Staff know my father well and are sensitive to his needs. He has mouth cancer and they prepare food that is soft - and offer alternatives when he does not want to eat. Staff are friendly and courteous.
Reply from Suzy Izatt, Manager at St Andrews House Care HomeWe are delighted to hear that the staff really knew your father. We pride ourselves in knowing each resident as a person.

The staff do an amazing job caring for my friend as she becomes increasingly more rude, cantankerous and at times aggressive. Their tolerance and good nature cannot be faulted. The home is always brightly decorated and welcoming. The food is good and varied, worth every penny.
Reply from Claire Hume, Non-Clinical Manager at St Andrews House Care HomeThank you for your comments. We like to see individual personalities shine through our residents, and the staff have a soft spot for your friend! We try to make the home as warm and welcoming as we can, and of course, we do like to make an effort for the special occasions!

Wish carers had more time to talk with residents. Wish there were more trips out in bus. Wish rooms had a view of a garden. Wish easier access to outdoors.
Reply from Claire Hume, Non-Clinical Manager at St Andrews House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We have an extra Care Assistant working each day to relieve pressure and give the staff more time to spend with individual residents to improve quality of care and support. As we are coming into the warmer months, there will be regular bus trips to local attractions for everyone to enjoy. These trips will increase in frequency as the weather (hopefully) improves. Most rooms on the North side of the building have views over the garden grounds, however, we are open to ideas for making the gardens more attractive and accessible.

Perfect organisation. Friendly, cheerful atmosphere. Management on top of everything, supervisors and guides. Nurses check and see the daily routine performed by the carers is all done well. My daily visits to my daughter who needs non stop care can testify that all is done for her amazingly well. She
is so lucky to be here, this is a wonderful place with wonderful people. So grateful.

We visit my mother every week. She is genuinely looked after to the highest standard with every member of staff knowing her by name and knowing me as her son. They always go above and beyond to ensure she is happy and all of her needs are attended to. She is treated with tender care and her privacy
is respected.

We cannot praise the staff of St Andrews House enough, our Mum receives the best care we could possibly ask for. When we arrive the staff are so welcoming, and genuinely interested in her and the rest of the family. You can feel the atmosphere as soon as you arrive.

The food is excellent, her

room is spotlessly clean and her clothes are always clean and her own!

She herself is happy, safe and extremely content.

Everyone on the staff is very welcoming and there is a real feeling of care and attention to the needs of the residents. My mother has had wonderful nursing and I am reassured that she is at all times safe and comfortable. I can rely on all to look after her and that is the most important factor. There
is a wonderful feeling of informality in the care home as dogs are welcomed.. but this does not impair the standard of cleanliness which is excellent. I can't thank everyone involved enough for looking after my mother so well.
Reply from Suzy Izatt, Manager at St Andrews House Care HomeThis is such a lovely review. We feel that the care home residents/relatives and staff are one big family. We have known you a long time and i hope coming to the care home feels like coming home to visit your mum.

Very impressed with the care and attention given to all residents.
It would be nice if there was a kitchen section for residents to use to make them feel they're entertaining when visitors are in.
More activities and a list of activities displayed would be good.
Reply from Claire Hume, Non-Clinical Manager at St Andrews House Care HomeThank you for your lovely review, we value all feedback.
We are in the process of renovating the West lounge with the aim of creating a Vintage tearoom, with baking facilities. We have tabletop ovens and hobs that will be available for everyone to create sweet and savoury treats for themselves, their neighbours and their guests, with help from the care staff.
Organised activities are printed weekly and available on the table in the foyer. We are always open to suggestions for indoor and outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by the residents.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.670)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.670) out of 10 for St Andrews House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.770 for St Andrews House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (154 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 191 Ratings = 4.77
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Andrews House Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
