William Simpsons charges a flat fee which includes almost all extras: an extensive inhouse activity programme delivered over 7 days a week; nail bar and basic hair styling salon; bespoke fitness and mobility programmes delivered by the Home’s Fitness Coach including free access to local leisure centre facilities with gym, sports and swimming pool access.
The Home subsidises some of the more expensive activities to make them accessible and affordable for residents, such as the visiting Aromatherapy ‘Wellness Spa’ and Equi-Power RDA Horse Care sessions at the local stables.
Treatment from the visiting Podiatrist incurs a small fee and professional hairdressing services provided by external Salon Professionals will be charged at the salon prices.

Catherine has been involved with William Simpsons for over 23 years. After initially joining the laundry team, Catherine discovered that care was her calling, and she worked her way through the ranks. She held the role of Deputy Care Manager with responsibility for Day Care and Respite services for over 6 years, becoming Care Manager in 2023.
Outside of work, Catherine is a devoted mother and granny. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, occasional weekend trips to Blackpool and holidays in Spain. As a local girl, born and bred in the village of Plean, Catherine has grown up with an understanding of the importance of the work we do here in the Home. All of this grassroots experience has given Catherine a clear understanding of what constitutes exceptional care. It is her passion to ensure every resident has the opportunity and support to live their best life, and at some point every day, you will find Catherine spending time with individual residents in conversation, listening and building solid foundations for friendships.
John is an experienced Deputy Manager with over 15 years of care experience with William Simpsons. He started out as a Care Assistant before gaining the knowledge and experience to gain promotion to Team Leader, and again in 2017 when he took on the Deputy Manager role. For John, it has always been the personal connection with residents that he values the most, and this has been a continuing priority throughout his career in care.
On a personal level, John is an experienced and knowledgeable horseman with a love of racing and a passion for travel. A true globe-trotter in every sense of the term!
It was relocating from the city that originally brought Zoe to William Simpsons in 2012, initially as a Deputy Manager, then expanding her role to Operations Manager. Now, over 14 years later, Zoe guides the organisation forward as the Chief Executive with her feet firmly planted in the ethos which has seen our Home grow.
"It's so important to recognise each resident's individuality and tailor their care accordingly, supporting the whole person, their physical health, mental health and emotional wellbeing. Care should never be 'one size fits all'. We apply the same ethos to staffing with the positive outcome of a strong, committed and dedicated staff team."
Zoe is a Community Councillor and a Trustee of the local community trust. In her free time, Zoe loves to explore the Scottish countryside with her husband and Gibbs, their cockerpoo. Gibbs joins Zoe at work most days but is seldom found in the office, preferring to snuggle up on residents' knees instead, making the most of all the attention!
Hannah joined William Simpsons in 2023 on completion of her university degree. She is the warm, friendly face who heads up the HR department, supporting and guiding staff through all stages of employment from their very first enquiry onwards. Hannah orientates new starters through the onboarding process and plays an important and active role throughout the induction period, providing continuity to ensure staff enjoy the best start to their career with William Simpsons and beyond. She also keeps up to date with changes in employment law to ensure the organisation remains a compliant, responsive employer and staff feel valued and supported.
On a personal level, Hannah enjoys sports and can often be found on the football pitch playing with her local team or, as an avid reader, losing herself in a good book.
Alan joined William Simpsons in 2017 as a Team Leader with a solid background in care. Before joining William Simpsons, he worked within a Respite Unit and later in the community, where he developed a broad understanding of person-centred support across different care settings.
Alan was drawn to William Simpsons because of the positive working environment, the client group, and the organisation’s commitment to supporting a healthy work–life balance. His dedication and capability led to the opportunity to progress into the role of Supervisor, a position in which he gained valuable insight into the management side of the organisation.
This role also allowed Alan to work closely with external professionals and supported his development through further relevant qualifications.
For Alan, delivering high-quality care and contributing to a well-supported team remain central to his role. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, walking, and reading. He is also a proud grandparent to two young grandchildren, who happily keep him busy in his spare time.
Tamara started her career in care aged 18, moving to William Simpsons as a Team Leader in 2019 after hearing about the quality of care and positive working environment within the Home. Tamara initially worked with the night shift team but later moved onto the day shift, where she achieved the relevant SVQ level qualification and gained promotion to the Supervisor team.
For Tamara, care is a way of life and something of a family profession. It was her mum, a mental health nurse, who showed her the value of truly person-centred care when she took up her first social care post within the nursing home where they both worked. The positive impact that really good, person-centred care can have on an individual has never left Tamara, and she has made it the foundation of her practice.
When she’s not at work, Tamara is kept busy with her young son and loves spending time with family and friends.
Craig joined William Simpsons in 2014, fresh from school, with a strong desire to do something meaningful that would help others. Care has been more than just a career for Craig, and although he has progressed from Team Leader to a Supervisor role, it is the positive impact on the daily lives of residents that he is most proud of, being able to play a part in helping residents to enjoy meaningful days and fulfilling lives.
Craig is a family man who loves spending time with his children, family and friends. He's an avid reader with a particular interest in history and theology alongside computer programming and software development.
Kelly started out in retail but soon realised her heart was not in it. After initially joining William Simpsons in 2015 and finding her feet with the Domestic team, Kelly felt herself drawn towards care and transferred over to a Support Worker role. She worked quietly away, gaining experience and knowledge, working towards SVQ level qualifications, the role of Team Leader and more recently the Supervisor role.
Kelly's passion for care is clear to see, and when asked what the thing she enjoys most about her work, her response was 'The resident contact - being able to build relationships, supporting residents' independence. I leave work knowing that I've helped make someone's day better, and that's so rewarding. Seeing residents feel safe, valued and happy is what motivates me every day.'
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She's an adventurous cook who loves to walk.
