Overall Experience

My best friend was admitted to the home for palliative care after she was diagnosed with a rare form of incurable cancer. She was only in her mid 50's with two young teenage children and a huge contingency of friends. The care home not only welcomed her but all of us too, making us all feel at home. The care itself they gave her right until the end was amazing. Person centred, genuine and compassionate, at a very difficult time for everyone, especially for herself and her family.

I am a qualified nurse, with a lot of experience in palliative care, I promised my friend that I would be with her to the end and with the support of the home I was fully supported to do that. I have to say I was extremely impressed by the friendly atmosphere, along with the standard of care, from the volunteers to the manager.

I would not hesitate to recommend anyone deciding to make that difficult step, of moving into a care home, in picking this one, for continuing or palliative care.

Overall Experience

Petworth Cottage is a wonderful nursing home. The nursing care is exemplary but perhaps more importantly the staff are wonderful at looking after and understanding the person as a whole. There is fun and laughter but always great respect for the residents and their family.

The staff are really fantastic they are all incredibly kind, patient and caring. Many of the carers and nurses have worked at the home for years so they know exactly what they are doing and there are always familiar faces.

We moved our friend for whom we had POA to PCNH in April 1925 when her Care Home closed down. At that stage she was rapidly loosing her mobility and soon became permanently bedridden. Having been allocated a rather dark isolated room initially we managed to move her to a brighter room with double aspect and a gorgeous view after a while. She loved this and it made all the difference to her last months without doubt. The staff were incredibly supportive and kind even though she could be quite challenging at times! They gave her the respect and care needed at all times particularly in those final days. We were so grateful and felt supported at all times.

An outstanding care home, my father stayed here for the last days of his life, I was able to come in now any time I wanted, the care he received was in my mind outstanding, all of the staff cared for him as if he was there own father, I also built good relationships with the staff team, they welcomed me and supported me through this process, I was welcome to have lunch there at any time for a very small nominal fee which really helps with everything else I was trying to manage, the gardens are beautiful, the rooms are to high standard, the carers exceptional, the food is unbelievable, I was able to receive funding for my father to be up to step it with cottage felt like we hit the jackpot as I cannot imagine a care home better run with better staff,

Thank you so much to the staff of cottage

My mother was accepted as a resident at PCNH following a ten week period in hospital where she was moved around from hospital to hospital and ward to ward without any concrete diagnosis. The family felt she just needed a stable, consistent and caring environment to either, hopefully improve her health or, face the inevitable.

And that indeed is what she got, right from before moving in and the admissions process. It was evident even then that the staff involved with that process were so caring and understanding of not just my mother's predicament but also the family's.

From the day she moved in the care and attention were first class and even better than we had been led to believe. There were always staff available to help, nothing was too much trouble and the friendliness, from junior staff to the highest level was humbling. Oh, and the food and cake were tremendous!

Sadly my mother only lived a short while at PCNH but we couldn't have wished for more for her final few weeks.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It was an honour to care for your mum, even though her time with us was shorter than we had all hoped.

It is always lovely when we have the opportunity to get to know the relatives of those we care for, and it was a pleasure getting to know your family. You...

Over the two and a half years that my friend was resident at PCNH I always felt that he was in safe hands, well cared for and nothing was too much trouble for those caring for him. All staff were patient, kind and attentive to the residents' needs.

My father was taken into Petworth Cottage Nursing Home for his end-of-life care, where he was welcomed by all of the staff and made to feel very comfortable on his arrival.

All of the staff at Petworth were incredibly kind and caring to both my father and our family during such a difficult time. We were given full use of the facilities during our visits, which helped us spend as much meaningful time together as possible.

The compassion, respect, and dignity shown to my father throughout his care meant a great deal to us, and we will always be grateful for the support we received.
