Parkside is a warm and supportive residential home for adults with complex autism, learning disabilities, specialist communication needs, behaviours that may challenge, and emotional or sensory support needs. Situated in a spacious detached house in Maesycwmmer near Caerphilly, the home provides a safe and tailored environment where people are encouraged to live meaningful and independent lives. The team also supports individuals with higher-level needs, including those who require 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 support.
The home is designed to promote independence, featuring four self-contained apartments, each with a private bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, and dedicated staff space. A shared communal area offers opportunities for socialising, while the enclosed garden provides a calm outdoor space. Each person has their own front door, creating a sense of ownership and privacy within a supportive setting. The location offers parking and easy access to public transport.
Support at Parkside is shaped around each individual’s strengths, routines, and goals. The team focuses on daily living skills, confidence building, communication, wellbeing, and personal choice, following both Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Active Support. People are supported to enjoy activities such as gardening, cooking, swimming, trampolining, attending events, exploring hobbies, and taking part in cultural or religious celebrations. Activities and outings are risk assessed to ensure safety while encouraging growth and enjoyment.
Everyone is actively involved in shaping their care through regular meetings, reflective sessions, and co-produced plans, with families welcomed and included throughout. Parkside offers a warm, reassuring environment where individuals feel listened to, supported, and valued.
