Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at Porthgwara for over 2 years. She has dementia. Alzheimers. The care and attention my mother receives is exceptional. The consistancy of the same staff is so beneficial to my mum. The staff know of my mums needs, her character and she thinks very highly of them, as we do. Days when maybe my mum might get agitated, the staff know how to distract her. The days when she hasn't eaten well, staff go the extra mile to try to get her to eat. When we visit, we feel welcomed. I am very grateful for the owners compassion, and it's a comfort to know how well she is cared for.

The home is in a beautiful spot, sea views lovely.
The staff are just wonderful, so helpful and caring take time with the old person and talk to them.
My mum didn't want to go but loved it when she got there.
Everybody was friendly to us when we visited her and nothing was too much trouble.

Mum moved into Porthgwara after living on her own for many years. Her last few years in her own home became more and more challenging for her. Since moving into Pothgwara she is healthier, much more relaxed and above all happier- I've got my lovely old mum back! A big thank you to all the team- your care and attention to mum's needs are amazing.

The staff at Pothgwara Nursing Home really make it feel like a home. They are all extremely professional but they also bring personality and character to the home. They have made dad feel welcomed and cared for and this is very reassuring to us as a family. We visit regularly and are always impressed with the resident centred approach and the relationships that staff have built with dad.

Overall Experience

My mum has recently died at the age of 101 after six happy years at Porthgwara Nursing Home. She has been consistently cheerful and always spoke warmly about her carers. She has had a lovely comfortable room with a view of the sea, boats and the beach. She was not always the easiest of people but mellowed and warmed and responded well to the patient and caring staff at Porthgwara. I have never felt worried for her and always had confidence in the whole team. Communication is excellent, nursing care has been fantastic but the best thing has been the warmth and genuine affection from the ordinary on the ground carers. Mum moved from being fairly active to being bedbound over several years and at every stage I had complete confidence. I can thoroughly recommend Porthgwara.

My 92 year old Mother has been at Porthgwara for 3 years now and due to their care and attention her physical ailments are well managed and cause few problems.
Her room is delightful opening onto a garden, with a view across Coverack Bay.

The staff are always friendly and approachable. Visiting is easy, my Mither is happy and we, her family have peace of mind.
