The staff were absolutely fabulous. Kind, patient and friendly and very efficient
After a fall Mum was hospitalised and needed some extra care.
My immediate thoughts went with The Dales.
After hearing it was full we were very disappointed, but with all the luck we had, a room become available that we could access with a stretcher from the hospital transfer.
Very pleased to be here and very grateful to the brilliant staff
Thank you so much for everything

The Dales have provided my mother in law a safe and comfortable home. She needs mobility help and its always there. Nothing is too much from all the staff who are cheerful and approachable at all times. The home is well run, efficient and happy. Meals are tasty and variable in choice. Also special tastes are also provided for. All the staff listen to you and management try to accomodate all our wishes. Thank you to all at The Dales.
We also appreciate your kind comments about our home and team. I will be sure to share this feedback with them.
Unfortunately I had to make a complaint.
This resulted in The Matron not being happy that I made a complaint.
Safeguarding Devon moved me to somewhere more caring.
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We are sorry that you felt the need to raise a complaint with The Dales Nursing Home. Please be assured that your concerns were fully investigated and a formal response has been provided.

The manager is brilliant and reassuring and cares greatly for all the clients and the loved ones as well and is just a lovely caring person too.
My husband spent his last weeks with the care of The Dales and I feel blessed.
Thank you for your kind words, it was a pleasure to care for your husband.
A big thank you to all of the lovely people at The Dales for looking after my brother. It was good to see him happy and contented on my recent visit. I met a number of the staff and they are all excellent. I was also impressed to see that he is receiving good proactive medical care. I highly recommend The Dales.
Thank you for your kind words, it is our pleasure to look after your brother.
Sadly now I have my own severe mobility issues and illness as well as my Darling Wife being diagnosed with Cancer.
This makes visiting Mum very challenging.
I can call up and the updates and reassurance on Mums well-being is very helpful.
The monthly newsletter with all the activities and pictures capture Mum in relative terms having a good quality of life.
Thanks again
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad to hear you enjoy receiving our monthly newsletter. Our wellbeing team take great pride in creating this for our families and friends each month. Kind Regards - Operations Manager
My father spent his last few weeks under the excellent care of the manager and her team at The Dales Nursing Home. We chose this home as the staff were all very friendly, the facilities were excellent and nothing seemed too much trouble. The rooms were always spotless and the home always had a friendly atmosphere. We particularly liked the spacious room with a lovely view over the city and the green space of the park opposite. We really appreciated the extra time staff took to discuss Father's progress and what was happening and also explanations as to what was happening. We received a call from the manager in plenty of time to travel so we could all be with him as he passed, which was really appreciated. Thanks to everyone.
Thank you for the lovely review. It was a pleasure to care for your father.
Take care,
The Dales
The Dales staff nursed my mum during her end of life care for cancer. They all treated Mum with such care and compassion. She was treated with dignity throughout and all staff were so friendly. They were professional but always seemed to go above and beyond, truly dedicated to their vocation. I’m so glad she got to spend her final days with such wonderful people looking after her. It’s a lovely bright home, kept so clean by a really dedicated team. Thank you all.
Thank you this is much appreciated and I will pass this on to the staff team. It was an honour and privilege to care for your mother in her final days.

Meet the Team (3)

Marie started her career as a nurse and moved to The Dales Nursing Home as Matron in 2003. She is highly respected amongst the Exeter medical community. Marie has a wealth of experience in nursing care and her ethos of ‘kindness first’ is at the heart of everything the home does.

Here at The Dales, I actively support the Registered Manager in the Operational running of the home. I take care of our internal Health and Safety and operational excellence, which is governed by CQC and HSE. I also manage Residents' stays in terms of financial contributions or local authority funding and contracts.

I began working in healthcare at 18 because I was drawn to the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives. Helping others and knowing my work has a direct impact gives me a strong sense of purpose and fulfilment. Healthcare offers a unique blend of technical skill and human connection, which keeps me engaged and inspired. What stands out to me most is the support and learning opportunities that healthcare provides.
Every day is a chance to grow, adapt, and learn something new. The field is also grounded in values like empathy and resilience, and the kindness shared by everyone involved is evident daily. Being part of a community that’s dedicated to caring for others has enriched my life and keeps me committed to this path.
