Reviews

8.4 Eastfield Nursing Home has a Review Score of 8.4 (8.440)

The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for Eastfield Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Eastfield Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.305 for Eastfield Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (19 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.305

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.135 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eastfield Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 10.4 positive Reviews (52 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 10.4 Target = 0.385

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

As far as I can tell as a visitor rather than a resident, the home is well run and the staff are kind and caring. My aunt who is the resident agrees.
A lot of effort is put into providing activities for the residents, trips to the cinema etc. and the home has chickens in the grounds and small animals for the residents to hold.
I have scored the home as good as I have no experience of any other.

My father has been a resident at Eastfield since December 2015 and he has always been treated with respect and looked after well. My mother also spent the last two months of her life here and the palliative care she received was excellent.
The home offer a wide range of activities and they ensure that my father is taken out to events/the cinema/theatre when possible.
I know that my father feels safe here and finds the majority of the staff offer the highest standards of care. I like the fact that each resident is treated as an individual and care is taken to learn about the individual and their families and their backgrounds so this can be used to interact with them and to help them.
The home lays in beautiful grounds with lovely views, which during the summer the residents are encouraged to use with outside seating provided for residents and families to use. As a relative, I am always made to feel welcome and encouraged to participate in events that are held in the home.

Although a very difficult time for mum and family, I was relieved to find the home. Very comfortable and in a lovely setting, all staff have been professional, caring, showing lots of empathy to the residents. As this was the first experience for my mum since leaving her own home, she was made to feel welcome and had her needs cared for in every way, and she has acclimatized very well.

My husband has been here for two years and has been treated well by the staff throughout.
They have been very caring and always treat him with dignity. There are plenty of activities throughout the week and visits to local events.
Weekends are not so good as families are expected to visit but not many do.
Food is varied and those needing help are fed.
