Chelston Park Nursing and Residential Home and Chelston Gardens Dementia Nursing Home are two standalone homes that sit on the same site.

Chelston Park specialises in nursing and Chelston Gardens in dementia care. The homes are close to Wellington and six miles from Taunton. Exit at Junction 26 of the M5, the drive to Chelston takes less than five minutes.

Chelston Park provides first-class nursing facilities in a homely atmosphere. The original 1920s house has been tastefully extended and modernised to provide personalised nursing care and support to 31 rooms.

The building is set in extensive flat grounds with beautiful views towards the Blackdown Hills and the Wellington Monument.

Chelston Park is a safe, welcoming environment where the choices of care, well being and comfort of residents are the most important thing.

Chelston Gardens is a purpose-built progressive home, where personalised care combines with design to create a peaceful, harmonious atmosphere.

The home was designed around a secure, internal garden and the facilities have been carefully planned around the needs of people with dementia.

Chelston Gardens offers large single en-suite rooms with walk-in showers and underfloor heating throughout. The emphasis is on light – large windows frame beautiful views of the Blackdown Hills.

Any increase in the fee results from inflation, the provision of additional care and services, or as a result of factors beyond our control. These include regulatory and general economic changes affecting the care sector. Fees may be reviewed more frequently in response to these factors.


If you do not meet the criteria for NHS CHC, but require nursing care, the NHS pays a contribution towards the cost of the nursing care. This is called NHS-funded nursing care (FNC). The FNC is paid directly to the home by the government and will be added to the fee we agree with the resident.

I find the care my husband is receiving very good. I sometimes wish there could be a few activities he would join in with, what is on offer.

The care provided at Chelston Gardens is exemplary with all staff providing very high quality nursing and assistance to all residents whatever the level of their condition. The nursing staff at all grades are always open and approachable and couldn't be more helpful & there are regular meetings for
relatives at which managers and senior nursing staff provide invaluable updates on nursing practice, services provided and plans for the future. I can't praise everyone enough from senior managers through to Ancillary staff all of whom deserve the highest praise for their hard work and support.

The care at Chelston Park is excellent from the first day they enter the care home. The staff find the needs of the resident & work to help them settle. Management listen to the relatives comments and suggestions. The nourish compute program is excellent and is reassurance to the relatives to keep an
eye on the residents care and which staff are responsible for each day. The activities staff try to get all residents involved in activities. Those who are not capable of joining in group activities spend time one to one & find out which films or programs the residents prefer & make sure they can see their screen.

From the moment we walked through the door of Chelston Park and Chelston Gardens, we knew our mother would be in safe hands. The quality of the caring team was exceptional. Everyone was treated with dignity and respect whatever their need. The entertainment was outstanding with activities every day
to occupy residents. We were kept informed and consulted on mum's care needs. The app was particularly helpful as a relative living away. We cannot recommend highly enough Chelston and if we need to access care again, it will be first on the list.

Having visited several care homes in the area (all very good) a visit to Chelston Park & Chelston Gardens made to decision to choose it for my father, very easy. From first contact with the manager over the phone and the friendly welcome from every member of staff I met, everything felt right. Now,
several months on, the care my father has been receiving is excellent, I can't speak too highly of the staff, nurses, care assistants, cleaning staff and admin all go above and beyond. To hear my previously independent father say he is happy here is all I can wish for.

Wife has been a resident for two years with increasing dementia. Foreign care staff do not have the skill to approach residents with the happy, friendly style which residents miss from their past friends and family. Activities are generally suited to those who are mobile and with hand/eye co-ordination.
Hard to find staff for long periods when they take their breaks together.

Cannot thank Chelston Gardens' team enough for the wonderful care for my dad. Dad's dementia journey has not been straight forward, having lost his wife of 50 years recently as well as losing his home. All care staff are very friendly, hardworking and kind. The facilities in Chelston Gardens are excellent, and the rooms are always very clean and comfortable. My mother came to Chelston Gardens in May and has settled well. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and we are always made to feel welcome at visits,

My aunt has been in Chelston since Oct 2021. Her care has been excellent and I felt like all the staff genuinely cared for her, giving me peace of mind that I had definitely made the right choice. Two weeks ago she had a stroke from which she could not recover. The care and consideration shown to her
and us, her family during her last days was second to none. Chelston is a wonderful home, with the most amazing and friendly staff, whom I cannot thank enough.

My family would have no hesitation in recommending Chelston Gardens to anyone who needed dementia care.
All aspects of the home were excellent. The staff were all kind and caring. They all worked extremely hard to provide a clean/safe environment for the residents. The home tried hard to stimulate

My brother has been at Chelston Park since 2018 ad there has never been a moment when I have doubted that he gets excellent care. He, himself feels that it is now his home. Chelston Park is also very welcoming to friends and family members, this helps to promote the feeling of it being one big family.

The level of care and consideration for personal welfare exceeds the 'standard'. My mother is happy at Chelston Park & Chelston Gardens Care Home and wishes to remain there. Safeguarding measures arose and the staff professionally and quickly addressed them, involving partner agencies. This had led
my mother to feel reassured and safe having been "listened to" which has always been her greatest wish. She now feels empowered to take control of matters arising and which affected her. I can only praise the care home management to the highest degree - thank you.

Chelston Gardens is a very happy, friendly and welcoming care home. It's spotlessly clean at all times and the food is fantastic.
The staff are all great and it feels like an extended family. We feel my dad (who has dementia) is well cared for and very safe.

My husband has been cared for here for some time.
The care is excellent and the staff are cheerful, kind, professional and maintain residents' dignity. Staff seem to be regularly updated with training in what is a very demanding sector of care work. Staff turnover is low.
Rooms are bright and
decently sized.
Cleanliness: excellent and never a smell that shouldn't be there.
Food is varied and well-presented. It feels cooked with love!
Recent radio programmes recounting care-home horror stories underlined to me just how fortunate we are with Chelston.

During the 18 months my father was in your care he was treated with dignity and respect. The staff's friendly and professional manner included us as a family.

I had cared for my husband for a number of years using all the help that was available to me. We both adapted together and it worked well, although changing all the time, one day, over a very short period, I could no longer look after my husband. Our family stepped in and found Chelston Park & Chelston
Gardens had accommodation that everyone agreed ticked all the boxes. Within the day personal belongings were put up and dad was tucked up in his own room with staff to remove the care from my shoulders - I never looked back.

My mum was only there for a short time in September 2019, but the experience was enough for me to want to make sure they're very highly recommended here.
The grounds and building were in very good condition and the care provided by the staff was excellent. They're at the opposite end of the spectrum
to the horror stories you've read in the news about some care homes.
It's a nice place, run by common sense and delivered with integrity - one less thing to worry about during a difficult time.

In my opinion, Chelston Gardens is everything one could wish for when choosing a nursing home for a loved one. The management and staff are caring, helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent with great variety and choices.
My relative spends many happy hours walking in
the lovely gardens. It gives me and my family peace of mind knowing that he is safe and secure in the garden and within the home.
