obviously right. If I could reserve a place for myself in advance, I would.

The Burn Brae team are very special people who do amazing work, I would definitely recommend this care home.

My Mother was 94 years old and suffering from Alzeheimers when she went to live at Burnbrae Lodge. She lived there for over 3 years before she died in November 2025 aged 97. She was cared for with patience, dignity and love and could not have been made more comfortable. The Burnbrae Team were the most wonderful carers who never let her down, were always there as she needed them. They protected her and loved her and my family will always be grateful for their dedication. She did not live "in" a Home, she was "at" Home with her Burnbrae family. Thank you Burnbrae Lodge Care Home. Outstanding care, understanding and empathy for my Mother throughout her residency with you. Thank you for always making my family welcome on visits to Mum and for your support of us as well as your care of Mum.

We can never forget the annual barbecue, nor the support received at 1 am from a member of staff, ensuring my mother did not spend her last few days in hospital. We were given 24-hour access and she passed away in a serene, comfortable and familiar environment. The care shown to our family at that sad time was so thoughtful. We have no hesitation in recommending Burn Brae Lodge.

They treat all residents with respect and dignity and provide all the support and care needed, always treating each resident as a individual with specific needs, within a "home from home" environment.
