Following a stroke my husband lives at St Aubyns for approx 6 months. He was cared for with kindness. As his level of needs changed this was catered for and the allocation of a different room on the ground floor was provided. This complex medical conditions were monitored professionally by the nurses
and assistance was sought when needed. I felt my husband was safe and well cared for. He liked the staff as they were approachable and always will be of help if they could. His choice of food was available with puddings and lots of tea.

I was initially sceptical of St Aubyns Nursing Home as I had visited care homes but they soon won me over. My father had complex needs and the staff always went above and beyond. If you require a nursing home with dementia need, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I can't speak highly enough of St Aubyns. My mum spent her final months here and the care she received was exceptional. The nursing staff kept us informed at all times with everything that was going on with Mum. So much so they contacted me and sister when Mum's breathing changed so we were there when
MUm took her final breath. And they were so kind and considerate when Mum passed.
A big big thank you to everyone at Sy Aubyns, we cannot thank you enough.

I would like to thank everyone at the care home for the love and care they showed my mum and us as a family. She was only there for a short time but was looked after with so much respect and kindness.
She sadly passed away yesterday morning with her family around her.
The home made this difficult
and emotional time easier to bear with such compassion, generosity and hospitality, keeping us supplied with tea/coffee and snacks throughout 2 long days and nights.
This made the loss of our much-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother so much easier to bear.
Once again thank you to all the staff at St Aubyn's.

All staff are really polite and do their best to include residents and give them a sense of routine. My nan's condition has improved since being in this home for four years. Her wellbeing is in the best interest of the staff members and I am glad she's happy and safe.

We want as a family to say a big thank you to all the staff of St Aubyns. The care, professionalism, love, respect, understanding and compassion that was given to our father was above and beyond. It was also shown to us as a family throughout his stay. On the last day, they were very attentive, making
sure all our father's needs were met and also ours as a family; they couldn’t have done more. You are a fantastic team; we will miss you all too.

I cannot thank all the team at St Aubyns enough for how they cared for my grandmother in her final days.
They all went above and beyond and treated her like family. My nan was a fiercely independent woman her entire life, and we knew that going to a home would be difficult for her, but her care was
too complex for us to manage.
She was treated with dignity and respect, communication was excellent, and in her final moments, we were all there with her, being supported by this excellent and loving team. She was comfortable, clean and content, being treated to her favourite things.
Their commitment to their residents is astounding.
For one of the most difficult phases of our lives, it was made so much easier to manage with St Aubyns, who took care of us too in our darkest moments. I really can’t put it into words how amazing they are.

Quite nice - but there are problems about conversing. Sometimes do not get more to eat if you want it. Not a lot of activities as the activity lady is called to do other jobs. The more vulnerable are attended to first.

St. Aubyns is amazing. My mum is cared for like she is family. My mum's aides are angels. I live a long way away but am comforted by knowing she is cared for so much. Home-cooked food is served: soups, desserts, and roast dinners as well as old favorites and sandwiches; there's always tea and cakes
or biscuits and snacks for visitors. The Christmas party is brilliant! The staff put on a show for residents and their family members and there's so much delicious food for everyone - I look forward to it every year and plan my visits around it. This home is real and just like the times the residents remember. It might not be the fanciest to look at but what's more important is how the residents feel and how they are treated. I looked at many, many homes for my mum - lots were fancy with piano bars and all mod cons my mum has never been to a piano bar in her life! I am blessed to have found St. Aubyns. 100% highly recommend to anyone.

As a family, we cannot thank the St Aubyns staff enough for taking care of our father. He was bed-bound and could barely move following a stroke. All his care focussed on him. Before he moved in, they spoke to us and asked all about dad, what he liked, didn't like. Because he liked to sing, we often
found staff singing with him. We are a large family and dad had visitors every day, we did not always go in at the same time but there were always staff about for dad and the other residents.
There are newer, smarter nursing homes but if you want your loved one cared for with staff who nurse from the heart then choose St Aubyns.

My mother was very comfortable in this home, they were warm loving and very caring, nothing was too much trouble. All the staff work so hard and being a small home it is very homely, like a big family. I can't thank them enough for easing my problems. Being a carer for my mum for 6 years I know how
hard it can be to do this job, their support was greatly appreciated right to the end.

My sister was resident in St Aubyns for 2 1/2 years. The staff, carers and nursing staff were the very best one could ever find. They were dedicated and committed to ensuring all residents received kindness, compassion, attention and indeed love. They were patient, warm and friendly and helped to create
a family and homely atmosphere. My sister was very happy in St. Aubyns and the care she received in the last few years of her life was exceptional in every way.

Mum lived in this home for 4 1/2 years. She was very happy and well looked after. They made me so welcome every time I paid Mum a visit, which was 2/3 times a week. My mum passed away in the home on 19th February at 95 years old. All the staff were wonderful as always on her last day of life and to
me I have felt as if I was part of the family as that is what it is! All friends and family agreed with me when they paid Mum a visit. Thank you St Aubyns.

The nursing staff and others were fully committed to caring for my wife. They regularly/constantly attended for feeding, hygiene and nutrition and they were always cheerful and happy and the atmosphere was of love and care.
I will always recommend St Aubyns, my only regret was that my wife's stay
only lasted from November 2018 to April 2019.

When I first visited on behalf of my father I felt like it was the right place for him. A homely feel, not too large, no "nursing home smell" and friendly staff that were sitting and chatting to all residents.
My father felt welcome in the home and was comfortable there, his needs were met well and
with dignity. He loved all the staff there and they went out of their way to make him feel comfortable. It was always clean, dad loved the food (he put on a lot of weight there!) and was allowed freedom to continue his hobbies. A wonderful caring home I would recommend to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.609)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.609) out of 10 for St Aubyns Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.809 for St Aubyns Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 89 Ratings = 4.809
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Aubyns Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
