My dad arrived at Dunvegan after 3 months in hospital from having a fall. From day 1 his well-being improved and has continued to improve. With his dementia it's good days and bad days but I'm very happy with the care and support he is receiving from Dunvegan staff. Dunvegan has a homely feel to it
which my wife and noticed on initial visit, something other care homes in the area simply don't have.

Mum has been at Dunvegan for coming on 6 months. I cannot rate it highly enough. There was a great 'on-boarding' where the staff asked about and got to understand Mum. She is now comfortable, safe and cared for and enjoys the company in the lounge. The food is well-cooked and generous. I have enjoyed
a couple of sing-a-longs in the lounge and appreciated the efforts made to keep folk entertained. They partner with GP practice, and the resultant medical care is much better than Mum had at home.

Above all, the staff are - without exception - attentive, caring, patient and considerate.
It was really difficult to take the decision that, Mum was no longer safe in her own home, but I am so grateful that she is being so well looked after by the lovely team at Dunvegan

My mum had been a resident in Dunvegan Lodge for 6 months now and the staff are absolutely incredible. They care for the residents with dignity and respect in what can be a very challenging environment due to residents with dementia and other health conditions. The manager is always available if you
have a query or just want a chat.

Overall we are happy with Dunvegan Care Home, staff, management are attentive and dedicated in all they do. We only have one reservation that we wish my mum could be included in any future outings days out etc as we feel this could lift her spirits from routine day to day living as this would give her
a feeling of inclusion with fellow residents.

Staff are lovely even cleaning staff are lovely too. Very attentive to needs of residents, always let me know what's happening, very homely place and all residents seem to be really settled, so glad my mother in law went to Dunvagan. My mum has been in Dunvegan Lodge for over 6 months now. I feel she is cared for, not just looked after and commend the respectful attitude of the staff. She often says she is happy in the home and enjoys the food and I feel I must comment on the high level of cleanliness, the varied activities on offer
and the cheery, helpful disposition of staff I encounter.
Making the decision for a relative to enter long-term care is difficult but for us as a family, Dunvegan has been a positive choice.

My Dad stayed for a few days as my Mum needed a wee break and Dunvegan was local. Almost instantly my Dad seemed at home thanks to the friendly and understanding nature of the staff. He was in his element and I can’t thank them enough for their care and compassion towards him. He enjoyed the food (despite
being a fussy eater!), participated in the activities and had a relaxing time.
I can’t speak highly enough for the level of care he received and the staff were all friendly and took great care of the residents there when I was visiting. There was a nice atmosphere and if you are looking at the care home for an elderly relative I can thoroughly recommend it.

Mum was admitted to Dunvegan having spent time in hospital and another care home. She was suffering from dementia and in previous locations, she was very agitated. Dunvegan was a blessing as it is as close to a normal house. Undoubtedly the main strength is the staff and day to day management. Throughout
mum's almost four year stay, she was surrounded by staff who genuinely cared for her and each resident - as if they were their closest relative. Staff were always in close proximity and willing to help with queries about what clothes etc mum would require. I cannot underline enough the dedication, alertness and genuine care each member of staff provides- they are angels! Similarly, the management is always available and kept me updated. Mum ate well and was in good physical health. She enjoyed bus outings and many other activities. She passed away peacefully in Dunvegan and the support and care of the staff were unforgettable. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Very pleased with the care my mum receives at Dunvegan, staff very good with the residents but feel there are some issues that could be addressed. It felt like my mum was at home straight away when she arrived in December 2016.

Highly recommend this care home for your elderly relatives, a lovely environment home from home.
The Staff at Dunvegan are friendly and caring and interact in a lovely way with all residents and their families, nothing is ever a problem.
My mum attended daycare for several months, then when the time
came for her to receive more intense care, her transition to being a full-time resident was very easy for her and our family.
The food is lovely. All home cooking and nutritious and numerous cups of tea throughout the day.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.713)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.713) out of 10 for Dunvegan Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Dunvegan Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (91 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dunvegan Lodge Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
