Mum moved into Southpark a few weeks ago and she has settled really well. Kirstie and her team have been amazing and made the move for her and us so much easier than we expected it would be. Any worries or questions have been dealt with happily over the phone or in person. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The care mum is receiving is fabulous. She has company and is kept busy every day which is so good for her, and we are able to see what she's been up to with the regular social media posts.

We are absolutely delighted with our decision that mum moves into Southpark. It is so homely and intimate and the staff really care about all of the ladies which is lovely.

My gran has recently moved into Southpark and it has been incredible for us. She has been looked after with such care and kindness by all the staff. The home is so well looked after and decorated. It's so homely and clean. The small details, like having blankets in the lounges is such a nice touch. The gardens are beautiful and well thought out. The activities have been brilliant and so well done. My gran is the happiest I have seen her in years being able to freely move around and socialise in a way she hasn't been able to in so long. We have been so grateful as a family.

My mum recently moved into the care home in December 2023. We have found staff friendly and very efficient in the care of my mum. We are kept informed regarding any matters relating to her care.

Only a little problem regarding laundry, which seems to have items disappearing, but, hopefully, this is just temporary and resolves in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I have asked our senior housekeeper to reach out to you and go through our unmarked laundry with you and discuss the need to name all clothing. I am glad to hear that you are happy with our staff and our communication.

Throughout April my mother required various additional services such as dental treatment. Southpark staff facilitated this efficiently, keeping me informed but always trying to minimise the impact on myself.
Staff are always helpful, and friendly and seem to genuinely care for the well-being of my mother and other residents who each have their individual needs and requirements.

I feel confident that my mother's safety and well-being is in good hands.

I have always found the staff and management of Southpark excellent, always offered tea and biscuits as soon as I enter the home, they give my mother the best of attention, in one word excellent and well looked after and safe. Any slight problem with my mother, be it a slight fall for example, they are right on the phone to me to let me know, but that isn't very often. Southpark is a great residential home.

My friend has been at Southpark since 2016. I have always been overwhelmed with the kindness that is shown to her, the ladies and visitors from the staff at every visit. They understand what a hard decision it is to have to place your loved one there and be with them when you can't be. Their motto is never to leave Southpark with worry or concern! They are on it! From the management to the very youngest staff members, the care, knowledge and love filter through. The house itself is very well-kept, clean and tidy. The food is tasty, with snacks and a trolley bar. You can stay as long as you like without feeling awkward or that you are getting in the way. A range of activities is available and they celebrate many festivals. People can have privacy in their own room if they don't want to join in. My friend has had a life-threatening operation and has got through it. They got through COVID! Going above and beyond. I can't praise them enough!

When I shared your review with the staff this morning and read out "the care, knowledge and love filters through", there was a collective sniffle and a fight for the tissue box - your words mean so much because we know how much you care for your friend and what an amazing advocate you have been for her. Thank you.

My mum was a resident for over 4 years. The care received was outstanding, especially throughout COVID. They took great care to keep the relatives well-informed at all times and were very proactive in minimising the risk of COVID. The staff were flexible, adapting to cover absences and minimising contact with the ladies to prevent spread, having dedicated teams dealing with COVID patients. In normal times, the staff are extremely friendly, supportive, well- trained and knowledgeable. They are also great at caring for the relatives of their residents in a respectful manner. They ensure that the ladies’ interests are maintained, tailoring their activities accordingly and organising events to attend outside the home. I cannot praise the manager and her team highly enough. My mum was treated with dignity and care right up to the end of her life -I could not have expected anything more. I have recommended to friends looking for care for their relatives, which I have done knowing the highest standards provided.

My mum has been a Southpark resident for several years now. Her level of care goes beyond the five stars I can award in this review. The staff are excellent and carry out their duties with a genuine warmth and dignity towards their residents. Nothing is ever too much trouble. There are so many optional social activities too - concerts, dancing, crafting, games, day trips. Lots of stimulation and smiles. There's also an endless supply of tea / coffee and treats for residents and their visitors. Those who enjoy company have the choice of two bright, homely lounges and a beautiful large conservatory. There's also a secure, sunny garden to sit in. The bedrooms are lovely, with lots of personal touches. Treasured ornaments and family photos etc. can be safely displayed as happy memories and talking points. Nutritious, tasty food is served each mealtime. I genuinely cannot fault Southpark in any way and feel incredibly lucky to have my mum residing there. It's so much more than a 'care home'.

My aunt was admitted during the pandemic and an incredibly difficult situation was handled with so much thoughtfulness, care and kindness, balanced by professionalism and adherence to the guidelines. That is the uniqueness of Southpark - it combines all the care, home comforts and activities with excellent care skills, knowledge and the highest standards of clinical services, giving complete peace of mind to residents and relatives alike. My aunt’s carer noticed she was off colour one morning, the GP was informed and visited the same day and prescription issued. I was informed by phone that day, as communication is excellent at all times with a summary given after each weekly GP visit. My aunt particularly loves the local nursery children’s visits, beach outings for ice cream and the home-cooked fish and chips every Friday!

Mum has been a resident for a number of years. During this time she has had a couple of difficult times with ill-health and recently a bereavement in the family. The support she has received from the staff has been second to none. Mum is very well looked after, she has her craftwork which she loves doing and is so well supported in this. Along with other activities she shares with the ladies. Mum considers this her home and is happy here. She would soon tell us if she was not. Thank you Southpark.

A smaller home, not part of a chain, which seems to give a more personal feel to interactions with the team. On the whole, staff are friendly and helpful. If minor things do go a bit wrong or things are missed, the response to raised concerns is always efficient and swift. Cleanliness is really good and they make a nice coffee! As a family, we feel Mum is being well looked after and is always safe.

My aunt has been resident at Southpark for a number of years now. The staff are amazing and treat her like a member of their own family. They know all her needs and little quirks much better than I even do now. Her health is deteriorating due to advancing age and was unwell one evening. I was allowed to stay over to be with her and everyone made sure that not only was my aunt comfortable, but I was too. Nothing was too much trouble for them and one staff member in particular was determined to keep me well fed. The food is lovely and my aunt is given a choice in what she eats. The house is free of smells and my aunt is clean at all times. I can’t recommend Southpark highly enough and it will quickly become your relative's new home. The staff will go above and beyond for her and treat you as part of the family as well.

Review from D W (Nephew of Resident) published on 12 October 2023 Submitted via Website

After visiting a number of care homes in and around Edinburgh in April, my 92 year old aunt chose Southpark. She has been there since. She was immediately taken with the friendliness of staff and the very warm welcome she received. All of her needs are catered for and she is made to feel very much at home. There was a noticeable change for the better in her mood and general health. There is excellent contact between relatives and staff and a useful monthly report on what has been happening. Any problems, such as health issues, are immediately communicated and dealt with. The atmosphere in Southpark is cheerful and caring. The well-qualified staff obviously enjoy their work and have warm relationships with the residents. There are regular optional activities organised that are both entertaining and stimulating. It is a small establishment with a good ratio of staff to residents. All rooms are pleasant, clean and comfortable. It is such a relief to see my aunt happy and cared for.
