The Yelverton Residential Home is a charming and spacious home from home accommodation set within scenic surroundings of Dartmoor. With some rooms over looking the picturesque views of the moor and the Yelverton centre, the specular surroundings complement the relaxing atmosphere. The Yelverton Residential Home is well situated and close to local amenities, i.e. The Rock Inn, shop, café, and bus routes.

The home was extensively refurbished throughout in 2017, and consists of 24 en-suite rooms and a further 4 rooms without. All rooms are spacious, tastefully equipped, nicely adorned, and constantly kept to a high standard with the help of the dedicated Housekeeping team. Residents are encouraged to bring items from home to personalise their living space and make their home away from home feel more like their own.

The excellent standard that all of carers uphold, encompasses the core tenets of effective caregiving. There is a happy team at The Yelverton that enjoy caring and spending time with residents which creates a happy environment to live and work. The well-being and comfort of each resident are given top priority while providing care in an environment that is safe, secure, pleasant, and joyful. Furthermore, the home also places great emphasis on its programme of activities and events as well as a compassionate service to really ensure that all residents have the most enriching and best quality of life.

My mother has been here for just over 12 months and she is very happy. The standard of care given is very high. Each time I visit the same staff are on duty which is paramount in continuity of care. The food is of a high standard and the fact my mother has a small appetite is always observed and she
enjoys her meals. The standard of cleanliness is top class (her room is always spotless) as is that of the laundry. None of my mother's clothing has been lost or misplaced. I looked after my mother full-time before she went into care and I have total peace of mind of the care she receives at The Yelverton which is a great comfort to my mum and myself.

During Mum's stay (which was sadly all too short) I found the care to be excellent. The staff were always friendly and extremely caring. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Yelverton Care Home to anyone.

Although only a short respite stay, I was very impressed by the level of care and empathy from all the staff. In all aspects I found the level of care shown by all the staff to be outstanding. The food was excellent and plentiful and catered for all tastes. Served with a thought for all tastes.
If
I found myself in a similar position again, The Yelverton Residential Home would be my only choice. Thank you to you all for a pleasant stay.

My mother stayed at The Yelverton for ten days respite whilst we were on holiday. She was made to feel very welcome and was looked after in every way possible, the staff were very kind and attentive and the food was amazing. I am sure she will go back again without any hesitation when we are on holiday
in the future.

Management were excellent in making arrangements for my arrival and getting the local health team on board very quickly. The result was that I made significant progress health-wise, despite having complex and multiple needs in the two months I was there. I was in a lovely room, which had a wonderful
view of the green, and plenty of light. The staff were very kind and caring to me and very welcoming to my family and friends. I could see the menu was varied and interesting, but since my operation, my taste buds had almost disappeared, but the staff did all possible to help enhance flavours for me, which I very much appreciated. I enjoyed going downstairs for lunch when I was up to it, and sitting outside in the garden. In particular, I enjoyed the buffet coronation celebration and the bbq which my granddaughter also attended. Overall I am very grateful for the excellent care I received, and would not hesitate to recommend the Yelverton Residential Home to anyone.

My dear aunt has been resident in The Yelverton Residential Home now for three and a half years and I bless the day we found such a caring environment for such a sweet lady. It was recommended to us by a former employee who praised the home highly and said he had been very happy to work there. My aunt
is now very old by anyone's standards so needs very special attention and every time I visit she is beautifully cared for. I'm so, so pleased to have found a place where she can see out her days in peace and comfort.

After my father's death in October 2022, my mother moved from their home into The Yelverton Residential Home at the age of 96. It was a huge move and a total change for her as my parents had lived independently in their bungalow up until this point. Consequently, I was both surprised and delighted that
she settled in quickly and easily and soon began to enjoy many aspects of her new life. I believe that this was almost entirely down to the care and kindness shown to her by the staff, who were always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that she was able to take part in the social life and activities within the home, in spite of the fact that she was registered blind and very deaf. She made friends among the residents and among the staff. Sadly, she suffered from a number of minor strokes which caused her to fall and she passed away at the end of April. She spent her last days being cared for in the home with respect and dignity. The kindness of the staff was extended to her family during this difficult time.

I can't praise enough the wonderful care and attention my mother received from all the staff during her time at the home. In fact, she blossomed during her stay and was always happy whenever the family visited her. All the staff work to the highest possible standard but still manage to make the home
feel homely and welcoming. When Mum passed away in December, she was treated with the utmost respect. Thank you all so much.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.569)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.569) out of 10 for The Yelverton Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.869 for The Yelverton Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.869
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Yelverton Residential Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
