I wanted to introduce myself. I am the Director and Nominated Individual for AVM Health Care Ltd. I graduated in Nursing and am responsible for organising and managing the day-to-day operations of the business, including care provision, staff management and budgeting.
I have a wealth of experience and have been Managing Care Homes since 2014 as a turnaround manager, developing my understanding of CQC regulations and requirements. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care, and I am a registered Trainer in Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, and Medication Management. In addition to the management expertise, I have 19 years of experience in nursing care. My background includes working in various healthcare settings, such as nursing homes and acute/conservative treatment units, including Medical, Cardiology Intensive Treatment Units, and Haemodialysis. During my time working in these various healthcare settings, I have gained extensive experience in geriatrics, nursing care for the elderly, residential care, dementia care, and managing distress behaviours.
I wanted to share a bit about my journey in the care industry. I have been the registered manager of Acacia House nursing home for 14 years, and for 11 of those years, I also managed a second home. My career in care began in 1997 when I started as a carer in a residential care home. I qualified as a nurse in 2001 and began my career at QA Hospital in Portsmouth. After gaining valuable experience in a hospital setting, I transitioned to become the Registered Manager of a large nursing home in Hampshire. Over the years, I worked hard to develop that home before taking on the role of dual-registered manager for Acacia House and another home in Waterlooville. Currently, I am solely focused on Acacia House, and I am incredibly proud of our small home with a big heart.
I have worked in the healthcare industry, which spans both the UK and Romania. When I first moved to the UK, I joined Acacia House as a senior carer while I was waiting for my NMC pin. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work my way up in the organisation. I was fortunate to work under an incredible deputy manager who generously shared her wealth of knowledge and experience with me. After her retirement, I stepped into the role of deputy manager in 2018, and it has been a rewarding experience.
