Staff were always polite, cheerful and professional. All were kind, friendly and helpful, without exception. All were proactive in offering care and support to both patients and visitors, even out of hours. Staff made us aware of what they could and couldn't do for a patient up front, but would always
do more rather than less. They always welcomed visitors but would also make us know the patient's wishes came first. The facilities were clean and comfortable, well decorated and maintained. Staff seemed happy to be there and interacted well with each other in a spirit of co-operation. Good atmosphere always.

In general, I find Bendigo Nursing home to be pleasant and well attended. There are always staff around and the nursing, in particular, is excellent. My only continuing concern is with the food, especially the lack of regular green vegetables. Perhaps it is too costly or maybe the very elderly shouldn't
eat vegetables. Also, there doesn't seem to be any great thought given to an individual's requirements, how many 90-year-old's like pizza or pasta; or uncooked fish. After some years visiting this establishment, the food I see provided is still the main issue for me.

Our Father became a resident at Bendigo in October 2017. For my sister and I, we thought choosing a nursing home for our Dad would be the hardest thing we'd ever have to do, but walking into Bendigo, we both knew we had found the perfect home for him.
We are content in the knowledge that our Dad could
not be better cared for than he is by all the staff. The atmosphere is so friendly, it's a joy to visit. As a family, we are made to feel so welcome, as are other friends and family, especially our mum (and our dog!). We see this as Dad's home now, not a place we have had to 'put him in to'.
We're so lucky to have found Bendigo, we couldn't praise the staff highly enough - as for the food - amazing! We tell Dad he's in a 5 star hotel because that's what it feels like, but with wonderful staff there to look after him for us around the clock. Thank you, everyone, at Bendigo - we couldn't ask for better for our Dad!

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.092)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.092) out of 10 for Bendigo Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Bendigo Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.175 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bendigo Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.8
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
