Excellent Care at Crosslaw Care Home
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the wonderful team at Crosslaw Care Home in Lanark for the exceptional care they provided to my dad during his respite stay while my mum was recovering from a stroke. The care from all the nurses and carers was absolutely
outstanding. They were not only professional but also compassionate, ensuring that my dad felt comfortable and well looked after at all times.
A special mention must go to the activity coordinator, who was brilliant in engaging my dad and keeping him entertained with a variety of activities. It was clear they truly care about the residents' well-being and strive to create a warm, positive environment.
I couldn't have asked for better support during this challenging time, and knowing my dad was in such capable hands gave me much-needed peace of mind. Thank you to everyone at Crosslaw Care Home for your dedication and kindness.

Since my mum came into Crosslaw in June 2023 she has gone from being withdrawn to taking part in days out and activities. She is happy, content and settled and had put on weight. She receives the best of care and the staff treat my mum like their own. My brother and I can sleep at night knowing my mum
is safe and well looked after. My mum loves her lovely, bright room and it is spotlessly clean.

Staff very caring and supportive to my mother although it's very obvious they are extremely busy. They are unable to spend time talking to her. After our review meeting, I understood this will be addressed.

The home has a lovely family feel, all staff are welcoming and friendly. It is obvious staff take great care of all the residents. I am informed immediately of any issues/changes in my mum. I am extremely happy with the care my mum is given.

My father was a resident of Crosslaw House for almost two years. During his stay, he was shown the utmost respect and treated in a caring manner. As a family visiting most days, we were always made to feel welcome after being included in the many and varied activities being enjoyed.
The care home
has a wonderful team who work together to meet the needs of their residents.
During the last week of my dad's life, the attention to detail in respect of holistic palliative care was beyond excellent.

The staff are all so caring of residents and welcoming to relatives. They have made a difficult time a lot less stressful. They keep me up to date with what is happening and include me in discussions about my mum's care.

Crosslaw House was the second home my mother was a resident within. The contrast was clear from the outset! The staff in Crosslaw treated my mum like family, they showed respect, compassion and a genuine desire to make my mum comfortable and safe. Although my mum's stay in Crosslaw was cut short due
to her health she was exceptionally well looked after, even at the time of her passing, the staff were kind and professional. A first-class care home.

The staff are always welcoming to visitors and very caring towards the residents. They went over and beyond their duties during Covid and did their best to keep residents in touch with loved ones despite lockdowns.
My mum is now better both physically and mentally than before she was admitted to Crosslaw
House Care Home. She is always clean, nicely dressed and has her hair and nails done regularly.
I would not hesitate to recommend Crosslaw House to other families.

The establishment has a feeling of being more a home than hotel!
Happy with the general support, care and cover offered. Communication with me is good. Staff very willing to listen and act if needed.
Covid has obviously put great constraints and pressure on all the staff, maybe reducing time able
to spend on one-to-one contact.
No complaints.

Many thanks for taking the time to complete this review. It has been an incredibly difficult year and particularly for your wife coming into a care home in the middle of a pandemic. For me, the greatest pleasure is in the recognition from families and loved ones that, despite the challenges, we continue to provide the best service we can. I will ensure that all the staff are aware of your positive review.

Having had no prior dealings with care homes, I wasn't sure what to expect when Mum went to Crosslaw House Care Home almost two years ago. However, everyone there has been fantastic in looking after and supporting her needs, especially when you consider the extra pressure on everyone because of Covid.
I really can't thank the management and staff enough for their care of my mum in these difficult times.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It is a pleasure having your mum here and I appreciate it must have been a difficult move for her, particularly coming into a care home at the outset of the pandemic. I will make sure that all the staff are aware of your positive review.

My mum was admitted to Crosslaw House Care Home almost two years ago. I have been extremely satisfied with the quality of care which Mum has received (and continues to receive) whilst at Crosslaw.
I have been reassured by the competence, compassion and friendliness of all staff that Mum's needs are
being fully met.
Mum has settled well and I believe the staff played a major part in this as the care home was in lockdown, due to Covid-19, from her admission date.
The way in which the pandemic has been managed has been particularly reassuring to me in ensuring resident safety and I am thankful for the additional time, work and effort which must be involved.
I appreciate all of the input made by all staff at Crosslaw and would have no hesitation in recommending Crosslaw House Care Home as a safe and friendly environment for loved ones.

My father and mother are with Crosslaw House Care Home.
The care they receive is second to none, my father is thriving with Crosslaw since arriving in August 2021, the environment they have created and how inclusive has made a huge difference in his life, making him feel at home and that he is with
family.
Following a lengthy spell in hospital and diagnosis and prognosis, my mother was taken in by Crosslaw House Care Home for palliative and end of life care in October 2021.
Every member of staff has made my mum so comfortable, they are kind and caring and treat her with dignity and compassion.
This phase of her life is very difficult but the team are so reassuring and have gone above and beyond to make every moment count.
Thank you to every one of the team. They all deserve recognition and praise, I thank them all immensely.

My mum has been a resident for over two years now and I can't thank all the staff enough for looking after her, especially during the last eighteen months when at times we couldn't see her. We are always kept updated on how Mum is doing, the staff keep her and the other residents entertained throughout
the day. Mum has come to call her room her house which is very comfortable with ensuite facilities.
Mum says the food is great and she really enjoys going on the bus trips for an ice cream.
I would highly recommend.

My husband has been a resident for over two years. He cannot speak, read or write following a stroke and is completely bedbound. I cannot praise Crosslaw House's efforts highly enough. The staff have been wonderfully patient and caring, keeping him content and comfortable, making sure they understand
his wishes. I have found management to be very communicative, especially throughout lockdown.

From the support team, carers, nursing staff, and management, my experience of their professionalism and support in ensuring my mothers' move from London back home to Scotland went extremely well, they have helped my Mum settle in as well as making her feel part of the family. Crosslaw in my limited
experience of care homes, is one of the best. They make everyone welcome. They understand residents' and family's needs, which has been evident in dealing with COVID-19.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.878) out of 10 for Crosslaw House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.611 for Crosslaw House is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.611

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.267 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Crosslaw House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.667

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
