Bryn Y Môr is a Victorian Manor House set in seven acres of private gardens and woodland located one mile from Penysarn and three miles from Amlwch. The home commands outstanding views of the coast and the surrounding countryside. There is parking to the front of the building. The communal space includes a lounge, conservatory and dining room. The bedrooms are provided on the ground and first floor. An enclosed garden is accessed through the conservatory door.
Twenty-six rooms, all are ensuite – 9 of which have a shower.

The local village of Penysarn provides a small corner shop where newspapers are provided. A regular bus service then takes 3 minutes west to Amlwch the local town which provides a variety of shops, opticians and the Local Health Centre, cafes and restaurants. The bus also travels east to Benllech, a scenic beach resort, again providing amenities along with walks along the beach and various food outlets to suit many tastes.

My mother receives excellent care at Bryn y Mor, the staff and managers are always very helpful, and always very supportive. Mum has settled at Bryn y Mor and feels very safe there, and when I visit I feel very welcomed by the staff.

Having viewed 3 other care homes before Bryn y Mor, I have never regretted the decision to place my friend (for whom I have POA) in Bryn y Mor. It is almost 3 years since my friend became residents, and after the initial settling down she has been as happy here as she could possible be.
My overriding
view of Bryn y Mor is of the cleanliness and friendliness of the place, and the carers are absolutely wonderful. They show a heartwarming level of genuine care, compassion, and respect.
When my friend returned from a couple of days in hospital recently, she was greeted ack by the staff as if she were family. Definitely the right choice of care home.

My brother needs 24 hour care & I searched lots of different care homes for dementia. Which just wasn't suitable at all.
I visited Bryn y Mor & found exactly what my brother needed.
They allowed me to change the room to suit my brother & make everything similar to his previous flat. He instantly
settled in like home from home.
If I ever phone to ask to help him with his phone & TV they go above & beyond to help him.
The staff are all very friendly & the floor manager always deals with any concerns you have & puts your mind at rest.
I never wanted my brother to go into care but it's the best decision I made choosing Bryn Y Mor.

Our relative has settled well in Bryn y Môr where the staff are caring, kind and sensitive to her needs. Within the first fortnight of being at Bryn y Môr, she has improved rapidly with her physical ability from being totally unable to move or stand independently, to by now getting up from her chair
and walking with the aid of a frame with the staff being always caring, available to assist and responsive to her needs.
She enjoys listening to the musical entertainment and activities provided.
We are always felt welcome when visiting and know that we would be able to approach any member of staff for information or advice if the need arises. The Home is always clean and tidy and with magnificent views.

Food still inadequate, one fish finger for lunch today (9th September).
Men wandering the corridor still opening the door and sometimes coming in and frightening her.
She sees no one apart from when they bring food and drink, unless she buzzes but then she has opted to stay in her room.
She was
recently poorly and antibiotics didn't seem to be working and she felt no one was listening to her.
She worried that there was not a qualified nurse onsite so felt unsafe.
When I take her food, she seems to think people (who?) take it, I don't know if this is the case or not.
Staff seem lovely.

Deeply saddening to receive this review. Management is always available to discuss any concerns, be it either face to face or via email and staff are also very approachable. Firstly thank you for bringing in items that the individual liked as well as their food supplied by BYM, in regards to 1 fish finger, this would not have been served unless the individual had specified they'd only wanted 1, as they were always approached before each meal to ask what they wanted, incorporating what had been brought in special for them by visitors, which would have been stored in the fridge/kitchen as per food hygiene, and they would have received them as they would have their name on them. In regards man wandering into her room, this did happen and the man was reviewed and moved elsewhere. We are a residential home, however, staff are aware when individuals are ill and concerns are always acted on immediately all of which is all documented. District Nurses and GP input is also regular.

The staff at the care home are great but there's simply not enough employed to run the operation effectively. There are times when residents walk into other people's rooms, which is not good. Consequently, this has resulted in property going missing. I'm always made to feel welcomed when I visit my
mother and this is truly very much appreciated. It's such a shame that there's not enough staff employed, as the staff work really hard to try and cover the shortfalls. I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to all at the care home.

It is unfortunate that Dementia can affect the way in which any individual with it reacts from day to day and also how they respond in their home environment. Bryn Y Mor endeavours to meet all our resident's individual needs. Some properties that are reported to have gone missing, are often found to have been moved or misplaced. The Manager has an open door policy and is happy to discuss any concerns as soon as practicably possible to deal with any situation that arises.

My mum has been there for eighteen months now and they treat her very well. She always seems very comfortable and I am happy to know that she is safe and well looked after. The manager keeps us updated and is very helpful.

My mother is very happy at Bryn y Mor and is always clean and smartly dressed at all times.
When I visit my mother, the carers are always pleasant and helpful!
The manager has always been there for us if we have any concerns.

Bryn Y Mor is a lovely care home. Residents are well cared for and staff are warm and kind. It's set in a beautiful location and is clean and well-maintained. There are some extra activities like fitness classes. The manager responds quickly to emails and is helpful. Mum has a lovely room with en-suite.

My sister is happy at the care home and eating a lot better and always clean. Only negative thing is she is not always wearing her own clothes in her wardrobe. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I think some of the residents should go sit in the sun and get fresh air.

Lovely place with amazing views. Always clean and tidy, Mum seems settled here (Alzheimer's), beds are changed regularly, washing done daily. Very happy to have Mum closer to me now. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful, nothing is too much bother for them. My only minor issue is no landlines
to individual rooms, Mum has a mobile but is always fiddling with it and turning if off (the staff are good about turning it back on!)

This is a lovely place with very good staff. Mum in law is 82 & has dementia, she is happy here & is well looked after, always clean & tidy, hair & nails done regularly. The staff banter with her which is what she likes, but I have also seen them with other residents & they are all treated well & with
respect. They have regular entertainment here & the odd day out, they have a trip to Pringles coming up in August. They keep us informed when Mum in law is not well & have the doctor out to visit if necessary. As a family we are happy with the care received & would highly recommend Bryn Y Mor.
