We visited lots of homes when looking for a suitable place for our mum and are so glad we found Moorcroft! The staff are exceptional and the care provided to residents is wonderful - the residents are treated with patience, kindness, dignity and respect.Family and friends are welcome to visit at any
time. There is always a warm and happy atmosphere and it is clear that staff, managers and the owners genuinely care. The home is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated (almost like a hotel) and lots of effort is put into celebrating special occasions and birthdays. There are also lots of varied activities that the residents can choose to partake in if they wish, and a beautifully maintained peaceful garden where the residents can sit out, as well as in which everybody enjoyed the summer party with family and friends. And additional services such as hairdressing, chiropody, manicures etc. It really is a lovely home where you know your family member is safe and is receiving exceptional care

Extremely well maintained house with excellent facilities. Friendly and caring staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. They were very thorough in finding out as much as they could about my mum before she moved in and have done everything they can to make her feel welcome , settled and at home.
She describes her experience as being in a big family and feels completely at home . There are regular activities which residents can access if they want to but my Mum's choices are always respected. The other residents are friendly and help each other. The food is very good and plentiful! I couldn't have wished for a better place for my Mum to live in when she needed more care than I could provide for her at home.
Reply from Marcus Wilkes, Director at Moorcroft Residential HomeIt is so lovely to hear that in such a short space of time, mum is feeling like being in a big family here at Moorcroft. This is exactly the kind of experience we want everyone in our care to feel, it is something that happens naturally between all of our guests and staff and it is lovely to part of. Many thanks for your lovely words.

Recommended by a friend, Moorcroft was a breath of fresh air! I visited 6 carehomes in the area, and although others offered all the care, the ownsers of this care home simply get involved with the running of it, as opposed to just leaving it to the manager. They have an invested interest in all the
residents and get to know them. The home itself doesn't scream "old" or your typical "old people's home" - it is a house with plenty of space for the residents, and the staff go out of their way to make them feel special. Staff are a mix of young and older, which are super friendly and caring. The facilities and the amount of activities they provide are second to none, not just sitting in front of a tv. They are treated as people. Both manager and a member of staff came to the hospital initially to introduce themselves bfore my mum was discharged which made my mum feel welcome even before she went there. It's a home from home not a hospital where they're left. Gave me much asssurance.
Reply from Marcus Wilkes, Director at Moorcroft Residential HomeThank you so much for your very kind words. We like to think as the whole of Moorcroft as one big family, we go to this lovely house every day, it does not feel like work, it is like you are spending the day with your friends.

Moorcroft is a very welcoming place. It's beautifully decorated and maintains an air of comfort and safety whenever you visit. The staff members are cheerful and friendly with visitors and warm and caring with the residents. They are aware of each resident's condition and adapt their interaction with
them accordingly - I've been touched observing some quiet, private moments between staff and residents. I've been equally impressed by their use of humour too. The dignity and well-being of the residents are of prime concern. Many varied activities are provided regularly throughout the week and all special occasions are marked with enthusiasm. As for the chef, and the food prepared - just great - day after day. I cannot commend Marcus and Jayne highly enough for providing such a caring home - Moorcroft is a HOME in every sense of the word .

I cannot speak highly enough of the care this home provides for my grandmother. From the moment she arrived, she has been treated with dignity, kindness, and genuine compassion, which has given me complete peace of mind.

This place feels far more like a hotel than a care home. The environment is

beautiful, always spotless, and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. She is comfortable, well cared for, and truly at ease, which means everything to me as her granddaughter.

The staff are outstanding. They are patient, attentive, and genuinely caring, always taking the time to treat her as an individual. Her wellbeing and happiness are clearly a priority, and the level of respect shown to her is exceptional.

Choosing this home was one of the best decisions I have made. I am incredibly grateful to the entire team for their professionalism, warmth, and dedication. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for outstanding care in a beautiful, supportive environment.

It's a huge change moving in to residential care. The owners plus all their team have made this work for our mother and for us. They take a person centred approach treating the residents as family and provide a lovely environment with good food, activities, fun and kindness. When mum has had health
issues they have looked for solutions to support her, going that extra mile. I can't thank and recommend them and Moorcroft enough.
Reply from Marcus Wilkes, Director at Moorcroft Residential HomeThank you for your very positive review Sarah. We know how difficult a move like this can be and we always endeavour to ensure that the transition is as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.550)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.550) out of 10 for Moorcroft Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Moorcroft Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorcroft Residential Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
