Father's Day 2025
Thank you for my Father's Day lunch and gift. A special shout-out to management who, with their energy and humour, made the day for my wife and myself and everybody else.
There always seems to be a celebration happening at Aspray House. Maximum effort is put into every special day,
with flags and treats to entertain the residents. A good measure of a care home, I have found, is the empathy and enthusiasm of the staff.
Aspray passes with 'flying-colours'
Good effort all round.

Very poorly staffed and management that is unseen and not able to contact. Poor safeguarding and handling skills. Inexperienced and overwhelmed staff who are working without support or guidance. I didn't feel that my family member was safe or cared for. Not enough staff to feed those that need help

Absolutely wonderful place. The staff are all extremely friendly, especially the front of house, she is so pleasant and extremely helpful.
The nurse and carers who care for my friend on 1st floor are really compassionate. The activity team are always entertaining which is so lovely to see. I would
highly recommend this place for your loved ones.

I would like to thank all the staff who looked after my mum during her time at Aspray House. We couldn’t have wished for better care in her last moments. All the staff were absolutely amazing, both nurses and carers, especially one member of staff who went above and beyond to make sure Mum was cared
for in the best possible.
Thank you all so much - your efforts will not be forgotten.
Kind regards.

My wife was discharged from hospital with very complex needs associated with her advanced-stage, early-onset dementia. When it became apparent that my wife required 1:1 24x7 care and supervision, the care home responded very quickly and effectively, despite the staffing challenges faced by all care
homes. The care home manager, nurses and carers have done an excellent job in responding to my wife's needs.

The care home and its staff, especially, provided a very safe and caring environment for my uncle's palliative care.
The bedrooms were very spacious and he was made very welcome and given all the home comforts during his stay.
Thank you kindly to all staff, especially the manager.

Our mother spent 22 months in the care of Aspray house in Lea Bridge Road. She was very happy there having many a laugh and a joke with the carers and other staff at the home, exchanging waves and smiles when they regularly checked in on her and attended to her needs. She often commented on what nice
people they were. The staff always appeared cheerful and helpful even when our mother was a bit down and miserable they tried to cheer her up.

The room itself was bright and always clean and airy with enough space for at least 4 visitors at a time, it also had an en-suite toilet which was useful even though our mother was bedridden and didn't have the confidence to use it even with help. Although confused at times our mum was mostly very happy living in Aspray House where we could visit her almost whenever we wished.

My dad was transferred from the hospital to the home suffering from terminal cancer, he was there for two months and received the best care from all carers and nursing staff. If we had any problems they were dealt with promptly. He sadly passed away but was given dignity to the end. Thank you to all
concerned.

Terrible! I've had 2 friends here transferred from hospital. The staff, nurses are great you can't fault them but the company is terrible. They have disgusting smelly plastic cups which should be in the bin now, water tastes like rubbish, food is poor occasionally, teeth not brushed daily, lack of facilities,
sometimes my friends were not changed for hours, lack of active things to do like group stuff, not taken to dining room for lunch or dinner, not taken to TV room daily, I don't know why they have carpet instead of wooden floors? it smells. I don't blame the staff, blame the head office keeping profits and not investing! local authority need to step in! I'm going to request what the directors make. The staff is overworked!

Very happy with the way our mum has been cared for. The staff are always friendly and professional, they listen to concerns and act upon it.
They are always available to discuss how mums day has gone and will refer mum to the doctors or dietitian. Overall all the services are excellent. Very good

My son was given a tour of the home even though he did not have an appointment. I was very impressed. My room is very comfortable and cleaned every day. Facilities for washing and showering are very good. Nothing I did or needed was too much for the staff. Family and friends who have visited are pleased
and impressed. I am well looked after, content and asked for my stay to be extended.

I have my stay - very beneficial and helpful my outlook at the world has been more open knowing one is going to pass away isn't the end of the world. You can sort out your knicks and bobs and have a laugh as give them away. I pray all the little things I have said will have made things easier for others.

With the negative things I've heard about care homes I didn't know what to expect. But my mind has been totally put at rest. Aspray House is an excellent care home. What matters the most to me is that the staff are dedicated and committed to the care and welfare of my husband. They are kind, gentle,
thoughtful and conscientious. They are approachable and friendly. I'm very happy, satisfied and content that my husband is being taken care of by the wonderful people at Aspray House.

Current Review Score: 6.8 (6.791)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.8 (6.791) out of 10 for Aspray House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.529 for Aspray House is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 3.529
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.262 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aspray House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.6 = 0.137
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
